  1. Fantastic Bobskink! I have no idea how customisers like yourself pull this off (which may explain why I'm so awful at it) but he looks fantastic. I can practically hear Ron Perlman's voice. I particularly like the larger hand, and while a more minifig looking headwould've been nice, this still manages to look easily Lego-ey enough while being recognnisably Hellboy. Batbrick Away!
  2. This is probably the aspect of Return of the Jedi that bothered me the most, even as a child. I can accept and sympathise with the tragedy of Dark Vader (discounting prequel backstory), but his final scenes in that film didn't depict a character who finally realised his wrongdoings but was left no time to atone, it presented him as fully redeemed for saving his son. Even as a kid, it struck me that the entire morality of it was centered only around the protagonists. Sure Darth Vader resulted in the death of millions, but he saved his son. Redeemed! Whih is irritating, since the tragedy of never being able to atone for all he'd done is his last moments would've worked fantastic both as punishment, tragedy, and revealing his better side, whil still playing toward the archettpes Star Wars is founded on. Batbrick Away!
  3. Thanks guys! Though I have been folling the show since mid last year. I think you're on the first page actually with Brave and the Bold. So good start there. Oh hell yes. Adventure Time is freakin' awesome. Princess Bubblegum cracks me up, and the episode with the Duke is one of the most weirdly awesome things I've ever seen. You'll be coming up to "No One Can Hear You" soon. That episode is creepily effective. I think someone on another forum summed up what makes it so good to me, that underneath its silliness and craziness, the surroundings of the world they live in are really depressing and post-apocalyptic, but the main character's optimism means he believes it can be better, and as a result it is. Also its got a Vampire Queen who plays guitar. Which is awesome. Defiintely sonic rainboom. Actually, I'll post my full reasons for liking it here that I put elsewhere: Its a good show with great, developed morals and more nuanced storytelling than most films I've seen. It has neat character subversions and great references (never thought I'd see The Big Lebowski references in an MLP cartoon). The animation is also amazing. And just as importantly, I'm a strong supporter of any cartoon for girls that isn't just excusing itself as terrible because of its target audience and instead giving positive messages outside of the typical Barbie cliche. And also because it represents a lot about the whole New Sincerity movement of approaches to texts that I love - no longer basking in irony and satire and taking things apart but instead unironically making a sweet and optimistic product that is simply fantastic. By the way I love your avatar iamded.
  4. I'm interested in seeing where this goes. I agree, time dilation is spooky, though I think Shwartz is right to be more afraid of Valkyrie at the moment. THanks KDog, great to be back, things are much better at the moment thanks. Ah yes, I'll have t download that again, it was saved to my old computer, and looking forward ot that story too. One overall note I'll make about the 50 or so comics I had not read before when I did that big read through is that I like that various story arcs are getting on the move agsin, after a bit of a slower period. I also understand your frustrations mentioned in some of the notes about the comic being restricted by its medium, but I think its generally more that the ones that went outside that Lego medium were largely just for parodies and references. The strip where Shwartz recalls that trippy foreshadowing dream during Date Night worked excellently because it blended drawings and photos as part of the story. - Thomas
  5. Holy heck that's looking good. Love the way the awesome roof doesn't detract from the rest of it. I agree the lower roof looks better, is it very stable? Batbrick Away!
  6. Ah thanks, must resist urge to build time machine. No don't do that! I live in the shadows! Bricky shadows, but shadows nonetheless! I must say I'm loving the look of this new Batcave, really Adam West style compared with the other one. Batbrick Away!
  7. Well, obviously an MLP fan here as well, but this year my main anticipation is Legend of Korra, which is shaping up to possibly be better than the original. And a female non-stereotypical protagonist? Knowing some of the cartoon industry, I wonder how they got away with that in such an unfortunately boys targeting industry? Also very sad BTBATB finished, but twas a marvelous show thatp erfectly juggled superheroics, inspiration, pure silver age wackiness and a whole lot of heart. My favourite animated show ever, Naoki Urusawa's Monster, is one I will never not mention. It is my favourite text, though very dark (in a thoughtful way, not needlessly dark like so much other things), so many might be put off by its themes and pacing. Batbrick Away!
  8. Boyo did I choose the right time to come back here, I'm gonna have to hold off posting my Lego Batcave until I get these new additions to intriduce. That said, quite disappointed the "Dc Superheroes" license is confined to "Batman and we crammed a few others into one set". Still, Wonder Woman is the coolest superhero ever, so its a step up. And I'm sorry to be that guy, but does anyone know if these are in Australia yet? Batbrick!
  9. Thanks for the review AlexScammer, as a big Batman fan it seems I chose the right time to return to EB and Lego enthusiasm. I snagged all the Batsets last time, barring the Catwoman one, and instead got her as a keychain. I'll definitely be getting this, and I love the minor minifig variations, as well as those Batwings. And hell, purple Catcycle by itself would've made the purchase. A one thorough and well pictured review! Batbrick Away!
