Legends of Chima-Overall Thoughts
SoupOrFishOil replied to LegoBenzine's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
There probably is no mention because that was entirely the company who made the show (I forget the name, but I know it is different than Ninjago). They are probably the ones coming up with most of the story, except for basic things like affiliation, basic backstory, and personality. It would be rather ridiculous, in my opinion, for LEGO to remodel their sets and boxart which has already been finished based on what someone the hired to tell and expand their story has decided on. And I think we get that Crooler, not Cragger, is the real bad guy. I don't see why every post has to go back to that. -
I loved that show. These are wonderful figures and I agree with the others that they look just like something LEGO would do. Beautiful work on everything here. It is really just flawless. I cannot wait to see what more DUPLO figures you have in store next, but I won't mind admiring at these for a long while. :wub_drool:

Eh, I'm not really interested. It looks more like it is set in a desert too me, which is wrong. I was hoping for more of a Louisiana Swamp feel when it ends up like a bunker, but I suppose it is a hideout. The minifigure line-up is pretty dull too. I was hoping for at least one exclusive figure, either Crunket or that Cranvil guy, but I suppose Chima is pretty stingy with those. I am glad to see pictures though. I spotted two new pieces on Lennox' swamp boat. -

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

This set does look pretty good, the best of the Spring wave in my opinion. The ship isn't quite on par with the Quinjet, but I never liked the ship itself for its military ques. I'm just not a military person. (The set was certainly very good, I just don't like what it was based on). The shape is just interesting, and it actually seems complete, unlike a lot of things this line has seen. I'm not so interested in the jeep included, for the same reasons as the Quinjet, but it at least seems to have good parts. I was still going to skip it though, if it wasn't for Faora. (How ironic ) Her hairpiece is wonderful and it is even better to see it in mainstream sets. It looks like I can skip the Metropolis Battle, too, since Zod has his hairpiece. -
That head belongs to Gypsy Moth from the Insectoids theme. I'm not familiar with Mystique, but looking at images of her, it does seem like the best head out there for her. On another note, I can't find a good torso, but I think that the new Mr. Freeze head is pretty much perfect for Deadman. Any suggestions?

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

Unfortunately, I don't quite see that happening, myself. I could see Superman or maybe Flash rescuing him, but not Batgirl. It's sad, but unless it is based on a specific scene, like the mansion set with Pepper, I just don't see it happening. Not after Wonder Woman and Lex which made little sense. I would rather see her take the backseat than not appear at all, however. I do think that the DC sets will get better next year, at least figure-wise. The point they are at they will have to give us someone new for the sake of being new, and hopefully several someones. Reappearances of a few characters are a granted, like Batman of course, but the only villain from the Batman theme who hasn't been redone is Killer Croc. I don't necessarily think that we will see him again, but the main appeal in this line is the characters and new ones will likely help a set sell better than ones that include ones that are all available elsewhere, granted they have some stature. I would go on, but I don't want to make a wishlist here. Maybe I am just being too hopeful. I still doubt we will get close the the variety that Marvel has presented so far, unless they decide to make sets based on Beware the Batman which could do a bit. I guess that Katana would be a better addition than no one at all, and that would give Ra's a chance too, but I'd rather take my chances with the "comic" sets. -

I would have to say that DraikNova captures my thoughts here. Crominus is included in the set so that Crominus can be included in the set. LEGO came up with his minifigure and probably his basic identity before Wilfilm, but it is up to Wilfilm to expand upon it and LEGO is not likely going to move things around in their line-up to portray the show accurately. They don't do it with their licenses that often (arguably because of time/info allotted) but in this case it is the other way around. LEGO's IP is what is not being portrayed totally accurately and to me it seems a little ridiculous to alter your own work so something else that is based on it matches. The show was probably developed before the sets were final, which would explain the different designs of characters and vehicles. It does bother me a little, but it is understandable. And as for Crominus' character being changed to better portray the sets, I personally hope not. The storyline with him and Crunket surviving unbeknownst is one of the few I look forward too after seeing the pilot. There are other characters who could be changed for the better to depict the sets/LEGO.com bios, such as Crooler and Eris. -
Great work once again! And yay for minor bat-villains!

I hope you don't mind the quote mining, but I only wanted to reply to this part since most of the rest has been taken care of. Crominus is given a red background and grouped with the villains because the show is based off of the sets, not the other way around. -

Actually, I remember Mark Strafford/Nabii commenting on a Brickset article when the Bat and Tumbler was first revealed and saying that the blue was to break up the black. -

Yes, it is fake. I know exactly who made it. -
Great work, Catnas! I really love seeing your designs. I don't know what it is about him, but I particularly like (and want ) Steel. I hope there is more on the way, even though this thread seems to have died.

Sort of. The one in the boat set has the same face as in the Avengers sets and the one in the manor doesn't have a face. It is plain white. However, it is intended so that either Tony Stark (who has a face with different expressions from Iron Man) or Pepper Pott's head can be put under the helmet. -

I never said that I had a problem with the hair. Edit: I am actually glad that LEGO is finally using it for women. I thought they would have some problem with it looking too masculine (not that I think it does). Faora seems to throw any worries of being too masculine for a woman out, however. -

I like the look of the Kryptonian ship in Smallville and the warriors (except the colors being a little bland) but not much else. The "Black Zero" set is easily the worse $20 Super Heroes set yet. The pod is okay, but it is just a pod. I'll probably still get it for Lois, however, or just make a custom purist one. Faora looks awful too, much worse than Black Widow whose problem, in my opinion, was too much effort on the face. Did they really have to reuse Lex's head? It hardly looks effeminate at all. I am hoping that they got it mixed up with Tor-An's somehow and that a better one is under one of the helmets. -

I can't judge the Smallville set yet, but Black Zero at least is sounding disappointing. Is it the interior of the ship and an escape pod for Supes and/or Lois to escape in, rather than the ship itself? -

Too bad about not seeing any MoS images, and though I don't think it is as good, there are images of the Batman board game here, here, and here. I hope that we can get Batgirl and Nightwing minifigures next, as their designs look good even if it does not translate to microfigure very well (especially Batgirl without ears). Mr. Freeze's figure looks better than the minifigure though because he has goggles though, which is sort of odd to me.
