Hello everyone, My previous layout video got a lot of positive feedback here so I thought I'd post the newest one! Here it is. This is my largest layout yet, including 5 electric points, 3 signals, 1 decoupler, and 1 level crossing in addition to other supplemental sets and 3 train sets (7730, 7745, 7750). I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and it even includes a night section that has the 7745 with lights in it. I hope you enjoy!

7735 was released at the same time as 7745 (1985) and I believe they stopped production at the same time, around 1989, so yes you will see copies of 7735 with wheels that have red pins occasionally. I'm not sure about the percentage of the wheels with red pins, but I can say that while they're not as common as the standard ones you can definitely find them on Bricklink or eBay. Motors used a different kind of pin, the wheel part is a different design- wheels have a smaller diameter towards the center of the motor I guess to prevent derailments. And the wheel part had a hole for the connecting rods. The middle wheel is the only one that uses a plastic pin since the 4 others are attached to driving axles. The pin for middle wheels can be taken out from the inner part of the wheel- but these pins were always black for black motors and red for red motors, to my knowledge. Also yeah, 2 7745s and extras for about $100 is extremely cheap. Congratulations on finding those deals!

Hello all, I have heard some things on various forums about the 7777 Ideas Book from 1981 including a sticker sheet, but when I have looked it up on the internet I haven't found any pictures. Does anyone know if new copies of 7777 did include a sticker sheet, and better yet do you have pictures? I have also seen pictures of the large black steam locomotive with "DB 7777" stickers on the sides of the cabin, but most people say they've either gotten custom/third-party stickers or did some cutting of original stickers, so I don't know if any of these are actually original (if originals even exist). Any information would be helpful!

And here is the video! Let me know what you think of it. I also just uploaded a review of the 7750 Steam Engine, a rare and expensive set- check that out if you're interested in it.

12v trains in alternative colours - looking for some inspiration
Reker1000000 replied to exstatik's topic in LEGO Train Tech
This looks so good! Although, unfortunately in addition to the doors not existing in that color the 1x6 light prism holders in the engine only exist in red and black. I would absolutely buy this if it was a set. -
Hello Eurobricks, I recently got a chance to purchase a sealed 7860 Remote Controlled Signal for a very good price, and it arrived today! I'm sure some of you know by now that I have a great passion for the Grey Era so this was an exciting opportunity for me. Earlier this year I had a similar experience with a 7862 Remote Controlled Decoupling, which I opened and reviewed, and I will do the same with this signal set. I was quite lucky not only to get it for $100 (sealed signals go for around $250 minimum on BrickLink) but also from a US seller, so I didn't have to purchase internationally. The store I bought it from specializes in vintage collectibles so I guess they bought it from someone and no one had purchased it yet. They still have a 7861 for $50 and a 7857 for $30, both sealed, if anyone is interested (here is their website:https://roguetoys.com/) which I did not purchase because those aren't really bargain prices and I have no need for duplicates of those sets yet. Anyways, just figured it was a rare and interesting find so I thought I'd share it on Eurobricks! Check out pictures here. Unfortunately the cellophane and box have some damage on the right side and the front right of the box is bowed inwards, but that's ok given the excellent deal I got. Also be sure to drop by my YouTube channel once the review and opening is up, I will reply to this topic with a link to the video when I have finished it. Later today I will break the cellophane and unbox the set. (my channel if anyone is interested to watch my other videos) -Reker1000000

Thank you all so much for the kind words! It means a lot to me that people are enjoying the content. More specific responses: Yes! This is why I started purchasing 12v trains over a year ago- everything is so different from the trains now and even the 9v era, the electric accessory sets are like nothing else ever produced. And it's amazing to be able to operate the entire layout from the control panel! Thank you sir! Thank you! I typically create a "plan"/plot for my layout videos where the path of the trains is clear to follow- in this case, the 7730 did 2 loops before switching with the 7750/7820 on the passing line which did 2 loops as well, then I switched the "7760" for the 7730 loc off-camera and that train decoupled its wagons for the 7750 to pick up, then it switched the wagons back to the "7760". Last, the "7760" swaps places with the 7745 and the video closes with the 7745 doing 1.5 loops. I always think about the layout plans before I build it to make sure I'm using all of the points and signals effectively (although this layout might benefit from one additional signal). The 3 electric points I got recently were a godsend for creating the extra passing line and decoupler siding. Indeed! Even with the limited space I had available, the full range of remote-control accessories is showcased and used effectively. Thank you for your comment about the editing! I try to make sure everything is smooth, I end up cutting the clips because there's always overlap.

I have just uploaded to YT a new video featuring an even bigger 12v train layout, check it out! I'm proud to showcase the rare 7750 again alongside the 7730 and 7745, plus an engine I like to call the "poor man's 7760" since its structure is nearly identical to that of the 7760 Diesel Shunter except it doesn't have the expensive blue weights and 1x3x2 windows because I built it from a 7865 + spare parts. I've also gotten more points and even a 7862 since my last layout video. Those of you who have watched my videos before will know that I have 3 other videos about different layouts posted as well, which are also worth viewing.