  10. Shwartz really is the master at managing to keep the things he likes. I wonder if we'll ever find out the exact details of how he managed to get his ship. Batbrick Away!
  11. Hey KDog, sorry I haven't been following for quite sometime, y'know rough patches in life and all that. I am very much looking forward to getting back into my favourite webcomic though, and hopefully a much more consistent Eurobricks visit schedule. I reckon I'll read from the beginning again to refresh myself, and because I love it naturally. Also, congratulations on the Tv Tropes page! EDIT: Halfway through the Christmas Calender so far, and Verwaand's being the universe's chew toy will never not be funny. EDIT 2: I can't believe I never caught onto the Legion of Doom references with Valkyrie's home. EDIT 3: As a relatively recent (last 2 years) Doctor Who fan who leapt right in, I'm loving all the references. EdIT 4: Meteor Madness totally tastes like Purple. Or Snosberries. EDIT Fnarg: Now that I've seen and loved Goodfellas (love me some tracking shots) I can now see the homage. EDIT 6: Date Night Part 6 is still one of my favourites. A fantastic sense of foreboding, foreshadowing while still being true to the characters and comedic. EDIT: Heh, I use the "Screwed with a capital F" line in daily conversation now. EDIT AGAIN: Yay Red is getting screentime! EDIT NEARLY DONE: Okay, THAT is the best take on the Mayan conspiracy I've ever heard. Batbrick Is Back (Hopefully to Stay)!
  12. Love the very Zurgish element of one of the engines. Not an idea I'd thought of, but I wish I had. Lotso seems very appropriate too, I assume he's taken the position of Sebulba? Batbrick Away!
  13. Tangled. Loved every minute of it. I recall the trailers leaving a bad impact on me, but it proved to be one of the best film experiences for me in years. Batbrick Away!
  14. Hey KDog, I just want to apologise for not commenting recently. Busy part of my life right now, but I've still kept up with your comic and am loving every part of it. The Hooting Space Monkey storyline cracked me up, and I'll try to write a bit more soon! Batbrick is Still Alive!
  15. Timey Wimey. Doctor Who has never been about consistency or scientific accuracy. Just good stories and fantasy.
  16. I love Hugo Strange so much, a vastly underrated villain. I really hope he's the main villain of the game. Loving the trailer, and is that really Christopher Lee? Because if so, stroke of genius there.
  17. I see you're wearing a pair of these - Batbrick dislikes sweeping generalisations sweeping 30 years!
  18. You have my deepest condolences. Batbrick Away!
  19. How is that ironic? Disagreed. Anyway, movie I can't unsee is Mirrors, one of the bad "Horror films with no horror" that my sister hired out, because she wants to watch a scary movie that doesn't scare her (Yeah I don't get it either).
  20. The Roger Moore technique! Is that a TMWTGG reference? Great comic as always KDog, this one had me laughing a bit actually after the recent mystery-oriented ones. The luchador guy made me laugh. Batbrick Away!
  21. Definitely, watched this a while ago and found myself totally absorbed in it. A great film, with some neat twists. They are indeed brilliant, my favourite, like most, is The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, though I love Lee Van Cleef in For a Few Dollars More. The films I most recently saw were Toy Story 3, and Shutter Island. The former I cannot give praise enough for, I feel it is the best of the trilogy. As for Shutter Island, I quite liked it, the twist is obvious to anyone familiar to such films, but I feel this was intentional, as the film plays with its own cliches creatively, so you get so familiar with what you know is going to happen, you are completely ignorant to the smaller twists and happenings which take you by surprise. All in all I thought it was very good, though not in Scorsese's best range.
  22. Haha! Excellent comic KDog, that is certainly a weird thing to come in a Lego policestation, I guess the designers have some fun of their own. And man, that cop is an idiot So can we expect more of your stuff now? You've been on a vacation recently haven't you? Of course I hope I'm not being pushy, you owe us nothing after all :) I'm Batbrick!
  23. Thanks for the fantastic review TheBrickster, I always enjoy your insightful comments, and the detailed look at the theme is greatly appreciated. I agree that the theme is certainly a more modernised version of Johny Thunder, though personally I think the Mechanic's shirt "holes" are patches of oil, since his profession makes such a thing inevitable, as others have said. I quite like the look of the set, and the minifigs are lovely. I will likely get it, the theme is really shaping up to be a great parts supply. I'm Batbrick!
  24. Hey KDog! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but rest assured I've been reading, and have really enjoyed "Jenny" so far, especially the conclusion. Currently going through an exam period over the next couple of weeks, but will definitely give more thoughts soon! I'm Batbrick!
  25. A brilliant recreation of the District 9 scene Atin, I adore how you've made the prawns, especially their legs, I imagine it would've taken a while to think up. The cluttered look of the place is very well set up as well, I can tell that you haven't just strewn everything around everywhere, there's a method behind how you've placed all the trash and junk. It certainly emulates the gritty sci-fi fell of the film excellently. Batbrick Away!
