  1. Looks military. Will probably be canceled.
  2. TECHNIC MOTORBIKE CONTEST - INFORMATION TOPIC Some of you have asked for a contest with a limited scope and a narrowed down goal. So here it is. This contest may keep you guys busy during the holidays. DESCRIPTION Build a motorbike (like the 42107 Ducati Panigale set). The model is limited to motorbikes, no regular bikes. The model should have 2 wheels, or 3 wheels if it has a sidecar (no trikes). No tracked motorbikes and no motorbikes with 2 wheels and tracks. Your model should implement as much functionality as possible, like steering, suspension, fake engine and preferably a gear box. The model doesn't need to be inspired or based on a real world motorbike. The deadline date is Monday, the 8th of February 2021. The contest will be closed on Tuesday, the 9th of February, OR LATER. Disclaimer: I will close the contest when I see fit, and when I have the time to process the results. This can be later than the deadline date. Please don't complain about this not being fair and all. RULES AND REGULATIONS The following section describes the contest-specific and general rules and regulations. But before that, please take notice of a simple motto regarding the Eurobricks Contests: CONTESTS ARE FOR FUN! Of course, there's competition, but at the end of the day, LEGO is just a hobby and the main goal for each of us is to have fun! CONTEST SPECIFIC RULES AND REGULATIONS Each model should have 2 wheels or 3 wheels if it has a sidecar. Yes to sidecars, but the base motorcycle must be able to drive on its 2 wheels. No trikes. No tracked motorbikes. No bicycles. No hoverbikes (the wheels should be touching the road). Each entry needs to have a name (no name, no entry). Model Team style building is not permitted. You can use system parts but keep it mainly Technic. Mindstorms and LEGO Electronics are not permitted. SBrick, Buwizz and PFxBrick are not permitted. 3rd party Strings, Hoses and Rubber Bands are permitted. 3rd party tires are not permitted. Other 3rd party parts are not permitted. GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS The contest is open to all EB members (also new members). Members can be banned from voting (when vote rigging is suspected). Voting rules will be explained later in the voting topic. One entry per member. Entries need to be new (never posted anywhere previously or shown at an event/LUG meeting). Only physical builds, so no LDD or other virtual entry. If you have any doubts about the suitability of your entry contact me, or Milan. All entries are to include only real LEGO. No clone brands, 3rd party parts, or digital entries allowed. Custom stickers are allowed. No cutting, sculpting or modifying parts. Entries are to be placed in the entry topic in this forum. Entries not in the entry topic are not eligible for voting. The entry post may be edited at any time up to the end of the contest, so feel free to make improvements if you wish. The contest might be closed later than the deadline. Don't complain about this not being fair. You have enough time to build. Don't ask for more time. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not follow these rules. These rules can be changed whenever we see fit to ensure that people follow the intent of the contest. Jury members are not eligible to participate. WHAT DO I NEED TO ENTER? All participants need to create a discussion topic and create a post in the entry topic. DISCUSSION TOPIC A discussion topic starting with [TC19]. A discussion topic needs to show some actual progress (i.e. pictures of the build in progress) and should NOT be used to "reserve an idea". ENTRY POST The entry post in the entry topic should contain: Entry name One or more images (max 4). You can have combined pictures (4 in 1) as long as the picture isn't bigger than 1024x1024. At least one image of the chassis, so take a pic where we can see the chassis before you close the bodywork. Embedded video is not mandatory this time Link to your discussion topic VOTING The voting scheme will be public voting only, but only by members who have 50 posts or more. If you have fewer posts, you can vote, but your votes will be automatically excluded from the tally. Voting criteria are (in no particular order): Quality of the build. Looks (shape, color scheme, etc). Functionality. Originality. PRIZES Unfortunately, there will most likely be no prizes for this contest. Of course, the winners will get their tags and eternal glory!
  3. I have split the CAT topic into a separate one, so you can go nuts. And one for the Mercedes.
  4. Most likely explanation is that they are using the same orange rims in a City set or something.
  5. Cross beams...wow. Didn't expect them to be found in the Technic line-up. But since most of the clone other brands use them, I reckon TLG had to produce these. Those tires are really cool.
