  1. Thanks for the review. I am on the fence for this set. The troopers look nice, but since I don't have much use for EU SW it is tough to say how this would work for me. The speeder looks useless (but I guess it adds playability). The figures are the main draw of this set. If I ever see it discounted, it may be worthwhile to pick up. I also like the use of different heads, even though they have been used in other sets before, but it's nice to add variety to the armies.
  2. Thanks for the review. It is interesting see which pieces are available. The troopers look sufficiently detailed, but I still don't think I'll pick this up. I love minifigures, but I'm not building up any SW armies, so this wouldn't be for me. But it looks like it has some nice army builders and I do like the droidekas.
  3. Brilliant! I love all of your MOCs, but they keep getting better. The colors work well together. I love the entryway detailing. I love the bushes and the phone! Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see more. Any chance of seeing your entire city together?
  4. I love it. I agree about it is odd seeing it with snow due to the normal climate, but it is brilliant! I would never think to do this, but I'm glad someone did. You MOC'd it perfectly. Keep up the good work!
  5. I didn't know that either. I still won't get the set, but that is an awesome feature! I am going to order Kraang's Lab Escape tonight, just because it is cheap and I want a Michelangelo!
  6. I haven't seen it yet, still need to find a babysitter for the little one. Although she did watch LOTR with me.. But I will probably see it in regular format, so I won't be able to comment on the 48 fps. However, I love Gollum. He is one of my favorite characters, so I would imagine I will like that Riddles scene very much then. I am more than okay with these 3 hour movies involving Middle Earth. I don't feel like LOTR was long at all. I have only watched the Extended editions and I never get bored during them. I would imagine I will feel the same with this movie.
  7. I agree. When there are just 2 figures of a certain kind per box, those become the rarer figures, even if they aren't the most desired figures. For the people wanting a complete set, buying a box makes the most sense. For people trying to buy multiple sets (as some do) it will be incredibly difficult, especially with the rarer figure out there. Even if it wasn't the army builder but the least popular figure, it would almost become the more popular option because it is so rare and finding it would be a big deal. I'm sure this doesn't make sense. I haven't collected a complete set, nor will I unless I buy a box for myself, but I would hate to be left with multiples of figures I don't care about and never get the chance to pick up more of the figures I do care about.
  8. Price variances aren't fun at all. I do know if I lived anywhere else in the world I would not collect LEGO due to the higher costs. For this set, I forgot to mention earlier how much I love the torso prints. I like how most of the torsos don't have skin tone showing so you could use it for either Yellow or Licensed. However, even if I didn't change the theme, I love the colors used and the printing. I love how they made Bombur, but I also like his torso underneath his beard too. His torso still looks plump enough, so it would work for other MOCs.
  9. Realistic or not, we need more LEGO Gingers! I hadn't considered epaulletes. That might be a good idea. Show a picture when you do it so we can see what it looks like (please?).
  10. Thanks for sharing. These are some great modifications! The GE does look grander at this scale. I considered doing something similar, only different, but I didn't want to spend money on a 2nd GE with all of these other great sets to get. But I like what you did with it. If I had more space, I would probably do something similar to all of my Modulars. But the breadwinner here is the corner apartment building. I love the angled front doorway and the steps leading up to it. But I mostly love how it isn't scaled that much larger, but still allows ample interior living space. If you did make interiors, that'd be an ideal place to start. Maybe your daughter will want to add to that one instead of the GE. She could make it a perfect little living space. Either way, thanks for sharing. Great work. I can't wait to see more.
  11. Thanks for sharing. This is a great MOC. The bell-tower is brilliant. I love the vicar too actually! The design of the exterior is spot on for a nice village church. I considered doing a church, but I assumed many people would do one so I was going another route. But your church is a fresh take on everything. Good luck in the contest!
  12. Thanks for sharing. This is a really neat build. I agree, let's see it in brick form! Money is no object right... With that said, I do love the bridge and stream idea. I would almost want to borrow that for an official set. The green preserver/wreath is a good idea. I looove the bookshelf. I always struggle with making nice looking bookshelves, but this is brilliant and simple. I may have to borrow that too (if you don't mind). If you can, try to enter something else in the contest..on second thought, give us a fighting chance so don't enter anything!
