What's wrong with 1 round battles? We need more short battles. Why not hike up the Levels while dropping the HP...significantly. Kill or be killed. You either take out the enemy or you're toast. I don't think there should be much need, in general, for battles to last longer than 10 rounds. I agree. Balance your quests as if different classes were involved. Of course, you may not be able to do this all the time, but for instance, slapping on an "immune to insta-kill," even though there's no assassin in the party, just makes it seem more real and not like the guy would've been a walk in the park to defeat had the party thought to bring an assassin along with them. Okay, maybe that was a bad example... Looks like Thothwick has a new disciple. It's funny. Pretzel would join their side, not being a fan of witches himself, but I think he's even less of a fan of monkey-men and dead-men-walking.

Heroica RPG - Quest #69: The Hook on the Other Hand
Palathadric replied to CMP's topic in The Heroica Archive
Sorry, for my absence, and thanks for moving on without me, CMP. I believe the catapault should be facing the other way, as we're trying to shoot them onto the plank. "So, who's ready to make the jump. Best to do it now while my Guardian Angel is protecting us from injuries. Erik, are you going to let the demon shoot you up or will you shoot him up?" I target the assassin again. Battle Order: Erik Dreyrugr (I'm not sure who's doing what though) Nessa Pretzel Sylph "Nessa, perhaps if Erik is busy where he is, you could attempt to vault the demon up their. Let's hope your strength will do it as I doubt your body weight will do much." I chuckle. -
Eh? Most of the suspicion was because of Kristina? I beg to differ. I think most people would have gladly voted him over Byron on our second night here, but some were worried about us not getting any lynch at all. I think very few people found Byron more suspicious than Dogukan until some started suggesting that others were trying to get the lynch away from Byron. Furthermore, I would find Kristina's testimony highly unconvincing if I did not already suspect Dogukan seriously. On another note, if Kristina was scum, she would have known that Shane was not, and would probably not have based a lying accusation on one scum blabbing to another if she knew that the suspected scum would turn up town before the voting got underway. Metagaming? I'm not metagaming anything. I don't recall having even been in a similar situation as this with you before. I don't know how much perspective we can get from Person A. Either Person A told Dogukan or not. If Person A did tell Dogukan he must be scum, if not then chances are that he's town, and if he's town he's more than likely the protector. Yeah, I'm relatively suspicious of all of those fellows. Some less than others. I didn't really think of Dexter as being scum at all until his suggestion of the investigator targeting Dogukan, but I still don't really think he's scum. Most of my list was also based on what I saw before Night 3, and I would've possibly added Bernard to the list for his ultra-quietness until he had his mental turnaround. Still, I did find it odd that out of five suspects, three were from the five that did not vote for Byron, and only two were from the nine that did. Well, it wasn't actually very clear, but okay... I'm sorry, I don't follow at all. Is this supposed to be telling somehow, or do you just like the way I used the words? Why would you like to think that I made up a list? I have not gotten around to talking about Dexter and Terrence, I've been on duty, but in case you didn't realize I was just working my way through people in alphabetical order. When I first listed that my list was similar to Patricia's it wasn't that I had seriously contemplated much, but I looked at her list and I thought, yep I do find most of those people pretty suspicious. Later on I decided to take a more in-depth look at each person to clarify my mind a bit. I got through the first couple and decided to post my thoughts so everyone else could benefit. Thanks for working on my section.

Sorry for not being online for the last 70 hours or so. We had some flooding in our area over the weekend, so I had to help out and stuff. -

Mafia After Dark - Night 3: Reservoir Dogs

Candy has also been rather odd. I don't really know what to think of him. He had a very lazy attitude on the first day and night and in general made wishy-washy statements (not to be hypocritical ). He was called out by Patricia and gave a weak response, finally voted Redblade, and then we saw this: The first part comes after Jamie commented on a number of people saying that I "never sat well with them", etc after Dexter and Shane offered their suspicions of my thinking there wasn't much to be learned about speculating on the kills. It seems like Candy did not think at all before posting his thoughts about how suspicious I was and had to quickly come up with something, hence he settled on some obscure statements about my being a corrupt cop, etc. That already sounds like he's not really interested or actively looking for suspicious people, but then he makes the oddest statement about Jamie protecting Byron. He then gets Jamie's vote target mixed up with his own and imagines Jamie was going after Rolfe. It's possible that this was just a slip of the tongue, but was there a cause? It seems odd to accidentally insert the name of the person he was voting for himself. Perhaps he had forgotten whom he was accusing because he never really was interested in accusing them at all. Oh, and then today there's this: Now I have my doubts about this Person A and Kristina's tale, but Candy seems a little too desperate to find out who Person A, who could be our protector...possibly, is. Sorry if this all came out a bit jumbled and mixed up. I'm in field work for a reason. Wasn't organized enough to sit behind a desk at the police station. By the way, can't say I've noticed anything incredibly odd about Cebastian. No real suspicions there. Colin jumped on Shane from the very beginning. Now Shane was acting a bit lackadaisically, but I kind of agree that there wasn't much going on and Day 1 lynches often don't turn out particularly well or helpfully. When Colin first jumped on him, I thought it seemed like it would be an ideal opportunity for scum to try to out a strong character early on, especially since Shane was doing little to protect himself, but just stating his feelings bluntly. However, when Shane continued on that path, I thought more and more that he must be scum. Colin disappeared for a while then, and after that he's not really done much at all. His post today was rather odd, but he did manage to give us three suspicions at least. Something odd about him though, is that for someone who has a record of getting killed early on, he's still alive and kicking and doesn't seem very helpful. I would imagine that somebody of his reputation would be much more influential in helping town out, but he's certainly not been that way. Apologies if sometimes I'm just recalling former events. I didn't want to start quoting all those posts, as some of them are quite long. Hopefully this will give you all at least a little something to work with. -
Mafia After Dark - Night 3: Reservoir Dogs