For sure! So cool to open a sealed 12v set. Maybe one day I'll open a sealed trainset Definitely, I have plans to add a shunting yard to my future layouts since I also bought 3 more electric points recently. I'm a bit lacking in signals though since I have 3 trains (7730, 7745, 7750 with 7820) but only 2 signals, so probably those are on the list.

Honestly mine has been working great, very smooth decoupling. I think it really helps to have new aftermarket trainrims.

Hello EB, I'd just like to mention that I recently bought a sealed 7862 Remote Controlled Decoupling from 1981 for a very good price, and I opened it on video. I'm still working on editing the complete video but I will post it to YT and link it in this topic when it's up. It was a real experience to open a sealed set! I've never opened an 80s set before. The box is in excellent condition, before I opened it still in the cellophane, and all of the parts are of course in mint condition. It even had the 1981 small train brochure. -Reker1000000

Hello EB, I'd just like to share with you a new video I uploaded to YouTube yesterday, complete with 80s synthwave music, that is about a 12v train layout I made and features my 7750 I got recently along with a 7730 and 7745. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! -Reker1000000

[MOC] The Milwaukee Road EP2 Bipolar E-2 - in 12V style
Reker1000000 replied to Paperinik77pk's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Davide you've done it again, a beautiful render of a 12V+ locomotive! Those pantographs are truly impressive. -
Yeah, based on observations on various boxes I'm pretty sure they made at least some of the art for the boxes before actually finalizing the design on sets and producing final parts. I'm sure they used inspiration from the 70s train sets for these wheels originally, although I don't know why they would have changed them. Just ask Reza- In addition to several copies (some boxed) he's got one sealed. What I wouldn't give for a MISB 7750... Maybe someday! Although, I don't know what I would do with sealed. I'd want to immediately open it. In fact I ordered recently a sealed 7862 for a very good price and I intend to open it and post to YT!

A few links (hoping they work, if they don't let me know): Here are photos of the front and back of my box, with close-ups of the "ideas" photos. https://ibb.co/album/HXpNP5 Plus more photos of the specific set I scored. Of course including all of the heavy hitters (red motor, black windows, bogie plates + wheels) are present plus a number of semi-valuable parts. And an entire set of stickers, including the one on the back that I have not heard of anyone else knowing about... I'll make a new topic specifically on this and the 7760 at some point soon. https://ibb.co/album/Wx0MXk Funny enough, everything about this set is great but the motor is broken so a replacement one is on its way from Switzerland. Extra points to the seller for fast communication and a fair solution. The motor you see in the pictures is actually one donated from my 7730. Finally, a link to a video featuring the train running on my third featured layout (check my YT channel!) with 7730's wagons (read the description for a cool piece of history on this specific train...). You might see the dismantled engine of 7730 behind the 7745 and 2 spare motors (1 black, from 7865, and the broken red one) off to the side. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n82EI2wlIk8 I actually think that the photo on the bottom left of the front of the box depicts a model that you might be able to build with real bricks but won't work physically. Based on the picture I think the black steam cylinders would prevent the motor from turning, although I may be wrong. Plus, it needs to use 3 2x8 black technic plates with holes while the set only includes 2.

Nice! I love how cleanly you integrated the motor into the body. Reminds me of the road and rail service vehicle from 3677. I have one of those wind-up motors in red somewhere, but no key...

Hello EB, I am proud to say that I've acquired a boxed 7750 recently, which I was waiting on for a while. Looking at some of the beautiful pictures on the box, I'd really like to build the alternate models beyond the B-model featured in the instructions. However, I cannot find instructions for any of them online. Could anyone guide me to instructions for them, or offer some tips on reverse-engineering them with the given pieces in the set? I found this video which features the A-model and B model plus 2 out of 3 of the models shown on the box.
-
I have no words. This is BEAUTIFUL!!! It's captured the design of the train so nicely with proper 12v parts and design. Now time to buy some 7750 parts to see if I can create my own MOC of this engine...
-
Sad! But even packed up, it's still an impressive collection... do you have the boxes? Also, I saw your video before you posted it here and subscribed :) (you commented on one of my videos)
-
Ooo, good idea... maybe I will do the same! Although I think first I have to get more points and a signal + decoupler. Also, one thing: The big black part in the center of the shunter looks like it could be the right size for 2 black weight bricks, has anyone done this? Usually 12v locomotives have 2 weight bricks and I can't see the red ones there, also it's not large enough to accomodate weights anywhere else... Or would these weights interfere with the middle pin of the motor?
-
I might have to build this nice engine this weekend... Now try the red shunter with the red motor on pages 14-15 and the small red electric locomotive on page 22!
-
Yesss! And the red shunter with the red motor on pages 14 and 15! I don't own this book but now I want to buy it and see what I can make!
-
Imagine if all of those windows on the sides were 1x2x2 black train windows... that would cost a fortune to build! If my count is correct and we're going by grey era standards, there would be 20 1x2x2 and 14 1x1x2 windows!
