  1. All the sets are sealed, condition as far as I know is solid.
  2. To me, the sets that would probably be in highest demand are a remake of the truck chase and a remake of the Raiders intro temple. Those are probably two of the most quintessential scenes that have enough action to warrant a set, and have been proven to be feasible as sets that, in all honesty, still hold up to this day. I would love to see a Grail Temple, but I'm worried that between the Raiders temple, the Temple of Doom, and the Grail Temple, we'd only get one, and I think the Raiders one would be the most popular. The other limiting thing is that Temple of Doom only has so many viable sets, since about 75% of the movie takes place in one location. Realistically, the Shanghai car chase, the Temple of Doom itself, and the bridge battle are pretty much the only viable sets. My worry is that if they do the Raiders temple, then the ToD won't happen, so then they'd have to probably do the bridge battle at about $20. I think that'd be a great set, but it would likely limit the possibility of any other $20 sets, such as the motorcycle chase, which would also be great to get.
  3. TBoBF set ideas based on the first two episodes. Spoilers ahead!
  4. This is a bit of random question, but I wanted to get some opinions on it. I have an opportunity to buy a lot (lot as in group, not as in "many") of sealed sets for $85-90 US (not totally sure on the price yet). There are three sets that I'm mildly interested in (I think collectively they're worth between $55-75, depending on how aggressively they're priced), and one that I'm very interested in, 7104, the original Desert Skiff from 2000. I've slowly acquired some of the early 2000s LSW sets, and a sealed copy of this for essentially $20-25 seems like a very good price. I also don't have original, non-flesh tone versions of Han or Luke, so that's a bonus for me, as I really like some of these old style figures and builds. I have no idea on the condition of the boxes, other than them being sealed, but I'd build the Skiff anyway, so I don't really care if the box is crushed. However, I'm unsure if I want to pull the trigger on spending $85 for effectively one set. I could resell the other three, but my concern is that I'd be sitting on them for like six months, since they're also older sets that are so-so in terms of desirability. Anyone have thoughts/opinions on this?
  5. Question for US folks - If ordering from Canada, do you have to pay any import fees/taxes other than just normal purchase price + shipping/handling fees charged by the seller? An import tax calculator told me that there were no fees, and someone on the BL forum also said that US customers ordering from Canada typically don't have to pay fees, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with it. I might be ordering about $60 US (roughly $75 CAD) worth of stuff that weighs about 12-14 ounces. I estimate with shipping it'll come to about $80 USD, and I think that's about the most I'm willing to pay for the order, so if I got dinged with an additional $20 or whatever for import fees, I may not order. Does anyone have experience with ordering to the US from Canada, and if so, do you know how much the taxes may be?
  6. I feel like it tends to vary a lot. I know in the past, some UCS stuff has come out right at midnight, other times it's like 6am, other times I think it's been midnight Pacific time (so, 2:00 AM Central), but who really knows. I wonder if it'll sell out? In the past I would've said no way, but it seems like since last summer almost every SW release has sold out instantly at release. I feel like brand stores will probably have physical copies in stock, but I have no idea about online.
  7. I wasn't even thinking of that, but that would be perfect to fill the $50-60 price slot in that hypothetical wave. A remake of the River Chase or Jungle Cutter would be pretty nice, and a good way to get Marion, Mutt, and Irina Spalko.