  6. Color scheme looks a lot like BOOST. Not too big of a fan, but I reckon it's okay for a race plane.
  7. This one looks radical!! I do like this pair of pull backs.
  8. TLG does extensive research and they have over 80 years of sales figures. They probably know what sells and what not.
  9. Because that doesn't sell (well enough).
  10. Great news! @steph77 has sent me a prelimary contest setup (Motorbikes). I won't be home tonight, so I will try to get it online Saturday or Sunday. We will move the GBC contest to 2021, sorry about that.
  11. We planned a GBC contest and we were in the process. Still like to do that, but I have a lot on my plate as it is. I'm cool with doing a motorbike contest to keep you guys busy during the holidays, but I will need some help setting it up. And I won't have sponsored prizes, well maybe some small sets or a coffee mug or something.
  12. Unfortunately, that's not how Technic works nowadays. Pins and axles have a plethora of colors to make them easier distinguishable. You'll get used to it
  13. Glad I'm not alone Unfortunately, the poll is still broken. We're planning an upgrade, which will hopefully fix this issue. I don't understand this comment. Maybe it's not to your liking, but it clearly looks like a Jeep.
  14. PS @mostlytechnic your floor works really well as a background. Next year we will be changing the hobby floor to a combined office-hobby-storage-floor and my permanent photo setup will probably not come back. So, I'm looking into other solutions and your's seems to be working well Your floor kinda matches the photo's TLG is including with the press releases nowadays.
  15. Welcome to EB! Obviously you are entitled to your opinion, but it always makes me wonder what people expect of a Technic Jeep in this scale? I'm sure 99% of the potential customers will immediately recognize this model as a Jeep. And again, this is a Technic model. Not a scale model or something. Maybe the problem is that you are too much of a Jeep aficionado
  16. I think it's a great looking set. It has working suspension and steering (and a winch, but that doesn't count). And I love the wheels. For me, this is a winner, especially in this price range. I do agree this set could have easily been released without a license. I don't get that either.
  17. Great review! I did spot a building error though. You properly aligned the stickers for the front grill, while the box clearly indicates they should be misaligned I absolutely love this set btw. Not sure why, but for me it's somewhat reminiscent of the 8846 - Tow Truck. Just a simple good looking car with nice bodywork. And of course those tires! Will be picking it up as soon as I can.
  18. Very nice creation, again. That 5x5 matrix allows for such an easy way to make you go "ahhhw tha's cute"
  19. Hi, You can change the firmware to SP. It's basically the same hardware with different firmware. Care to elaborate about the functions/feature you are missing and which are provided by 3rd party contributions?
  20. Yeah, we really want to get the Christmas contest back on the calendar. Since we need to ship the prizes ourselves, we are very limited. But that doesn't mean we can't have the contest.
  21. This is exactly the problem at hand. You should not be intimidated (although I understand you are). This is not an "expert Technic forum", but a "Technic forum". Creating a "Beginner MOC Topic" isn't such a bad idea
  22. The respect is completely mutual. However, I don't think that being a bit more polite and understanding (in general, not you personally) limits the way you can express your criticism. Of course, you don't need to sugercoat every sentence, but adding some friendlyness once in a while won't hurt. That's all I'm saying.
  23. Let's not forget that most of us have been around for a decade (some more, some less) or so. In the beginning you are enthusiastic about being part of the community and making lots of posts. But after ten year you tend to skip the "less important topics" (with all due respect). I do think that giving a simple response is better than no response at all, but that will diminish the quality of the topic. On the other hand; a topic with no responses isn't exactly a quality topic either.
  24. You can, but there are different ways to criticize. And not all people have the ability to do it properly. This is what is usually posted: "Your suspension will never work." While this is how a post is supposed to be: "Nice work on the car. However, I do think you will run into problems with your suspension. You could try modifying x or y so z won't happen. Good luck with the build"
