Is there any non-lego wire that can be used instead of the "technic flex cable", that does not damage the lego tubes? And if not, is there any non-lego flex-cable-and-tube-combination that is somewhat compatible with lego (around the same size) that people are using? Edit: another question: How are these types of cables called in other fields? With just "flex cable" I cannot find anything...

Lovely build :) Great idea of using the L-shaped bricks against the doors!

Yep, Bricklink seems to have both https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=32138#T=C and https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=65098#T=C now :( Shame, since a lot of sets in the past even used that to make lasers, like in Exo Force...- 5,507 replies

The only two unpopular opinions in this topic... Anyway: I hate brown lego, I only use it in moc's if the parts are not visible, so I do not waste the nicer colors. I think it is unpopular because I see a lot of people being happy if they see lots of brown in sets (or am I just not in on the joke?) I like lots of colors (not brown), as such, I like it when technic sets have red, blue, yellow,... pins clearly visible. I think it is unpopular because I see a lot of people in topics of MOCs saying that those should be covered up. Which is a shame in my opinion

Can you use Technic, Pin 1/2 instead of the other pins? Or are they going to put walls in those pins too...? I really do not like those walls in the pins, why would they do that :( As for why it happens more to some than to others, maybe something like temperature or climate?- 5,507 replies

Sometimes it is the color that makes it expensive, so if you can select a different color for a certain piece the price might drop. Sometimes by a lot. There are also pieces that have different versions that are mostly the same, but differ a lot in price. I would sort the pieces by price, and check which prices seem way to high for what they are. Then try to swap for different version or color. Edit: on average a piece is 0,09 euro (dunno what currency you use)
-
I do not sort by color currently, but I do sort by shape. Mostly. Some bricks I only have a few of, so those are put together. Seems kinda pointless to have a box with one piece in it :P Wheels and very big pieces are exceptions, those are put in their own big boxes. Currently I have some closets from Raaco and a lot of separate plastic boxes with lids. I need more storage, but am not sure if I like the closets or the boxes more... And I do not want to buy until I have decided!

Jup, same here. I have it since the technic forum went down and the theme had to be replaced with the one from StarWars. Around that time the town forums changed their theme to a winter theme

Thanks for your answer :) I know BBC and also HTML, just did not know you could use BBC in the WYSIWYG. Expected there to be two modes...
-
I use all pieces I own without checking if they are still in production. I have some lego from the sixties, and would use those as well if I found a use for them. I don't think anyone would refuse to use a part that was produced until 2019, just because we are now 2 years further. This imaginary line of when something is to old to be used in MOC's reminds of the recently bumped topic about "legal" MOC's.
-
How can you use BBCode here? The WYSIWYG-editor here on eurobricks drives me nuts sometimes...

Old fashioned flicker flame light bulb
Lira_Bricks replied to Tube Map Central's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The easiest way for if you plan to keep the flame upwards you could use these pieces: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=4740#T=C as base, with stud downwards https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=20482#T=C through the hole of 4740 from the bottom Flame through the little hole of 20482 that sticks through 4740 And finally the round globe on top of it, so it rests on 4740. A bit like the flames in https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=70608-1&name=Master Falls&category=[The LEGO Ninjago Movie]#T=S&O={"iconly":0}, but with a globe on top :P The harder way: there is a little hole at the top of the globe, which fits the flame. So if you have reeeaaaaly small fingers or a pincer you might be able to get the flame through that hole from the inside. Dunno how you would fill in the bigger hole :P -
Old fashioned flicker flame light bulb
Lira_Bricks replied to Tube Map Central's topic in General LEGO Discussion
As far as I know there is not a single part that fits that flame and is smaller than a minifig head. The smallest that might fit the flame is the globe around the lamp of the Sesame Street set released this year. -
Nice work! :) Is that a blue hammer in the top-window? ;p

LEGO's inexplicable design decisions
Lira_Bricks replied to AmperZand's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Can you keep that aggression for yourself? You talked about the transparent parts being made from different plastic, so I assumed that was the only thing not relevant anymore in the presentation. Interesting article you linked tho. I notice a lot of other connections that I would assume would work, not work. Because there are slight differences in the sizes of bricks. Would be nice if the sizes were more kept the same... But now I am going off-topic I think :D Oh ok, good to know. It is the first time seeing it tho, has this already been done in official sets? -

https://bramlambrecht.com/tmp/jamieberard-brickstress-bf06.pdf page/slide 10. The brick in 41430 is a bit different than the brick used in the slide, but still not enough room. And it certainly does not "click" as a pin should -
LEGO's inexplicable design decisions
Lira_Bricks replied to AmperZand's topic in General LEGO Discussion
One thing that I find strange is how much more Lego is braking their own "rules" in their latest sets. https://www.lego.com/fr-be/product/summer-fun-water-park-41430 has a water-gun that has a pin with stud squeezed into a SNOT brick, which stresses the pin Then there is the icicle in 80106 https://www.newelementary.com/2020/12/lego-2021-review-80106-story-nian.html Are there more illegal techniques that Lego is using nowadays? With illegal I mean what would not be allowed according to that one presentation from a Lego-spokesperson that I cannot find again...