  8. If we do get sets based on the original 3 films, there would pretty much have to be remakes in there. Off the top of my head, the only major scenes/vehicles that we never got were: Raiders - map room (I could see this as a set), submarine/boat (unlikely), Nepal bar fight (possible but not super likely in my opinion), opening of the Ark (highly unlikely) and some of the vehicles in the truck chase (which wouldn't warrant a set, they would just be in a truck chase set) ToD - cargo plane (possible, but if they were going to do a plane, I would bet they do the plane chase from Last Crusade), bridge battle (I could see this as a set, similar to the $20-30 Star Wars duel sets), Pankot Palace (I could maybe a set based on one of the sleeping rooms with a secret passage...but that doesn't seem super likely), and Club Obi-Wan (unlikely as a set) Last Crusade - circus train (possible but unlikely), Panama Hat's boat (highly unlikely), the library in Venice (unlikely), tank chase (not going to happen), Temple of the Grail (I could really see this being a set), and Castle Brunwald (I could maybe see a set with a fireplace build and an escape hatch or something, but I don't think it's as likely). Of those sets, I only see three (Map Room, Bridge Battle, Grail Temple) that would really work well as stand-alone sets and would be recognizable enough to where they'd be popular. Most everything else is either too niche, too violent, or doesn't have enough "stuff" happening to warrant a set. Putting my predictions in a spoiler below, just to save space.
  9. If you're a VIP member, log in and go to the VIP page/portal. There should be a tab that says something like "Earn more points" where there's some actions you can take to earn some extra rewards points. One of the options near the top should be this survey.
  10. In my opinion, I think most of the market for older sets would be adult fans or serious collectors anyway. These kinds of buyers probably already are aware of stuff like the VIP program and are probably willing to spend an extra $5-10 to get an older set (from my understanding, if you could just subscribe to this service for a month or two, you could pay a small amount and get access to this back catalog, which isn't a huge deal to me, especially if you're also getting free shipping. You'd effectively be paying that amount instead of paying for shipping I guess it depends what this back catalog would be comprised of (like, is it just their leftover stock of stuff from 2015 onward, or would it be effectively them bringing back the Legends line from the late 90s/early 2000s? Also, would it be limited to sets that they choose, or any set from a certain year/theme? How limited are they? Etc), but I don't really see sets from before, say, 2005 or so selling too well among casual fans or kids, just because the building techniques and intricacy of current models is far superior. I love a lot of older sets, and given the choice between the same vehicle from, say, 2015 and 2002, I might pick the older ones in some cases, but that's almost entirely due to nostalgia. I'd imagine some of the flagship classic Space/Pirates/Castle sets might sell among adults who don't really buy LEGO necessarily (for example, people who remember having it as a kid and want to get it to share with their current kids, or that kind of thing), but I feel like your average Fright Knights set or Armada or Ice Planet 2002 set wouldn't do well outside of that niche collector market.
  11. There's no one out there that hates LEGO quite as much as LEGO fans, that's for sure. I didn't really get the massive explosion of anger about it, anyway. The issue with the brown pins on the legs, to me, seemed like one of those things where if you just yank at it from the right way, it'll come apart eventually. If you're taking the thing apart anyway, no big deal if some extra pieces come off. At least, was how I would approach disassembly of a Technic set when I was a kid (and, actually, how I still do )
  12. You know, I haven't watched any designer videos on the AT-AT or anything, so this was the first one that I've actually seen it in action, and...wow. I didn't really realize how big that thing is. It's impressive, and part of me kind of wants it, but the rest of me can't justify spending that much, nor do I have the amount of space it'll take up
  13. I think you voted for a theme and then could suggest a character? I'm not 100% sure, though. But either way, I highly doubt many people, if anyone, voted for Jar Jar by their own volition. So, whoever took the time to vote on this from the YouTube campaign probably were the only ones voting for Jar Jar as their character. I don't find it too difficult to believe that a lot of people voted for Ahsoka. And even still, I guarantee you that an Ahsoka Brickheadz is going to sell better than a hypothetical Jar Jar Brickheadz, which means there could be more PT/CW Brickheadz in the future, whereas a Jar Jar one selling poorly means that they'll just ignore the PT for Brickheadz further.
