Heroica RPG - Quest #59: Rito's Resolution
Palathadric replied to JimBee's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Perhaps we should stroll down and watch the progress below deck. I am not at all one for magic and the like itself. Mages are dangerous folk tampering with something they think they know much of, but actually know next to nothing about." -
Heroica RPG - Quest #59: Rito's Resolution

Oh, right, Aura goes into effect right away! "Well, I most certainly am not just bones and skin being held together. I've got my fair share of flesh to go with it. Furthermore, I am by no means a ghost, nor a spirit of any kind. Although I believe if you hang around our party leader long enough you may catch a glimpse of his Guardian Angel. When one is a paladin and has trained well in the building of his faith, even more than the building of his strength, then that paladin's spirit or Guardian Angel as some call it, becomes much more visible to the paladin himself and even those around him. I was a paladin for many years back in the day before I devoted my time solely to studying medicines and the gift of healing. I may go back to my former ways though. At least, try to regain some of my former strength so that I can use my power to protect people from harm instead of just patching them up after they've experienced it." -
Eric's not being lucky wouldn't really make a difference since he rolled "shield" first both times. However, if you just count the first three rolls as the rolls he and Nerwen gets, then it actually may be even better for the party since Eric would still ravage and hit and Nerwen would perform a blood ritual which would heal Guts. So if Sandy were to take back Eric's "luckiness" it may actually benefit the party. ...alright, Eric's pockets may not be quite as full, but that's a minor detail really. I would like to see somebody attempt to sell a lucky die/satchel of awesomeness to Fabian. How much would that yield, gold-wise, I wonder.

There is a certain pleasure received from seeing Eric and Guts slice through the enemies, and fill their pockets like crazy, but not as much as the pleasure of seeing them get wounded.

Heroica RPG - Quest #59: Rito's Resolution

Shouldn't Maurice's Guardian Angel go into effect right away? I now wish I hadn't given Monk Pretzel an aversion to mock combat. I have passed four hundred and fifty years of age already some years ago. Don't get me wrong, I am not one of those elves. I suppose a hidden power dwells within me and keeps me going. I have to say that in my younger years I used to move up and down the lands fighting hordes of evilites and the like, and freeing oppressed lands, but since my return to Heroica just about a year ago, I have been enjoying a quieter life, I must say. That's not to say I haven't seen my fair share of action. We rid a land of an undead king, a Draugr, who was plaguing it. Later on I led a party in cleaning out the vault of the Commerz' family of the vile pests that flooded it. I have to say that it was not what I expected. I saw a hero fall and die therein against a monstrous beast. Thankfully, I slew the beast, so it will never rise again. The young lady, Mizuki, was with me on that quest. Since then, I've been doing odd-jobs around the place, helping people out here and there. The life of a hero is not a lucrative one, but we do make enough to keep us going. I heard word that people refer to us heroes as sell-swords. Honestly, if I were selling my sword, I would sell it for a much higher price than what I get here, if you understand my meaning. I cannot say though, that there are not those among us who are more money-minded than anything else..." -
I think group fights in the arena is definitely necessary, because apart from mage and clerics fighting, or effect-dealing weapons, there has not be too much strategy involved in the arena fights, which makes them kind of dull. Great rap duel!

What can I say? My vanilla town record is by no means great: killed by scum late on, lynch early on, killed two other townies, killed by vig relatively early on by game days. Ah well! Oddly, the only game I "lost" was the game where I was killed off by scum. Anyway, thanks for hosting, Bob! I seriously screwed myself over pushing for the lynch of Badboy and Nightshroud. Odd thing was that by the end I did think Peanuts was scum, but I thought Badboy and Nightshroud would make a better lynch, but I rest my case.

I think I recall that one time the heroes were allowed to finish off their duel in the arena, even though they went on a quest, because technically they would've been finished or something. Can't recall who it was though now. Though I do think it makes more sense to just terminate the duel...I suppose.

Nice turn of events, Zeph! Although attempting to sap the Chaos out of Eubric alone, not to mention all Uland.

Just confirmed it myself. Perhaps, Sorrow, realized that Raider is the way to go. ...He just gave "Ravage" a fancier name.

What the devil? I thought Gold Reaper doesn't deal any damage besides assassinations. Will have to look that up.

Why wouldn't it?

I go back up on deck and speak with the captain. "So, how long have you been captain of this ship?" I query. "I know the Bonapartes keep the seas around Eubric itself relatively free from pirates and the like, but these days how is it further away from the freeport? Every had any serious problems?" -

"Bah! Kids these days. Don't know anything about anything!" Hearing, Dek'ra's comment to Maurice, I mutter, "No doubt, little villain. It would seem like something you devils would do to cause wars and strive wherever you can!" I continue surveying the room. -
Apparently I've got decent reputation with the Guild of Invision...and Monk Pretzel is against that sort of thing. But imagine being able to make my own gold...and eat it too! Wait, are witches getting gold now on their shield rolls?

What the devil are you doing here without signing up! Sign up now, which reminds me, Scuba has not signed up either. Seriously, Fhomess, sign up.

Has Danny of the Long Legs become affiliated with Donny of the Wolfgang? They're seaping into our midst!

"Gambling!" I snort. "I really would not advise that you do it. Fighting for sport is also a worthless and needlessly gruesome pastime!" I stroll around the room casually passing my eyes over the goods and trying to determine what they are. -
Thanks for the clarification Pandora and def. What's a "miller?" Also, wouldn't it make more sense to just have normal blockers who can block the conversions, than special recruitment blockers?
-
Um, Doc, Brickington should only have taken 2 damage not 8 since he was fighting in the back row. ...Correct me if I'm wrong.

Seeing the others carrying on their separate conversations, I turn to Harkenshire. "So, warden, where do you come from? How long have you been with Heroica?" JimB, I think you can assume that William is equipping the Fancy Shield... Hope all goes well with the chemo, Tanma. -
What does "giving a certain amount of doubt to failed inductions"? Does that mean that if a scum blocker blocks the mason, the mason will think still think that his conversion was successful, or... Also, from the other point it seems that only certain townies will be able to be converted by the scum. Will the players who are convertible be informed of that?

I was just kidding with the 10%, although I was hoping for something. 100 Gold would be great, but if you want to give less that's fine too. "Deal!" I shift away uncomfortably from Denerii. It seems she loves this little devil thing. I must watch out for her! I spy Donny boy! And I love the ship, JB! I didn't know such a tiny thing could look so brilliant. -

Great stuff. The first one is especially fantastic.