  13. Neat little build. Interesting idea for a winter village. I think I'd be too cold playing games out in the snow (I guess snowball fights aren't for me either). Good luck in the contest.
  14. Thanks for the review. I just built my copy last night also. I loved it. I wasn't too keen on the set when I first saw it. Then as time went on I still wanted other sets before it, but after building it I was instantly in love. The build is fun. The set looks great finished. The coloring is great for MOCing or Bag End. I'd almost picture some more wood though instead of all grass, but I still love how it looks. The figures are definitely a hot seller for this theme, but if they do more sets like this one, I can see it being a great theme overall. I didn't notice the SNOT window not being snug I guess. I must not notice little things like that. I love the design though. And it is one of the few sets my wife loves too (she isn't into LEGO, but is supportive). So with more sets like this, she'll be more on board to buy them!
  15. That display is awesome! I agree, I'm not too interested in this theme, but just seeing that does make me wish I liked it more. But there are too many sets out there to get, so lines have to be drawn somewhere! Maybe I'll change my mind once the gorillas come around.
  16. I think the return of a castle theme would be a good idea. I will still buy the LOTR/Hobbit sets the most, but I may be interested in getting back into castle themes also. I loved Kingdoms originally, but since I have so many dragons/lions, I really don't want any more. So if it is just those two factions again, I probably won't buy the sets unfortunately. We'll see what happens. The more I look at the Joust, I don't want it as much as I initially did because of all of the other great themes/sets that have come out since then. My kingdoms buzz has run its course. But hopefully these new sets will entice me to buy them.
  17. I am unable to view that video because I'm on my work computer, so I will check it out later. But I've never been into Superman either. Always been a Batman fan, like many others. But I did like the teaser (even though others didn't) and I'm sure I will like this new trailer. I will definitely see this in theater. I only rented the last one and was disappointed, but I believe in this movie. Origin stories can be bad if done too often, but since so many people have different takes on the origin, sometimes a new origin can work out in the movie's favor.
  18. I like the Fantastic Four characters, but I agree the movies weren't ideal. I didn't mind the cast so much, but I think it certainly could have been better. I haven't given it enough thought to give examples though. I do think Hulk in Avengers was done properly, so CGI for Thing wouldn't be that bad, especially considering the time since the last movie and maybe more money being spent since they rake in so much these days.
  19. This would definitely update it, but I guess I haven't paid enough attention to notice the subforum titles. I just know which forums to go to look at the topics I want to. But I guess since I look at it every day I have that knowledge. If I was a new user, I would probably be a little lost with some of the topics. But the Mods know what they are doing and they are very busy, so I will leave them in control. Thanks for the suggestions though. That does seem to smooth things over a bit.
  20. Neat scene. The skeleton is clever and I love what you did with that horse. A brilliant use of pieces to convey a story. I hadn't considered killing anything before, so this never crossed my mind.
  21. Oh I did, believe me. I think I'll keep her. I can't wait for images of the summer wave, but I think I'll take my time and enjoy this Hobbit wave also.
  22. I haven't read the book (or seen the movie obviously), but this seems very fitting indeed. I like the snippet they show in the preview. Have fun at the show! And keep up the good work.
  23. Nice little scene! I do like the trees also. very clever usage. I was just thinking of doing something similar only not vertically. I was going to add in more angles on regular tree arches, but this works really well. Thanks for that. Keep up the good work.
  24. I love the rock work and the trees/shrubbery. Very clever usage and I may have to borrow some ideas there. Good luck in the contest!
  25. My TRU had all of the sets except the Lair. However, the prices were ridiculous. There is no way I will buy it for those amounts, so I will just wait for S@H sometime, or other stores. I know I will not pick up the whole line since I don't care for the new villains. So I am going to pick up Kraang's Lab Escape, Shredder's Bike, and the Lair. That way I will get the main figures I care about with some foot soldiers. I will have to bricklink April, but the rest of the Baxter set doesn't interest me (Baxter included) and I don't want multiples of each Turtle.