  14. Same here for the X-Wing (and the TIE, and the Falcon, actually, I just haven't picked any of those up yet...TIE might be next on my list!). I was going to mention it in my original post, but it also seems like sets have a bit shorter shelf life now, leading to more re-releases. I remember the 2005 X-Wing stuck around at Toys R Us here in the US for what felt like 5-6 years. I feel like now, other than D2Cs and for whatever reason the Darth Vader's Castle that's been on backorder for like three years at Shop At Home, 2 years seems to be about the maximum they'll keep a set around on shelves, even if they pull it, wait a year, and then release a nearly identical model in its place.
  15. Yeah, I'm fine doing that, it's just a heck of a lot more time consuming on a big set like this one, especially since the majority of the walls/structure have to come apart, as does the upper layer of the floor. I'll probably end up doing that just to get it 100% clean, but wanted to see if anyone had other suggestions.
  16. Ah, great insight, thank you! I hadn't thought of the liquid stuff in the canned air. I might try a makeup brush before I take the time to disassemble the whole thing.
  17. Hi all, In an unfortunate neglect on my part, my copy of 75222 has become quite dusty over the past few months. With any other sets I have on display, I either dust them often, or they get moved around enough to where they don't attract too much dust. However, I moved recently, and this set was just sitting for quite a bit of time, leading to a decent coating of dust. The minifigures were separate, so there's no dust to worry about there, but the actual surface of the bricks is kind of gross. I've already taken a dust cloth too it, which took off a layer, but the problem is, in between the studs, as well as some smaller alcoves or little gaps in pieces (such as the bottom of one of a panel piece, or something of that sort), where there's really no way for me to get that off. The two solutions that I've come up with are: One of those cans of compressed air that people use to dust keyboards. Or, take apart the surface layer of the set, wash and dry the pieces, and then put it back together. I'd like to try the first one, but I'm not really sure if it will get all of the dust, some of it seems to be stuck in there pretty good, to the point where only water is going to get that out. I have no problem disassembling part of the set, it's mostly the time that it would take to do that, let the pieces all dry, and then put it back together that I'm concerned about. Does anyone have any other ideas/solutions for me? Thank you!
  18. I'm going to preface this by saying that I enjoy all SW media, but do tend to prefer the OT and OT-adjacent era (RO, Solo, Rebels, Mandalorian, etc). That said, I buy sets/merch and watch shows/movies from prequels/OT/sequels. For me, I'm okay with it. If the pattern continues of an OT-centric winter wave, and a mixed wave in the summer, I'm perfectly happy with it. It's unrealistic to assume that they aren't going to have OT stuff on shelves at all times. They're proven sellers, and there are certain vehicles or characters that frankly should be available at all times. You're always going to have new buyers, whether it's kids who are just getting to the age where they're interested in LEGO, adult fans revisiting LEGO or getting into it for the first time, or people that aren't even LEGO collectors but see an X-Wing at Target and think "Hm, that would be cool on my desk" or whatever. Sets like the Millenium Falcon or X-Wing should definitely be available as much as possible. For those that are collectors of LEGO, it gets boring, I realize, but that's not everyone. I've been buying LSW sets for a long time, I believe my first set was purchased new in 2006, so in that span, I've seen dozens of remakes of sets, but I would say that I'm in the minority when it comes to who is buying sets. I'd bet most people haven't been buying LSW stuff for that long. So, in that way, remakes don't necessarily bother me. Additionally, part of the reason that remakes don't bother me is because I don't really feel obligated to have to buy stuff from every wave or anything. I've got a pretty decent sized collection of sets in general, and in the past year, had to downsize/clean out a bunch of stuff, resulting in me donating and/or selling off sets. I was discovering that there were a number of things that I just didn't really need, and that I was pretty satisfied with my collection as it stood. There's a few vehicles or locations that I'd definitely buy if they came out, but if it never comes out, it is what it is. That attitude might be more of just me, though, and I know that's not representative of everyone. I'm kind of the type where typically there will be one or two releases in a year that I'm super excited for and will get almost instantly (this year was the $40 Tumbler, last year was the Cantina, three years ago was Cloud City) and the rest I'll either get eventually or over time might decide that I don't need it as much.
