Since we're not in combat anymore, you should not be confused and shouldn't need to take a remedy.

    "Sure I did. But I see a lot of rats. They usually steer clear of me. The last one I saw turned and went that way. What did he do?" The cat points in the direction the heroes had first met Cheepy. Will they head that way?

    The heroes rush out of the sewer system the way they came in. Upon exiting, they run into a familiar face. The cat gives a little hiss at Cree before turning to Kellim and Quintessa. "Hello, friends. Good to see you again. Thank you again for your help. You seem in a hurry. Where are you off to?"

    "He has to have gone by the same route he entered. It's the only way. I doubt he would visit the same scene that he met you at unless he lost something there, so he probably would head in the other direction. As he will be carrying the statuette, he should be hard to miss as it may be small, but he's almost just as small. Good luck heroes." Bonaparte turns away quickly, as if lost in thought. Do the party have any further questions to ask Pemo? Pemo trembles upon seeing the fury of the barbarian.

I gave him half the reward I promised you, because I told him that you had already completed a good deal of the work and deserved compensation for it. He left in a huff and a hurry." Bonaparte opens the chest and gasps! "The statuette! It's gone. Gone! Wait...there's a note. ...Damn him! He stole it. That wretch. He took it and all the money with it. I will tear him to shreds for this! Heroes, you must find him for me. He can't be far. Please! I've been played for a fool, if this note is right, and have been swindled by Cheaky the Ripper, one of the most dangerous characters in his line of work, if one can call it that. Please, apprehend him and bring him back here with the statuette and the coins. I beg you."

    "What exactly happened in that farmhouse? How is it that Cheapy came without you with the statuette." As he speaks, Bonaparte makes his way to the chest by his side.

    The heroes enter Bonaparte's "office" to see him sitting looking about the same as the first time they met. "Good grief! Heroes! Are you still around?"

    I'm pretty sure Pretzel returned it to Thormy in the hall. Whatever the case, loaned items should always return to their owner at the end of the quest regardless of whether they're returned in character or not. But yes, Pretzel is evil like that.
