LEGO Monkie Kid 2021
a guy from somewhere replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I have a bit of a dilemma, I was wondering if anyone here owned the ninjago hydro bounty and the monkie kid secret HQ set. I have the opportunity to get one, but I’m not sure which. I do not own any monkie kid sets, however I plan to pick up most of the ninjago sea bound wave. If anyone has both of these sets, which would you pick? I’m leaning a bit more to the HQ however as I plan to pick up most of seabound, and the bounty is an amazing set anyways, it’s very tricky. Considering that the MK set could retire later this year as well, I am well and truly stuck. I will also ask this question in the Ninjago thread as well as it gears towards both themes. -

And too anyone who owns the sub speeder as well, can it’s front wheels flip up and down or just down? They flip up in the show but down in the set, and I haven’t seen anyone do it in any reviews. -

Ah thanks, the set wasn’t up on the UK page. Mech looks alright, but damn the bone mech actually looks good. If you want to simulate the scene from the show, the mini monkie mech polybag would fit in scale with the demon scorpion. Not feeling too good about the UK price now, for some reason the price in euros was 45 for the mech and 50 euros for the noodle tank in Germany, but the UK it’s 45 pounds for the noodle tank and 55 pounds for the power loader mech. Not happy with that. But that’s going off what promobricks payed for the 2 sets in the German store yesterday. The bone mech is a stable 90 pounds. -

Sets are now up on Lego.com, bone mech does transform into a rather small scorpion, now the small legs make sense. Looks pretty good, still waiting for the power loader pics. The tank looks pretty good. -

In the show it first showed up as a massive scorpion mech. Damn I would love if it could transform but I think the legs are too small. I think thats my problem with it, it looks far too top heavy. If you can, go see it in the show. Its season 2 episode 10. It looks way more defined, and the legs are huge, it actually looks like it could be supported on its own, whilst the sets legs look far too spindly and small. For me, it looks too top heavy, spindly and messy. but hey, I'll wait to see the final pics. -

After looking at the better pics from promobricks, that demon bone mech doesn’t do it for me. It’s too much off a mess, I can’t really make anything out. Will judge when we get HD pics but at the moment, not a fan. -

In all seriousness, I think I’d like to see it in final pics before judging it. At the moment, just because of the lighting and the way this picture is taken, I’m quite divided. It looks skeletal, which I know is what they where going for, but in the show it’s much more built up and looks like a proper mech. This looks skeletal for the wrong reason, it looks like lots of technic and weird spikes. I like the mid monkie mech though. I’m also surprised the king isn’t in this as well, he plays a major part in the end of the episode this shows up in (no spoilers, but holy crap it was amazing) It almost looks like a reskin of the iron doom, although this is probably going to look wildly different once it’s in final pics. I don’t know, it’s just the stance, the single head, and 2 swords. It all looks like a replica. -

So one set left, and it has to include MK and lady bone demon as the other sets don’t include MK either. I’m putting my bet on a bone mech however it seems that it would be more prominent in the next season. Any ideas if Mei’s jet will show up in the show as well? -

I’d also like to see these pics, especially as the creator of that video that showed the set in hand said it was 2 separate molds. -

One interesting thing I have looked at is the fact that all the flashback scenes are from wu’s memories, so in theory that means the scene in merlopia was before we saw them in seabound. Curious that wu knew about the trench and what inhabited the area, but didn’t say anything when the ninja departed. It also doesn’t give us a straight answer to what happened to the twins, as we know wu survived the explosion, so does that mean they did too? I guess they still do have potential to be back. On a lighter note, 10 days to the sets! Reviews should be coming soon hopefully! -

I agree, in terms of villain vehicles, the sea bound wave has been a real let down. However Im more of a ninja vehicle person myself. Im pretty sure the island is one of the only waves where we get an almost 50/50 split of villain and good guy things, but only because it was so small. Seabound only really has 1 villain set, the temple. We don't even really get any cool side builds anymore. Apart from the mini subs, and Kalmaars chariot, and I don't really count the MOTM waves as the side builds where part of the game. In all lego themes, I've always enjoyed side builds. Whether its small catapults or just straight up chunks of rock. They bring a lot of playability into the sets, and its nice giving the antagonist at least some chance when they have to fight against a massive 4x4 or some flying ship. The only side builds I really remember disliking where the Monkie kid cloud roadster demon vehicles, and at that it was only the trike thing. All other lego side builds have been pretty solid IMO. -

I’m not sure if they are actually one piece, however they may be due to the plastic and the fact that the O2 tank comes down to the belt height. Maybe the tank is like a flexible rubber piece, where you slot the belt but onto the legs, bent the rebreather part up and slot the torso in, then bend the rubber but back down and put the head on? But that would cause stress on the part. Confusing! -

Another teapot tease.... at this point it’s basically confirmed that Nadakahn is returning. You can’t keep putting stuff in like this and not do anything with it! -

So apparently the marvel summer sets are showing up in Woolworths in the UK, wondering if any other sets where spotted there. Pretty crazy that the summer sets are already being sold, but soon June will be soon us. In the meantime I’ll share these little Subs I built when we got those blurry prelims. I have to say, I think I prefer my design over the official ones, the canopy on the official sets sticks up at the back which doesn’t look good IMO. -

A couple of vids for the sets have come out, I’ve only seen the hydro bounty and the speeder car, they’re promotional and on Lego leaks. Also tooth dominos has confirmed the other set he did was the hydro mech. I thought so, he’s developed a certain style. https://mobile.twitter.com/Toothdominoes/status/1389621468565229569 -

I have to say, the back of the bounty looks kind of small. I was sort of expecting more space back there. The other sets are pretty cool though, however looking at the submersible attack pods, is that really how har the canopy closes? I was really hoping it would make a perfect seal, but it all looks like it’s about a centre meter open on basicly all the official pics. Not cool!
