The concept of the MoM is to keep it simple. Maybe we can change it MOCs of the Month, so we have a bit more freedom in choosing several MOCs for the Hall of Fame.

It might be cheaper to Bricklink the missing pieces. Having the 42006 will get you started. I see you already purchased some PF elements too.

Boring is an understatement

Because we live in the present Pro builders are more likely to have their MOCs immediately frontpaged, so we MIGHT exclude them. We still need to see how things will work out. No definitive rules, decisions, game plan yet. We'll see how things progress.

Winning a contest makes you a Pro So no patting on the back We're going to try the MoM concept, but if it doesn't work, we'll just stick to the Hall of Fame for frontpage worthy MOCs. Let's not worry too much and see what happens.

We are working on a Pro tag for Technic Pro builders. When you have the Pro tag assigned, you will automatically be in the Pro category. This will be the pro tag, once it has been uploaded to the server: That will be too much. Every tag needs to be made and uploaded to the server. This might work out for some months or years, but it's not easy to maintain. And we might add models to the Hall of Fame for other reasons, so a generic HoF and/or MoM tag will be easier. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, but let's keep it a bit more simple.

And let me be clear; the MoM isn't necessarily the most outstanding MOC. It can be a newbie's MOC who's made a lot of progression. The Pro builder's MOCs will make it to the Hall of Fame and Frontpage anyway. Soon we will have the Technic Pro tag. Maybe we will even exclude Pro builder for MoM, or we will have two categories, normal and Pro.

Agreed! I will add the contest winners to the soon-to-be-created Technic Hall of Fame (for exceptional MOCs, MoMs and Contest Winners)! Contest promotion is on my "to improve list" for next contest by the way.

At first glance the rules indicate that when a skill is involved, it's not called gambling. This goes for the UK and The Netherlands.

Building requires skill, so technically it's not gambling. But it's a valid point. Maybe it's wise to look into it

Count for what? Does it count for being the first to have real flying Lego machine? No, it doesn't count. Does it count for having fun and earning respect from fellow members? Ohh yeah! Will it be frontpaged? Not sure

Bummer! On the other hand; I could do a bank transfer to the winners. Important thing is being able to receive money....which ultimately could be done via bank transfer as well, but it's easier to collect all fee's via a single channel. True. That's what I am aiming for!

That's indeed a tough question. One option would be to let contestants choose for themselves. But would that be fair? Another option would be for a jury to decide, but we don't know the skills of every builder. Maybe Novice class has a single winner, Amateur 1st and 2nd and Pro 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Prizes can be higher in Pro class, to stimulate entering Pro. Thoughts and suggestions are welcome of course.

I was wondering whether you guys are interested in a payed contest? EB budget for contests is limited and since there are lots of themes, we can't always run a Technic contest. So I was thinking about having a payed contest. Something along the line of: 5 euro Pay via Paypal First 3 places get payed ("cash" via Paypal) Maybe we can have two or three categories next time, like Novice, Amateur and Pro, so people will have a fair chance of winning. There will still be free contests, but to increase the number of contests we could do a payed contest every once in a while. Let me know what you guys think? I wanted to start a poll, but first I need to get a feeling about which questions to ask. And whether there's any interest at all.

Not really related, maybe a bit, but I would like to add something like this to future contests. Having multiple categories to compete in. Otherwise people might stop entering contests, since they have the feeling they won't win anyway. From now on the Technic Forum will have a MOC of the Month (MoM) award. As the title suggests, this is an "award" for the best MOC posted in that specific month. Who decides what's the best MOC? I do, with several gifted Technic members We keep track of the MOCs and at the end of every month (beginning of the new month) we will vote and I will frontpage the MOC! And what is the reward? Well, I just told you....you get frontpaged! That's it?! Uhmm yes.... Oh, and you will receive the special Technic MoM tag (available soon). Oh, and you will be added to the MoM Hall of Fame (available soon). Why MoM and not MotM? MoM sounds and looks better What happens if my very special MOC ends up second, but it still is way better than the previous or next MOC of the Month. Well *scrapes his throat and talks with a Dirty Harry voice* Then you are sh-t out of luck! Exceptional MOCs will bypass the MoM qualification and will be frontpaged right away (or when building instructions are available). You are allowed to post suggestions in this topic, but the jury will be well aware of all the MOCs and we will be keeping track ourselves. So, we will pick from our own list, not the MOCs posted in this topic. So, allowed? Sure! Useful? Doubtful
