Your dream Lego theme
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Siegfried's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Indeed, I would love Pixar movie sets. Wall-E really seemed like something that Lego could have used, not to mention that minifigures of The Incredibles would be sweeeet. -

Review - Hallmark Darth Vader ornament

Now that you mention it, this could be a great ornament without the hook too. I would never remove it if I bought one, though. I WANT ONE! -

Such a bad time to be a collect 'em all guy! But then again, I would probably not collect them all if we got as much iterations as say, Star Wars. I tried to collect all Batman and Spider-Man minifigs but never cared as much for SW (only the most iconic characters and a few droids). Hmmm, I need to device a new budget -
How could this thread ever die??? Mine was the same. Actually, I believe I owned SW minifigs before any SW set. In fact, it's been a while since I last bought a SW set (2009), and I only own 13 SW sets. I can't say that the set sparked a whole new era of my life... But still, it was my first SW set.

What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wow, seeing here as everybody is buying lots of sets makes me feel poor. Just bought 5 new astromechs from Bricklink today. 7 to go! I expect to complete my collection in the next couple of months. -

I like it more than the Vader maquette. I would get one for myself for a good price if I could, but then again, there are some disadvantages of not living in the US. I would love to put this on my tree -
The Amazing Spider-Man Lego?
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to bionicle factory's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think that we would all be better off if Lego released Spider-Man sets based on comics and not this new movie. I have ranted many times about this before, but that new costume sucks . Besides, there's much more to Spidey's comic universe than can fit in movies. -
No, we don't have Black Friday either, but the sets are way too overpriced here, so even when you get a 50% discount, you're paying slightly more than Lego's price. I agree with you on the time to buy during the licecycle of a set. That's what I usually do. Thanks for the sales links. I do browse eBay, but part of my question is what is the best time to browse it (and BL too).

LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Licensed
Not to sure if I like that... I have to admit that it looks more accurate, but it doesn't look right to me. Perhaps I'm already used to our old "Batmen". -
Your observations?
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to ice dragon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Please don't be horrified, but I have owned 6 Mega Bloks sets in my life! Now don't get me wrong, in general I'm no fan of Mega Bloks, and I don't like the inferior plastic quality. I will say though that I never experienced bleeding hands. I might have had sore hands after building those sets, but that happens to me also with Lego. After some years, I gave away two of the sets, and only kept the Marvel action figures. I didn't like to get Mega Bloks instead of Lego as a kid. Some relatives once bought some for me, and those are the ones that I ended up giving away! -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion

Whoops, you're right! Anyways, I would like red, black or purple bags. Any would do. -
I've always tried to figure out what are the best times to buy Lego to minimize spendings. Here are the two main issues I've been wondering about: 1) Best time of the year to buy minifigs on Bricklink, especially if they are licensed. 2) Best time to buy sets. (For example, the last year before the set is discontinued, or two years after it is discontinued?) Please share your consumer wisdom, since I haven't been able to observe the trends lately.

I hadn't noticed the Surgeon's X-Ray scan is trans. Sweeeeet! I admit I would bet on Series 7 being white, although I won't take it for a fact until we see the baggies. -

Take a look by yourself on this site. It was definitely a bad scan, but I highly doubt that the resulting hue could have been only the effect of that. It is clear to me that the original image had no light blue. Also, I presume this is what caused the rumours of the bags being purple. -

Of course, yes, but the retailer's image for series 5 had a purple background that made many of us believe that the bags were going to be purple. I just hope they use more colors before resorting to shades of colors they have already used. I'm not a big fan of the light blue used in series 5. -

Yeah, this wouldn't be the first time that false, unsourced info is posted on Brickipedia. For instance, if I recall correctly, Brickipedia once said that Series 5 was the last series! We must remember that there are many kids on Brickipedia that sometimes make edits that they innocently believe provide correct information, while they don't. Actually, it has been pointed out repeatedly before that making the bags red would make it harder to see the red marks on the packages. I wouldn't mind that, but apparently it's enough to keep Lego from using red. Bring on black! Bring on purple! -
When I bought this set I had no idea that somebody would ever sell it at that price. I don't think it is worth that much, though. It's a nice set, but it's certainly not worth over $40 (and that would be a high price tag).

LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion

I'm glad about Mega Bloks getting the Amazing Spider-Man license instead of Lego. I would hate to get a Spider-Man minifig with that hideous costume instead of the classic comic book one. One question, and I don't know if this has been answered before. Are these licenses exclusive? Can Mega Bloks also have a Marvel or DC license? (The one for the Spider-Man film is from Columbia). -
Actually, I didn't get the whole concept until I looked at it like that. Looks very good, although I would love to see a pic better adjusted to the intended perspective. Thanks for sharing!

Lego Universe shutting down
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Pingles's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Agreed. I abhorred having to smash 1000 stormlings for a cool item that I wanted. The ideas that you mention about building seem really interesting to me. If the models interacted in a more active way in normal gameplay, it would be much more appealing. In Lego Racers, you could build your own car, and then drive it. Putting many pieces on it would make it heavier and harder to accelerate, and placing a greater amount of pieces on one side of the vehicle would tend to make it tumble. It was a much more satisfactory experience than LUs building interphase.