Adelaide has not really been on my suspicions list ever, but she has hardly spoken about anything except the "policy lynch" issue. She argued it with Jamie and the captain throughout night and day one, and then did little more than show up on night two to cast a vote. She hasn't yet given me that scumy vibe yet, and today her speech seems at least a bit more worthwhile. Also, all of the people on her list would be on my list although some further down from the top three. Cap'n Rolfe is a bit of an odd character. He struck me as suspicious from the beginning. He accused Shane of being passive, but then backed down quickly when Shane didn't say anything. Now that Shane flipped town, though, I'm not sure what to think. I would have thought that if he were scum, he would try to use Shane's passiveness to his advantage. All throughout Night 1 and Day 2 he stuck to his guns about policy lynching until it almost seemed a bit forced. You know it's supposedly a town-tell to be stubborn and not back down or whatever, but it almost seemed like he was sticking to a lost cause on purpose to look town. I still think it's very odd the way he seemed to twisty Jamie's words when he voted for her on Night 1. He also insisted on the Byron vote and started it off. Now admittedly I believe I forgot about Byron's Night 1 post explaining his vote for me, but for someone who was actively pushing for a vote on Byron, one would think that the captain would have been studying his words a bit better. Cap'n Rolfe was also quick to agree to Dexter's statement about the cop investigating Dogukan. All three of those people I have my suspicions on, but I think Dexter would be to a lesser extent than the other two. Still, I'm not sure if two scum would try to jump on a move for the cop to investigate a specific person when one would probably be enough. It doesn't seem likely. Actually, looking over this list reignites my suspicions of Cap'n Rolfe, but, perhaps Jamie's thoughts on him being town decrease my suspicion. -

The Great Byron (Bob) - 9 (Capt. Redblade, Trumpetking, def, Palathadric, Cecilie, Purpearljellyblob, Pandora, Kristel, jamesn) Cap'n Rolfe (Capt. Redblade) - 3 (Adam, Captain Nemo, Peanuts) DoÄŸukan Akbulut (Dragonator) - 1 (Bob) A dead person (Shadows) - 1 (CorneliusMurdock) Kristina Malone (Kristel) - 1 (Dragonator) Oddly enough, most of my suspects did not end up voting for Byron. -

Interestingly enough, I'd have an eye out on all of the current "associates" of the family. Not all of them make my list though. Dogukan is certainly on it. He's said nothing of worth and hasn't even tried to appear helpful. The only times he's really talked was to defend himself. I don't really know if I can list the two next people I find the most scummy, but I can tell you that my list looks pretty similar to what Patricia gave us. -

Really. I thought the purpose was that the nephilim would kill off all the heroes as that's why there were no more heroes later on. I figured Sandy had balanced it in their favour, but maybe I am wrong, which gives me a new hope. -

I lurch forward, attacking the blue assassin again. "It won't be long now. Perhaps we will defeat him without even needing to get there. "Erik, maybe when you're not longer in the grip of the bolas (how'd you get in them anyway. It must have been the demon who locked you into there, since he is the one who carries the bolas in his possession), you could have the demon or one of us form a lever with a barrel and one of these planks and launch you up to the assassins level. You could use your cloak to form a balloon should you fall. Once you're up, I can come and join you." Battle Order: Pretzel Nessa Sylph Dreyrugr Erik -

Mafia After Dark - Day 3: 25th Hour
Palathadric replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
If the investigator finds scum then I wouldn't have a problem with him/her outing herself, taking a hit for the town in order to catch a scumster. However, you said you'd feel better having cleared him as town, suggesting that you would want the investigator to out his/herself in order to tell us if she discovered him to be town. Considering that he's not been particularly useful, I would hardly consider this worth wasting the investigator over. ...But perhaps I misunderstood you? -

Mafia After Dark - Day 3: 25th Hour
Palathadric replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Considering that we aren't allowed to communicate privately, to me it would seem like a real waste to investigate Dogukan and have the investigator out himself publicly. Furthermore, as stated by Patricia, there is a lot of not good things that can happen when people start trying to tell the investigator whom he should look into, etc. Kristina's tale seems a bit convenient, but she has done little to throw me on her trail before now, and I'd certainly trust her over Dogukan any day. -

Mafia After Dark - Day 3: 25th Hour
Palathadric replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Because one of them appears to be twatting to Dogukan and only scum would be allowed to talk to one another, presumably (obviously Kristina would be an exception). If Shane was town, he could not have been the one twatting, so it would have had to have been person A. I would support a lynch of Dogukan.