  19. It's pretty much speculation, but based on the recent pattern of releases, MBS seems more likely. Also, there aren't really any vehicles that would be doable at a $500+ UCS style that are both large enough to warrant a UCS that big and popular enough to actually sell at that price. They just did a massive ISD, the Falcon and AT-AT will be on shelves, and I can't really think of anything else that could work at that price point, unless it were another non-minifigure scale Death Star.
  20. It's also worth remembering that this $500+ set has most likely been in development since prior to this summer, before the Gunship was even released. If/when we do eventually get prequel based MBS sets, I think they would want a better idea of the sales figures of them, and at the time when this $500+ set would've been in development, there would've been no current data on how the Gunship was doing.
  21. I agree, but I'm thinking more worst case scenario. Given the pricing of recent sets, I think if we got both, it'd be a $140 Gunship and a $100 AT-TE, but there are some sets that seem very much overpriced still, to where I could see them going more expensive on it. $120 is probably the max I could see an AT-TE costing, but if they priced it at $140 with the intention of it getting discounted down to $120...Unlikely, but possible? I think if we get some Geonosis stuff, between him, Jango Fett, Mace Windu, some minor Jedi characters, and some Trade Federation characters, we're likely to get a couple even if they weren't technically in the exact scene. They do that a decent amount in vehicle-based sets, especially ones where there's only one pilot seat (A-Wing with Ackbar and Han Solo, Y-Wing with Celebration Leia, X-Wing with Dodonna and Leia, TIE with the Death Star Droid, Tank Droid with Jango Fett, Droid Tri-Fighter with Palpatine, etc).
  22. I'm not saying you're incorrect (and you are absolutely right that there's a fine line between wishlisting and guessing, and unfortunately sometimes the latter becomes reported as true elsewhere, as you said), but I do feel like there's a difference between saying the $530 set as Endor is logical versus assuming there's a Gunship/AT-TE coming this summer. Realistically, assuming that set isn't some kind of mural or sculpture (and I highly, highly doubt they would release something of that sort for $500+), there's a finite number of things that it could be that would A) Sell well at $500+ B) Actually have enough "stuff" to be able to be a $500+ set If it is an MBS set, Endor or Yavin are basically the only things that check those boxes, unless they were to go way off the board from how they usually do D2C sets. Again, I want to stress that I agree with your point overall (and I was guilty of it too), but I feel like one guess is a bit more based on history (sort of like how people very easily deduced that a UCS A-Wing was coming even before any rumors came around) whereas the other is a bit more speculative.
  23. Taken from the other thread, here's my predictions/wishlist as to what these will be. Since I have absolutely no way of knowing what D+ sets are planned, what properties are even getting sets, nor what could even come as a set from one of the shows, I'm just going to ignore TBoBF, Mando S3, Andor, and Kenobi. This is just "if these are all based on existing content" and I assume that several of these set numbers will be replaced by models from upcoming shows. 75331 ($530): MBS Endor, includes the shield bunker, 5-7 trees (maybe 3-4 resembling the Ewok Village set on a smaller scale), shield dish, 3-4 Ewok traps (catapults, log smasher thing, etc), AT-ST, 3 speeder bikes, and maybe part of the landing platform. 26 minifigures: Endor Han, Endor Leia, C-3PO, R2-D2, Chewbacca, 2x AT-ST driver, 4x Scout Trooper, 4x Stormtrooper, 2x Imperial Trooper, Imperial Officer, Wicket, Paploo, Chief Chirpa, Logray, Teebo, Nik Sant, 2x Endor Rebel Troopers 75332 ($30): CIS Tank Droid, includes a small bit of Genosis terrain. Includes 1x Geonosis Battle Droid, Luminara Unduli, and a Geonosian warrior 75333 ($30): Snowspeeder, includes a small radar dish or turret build. Includes Luke Skywalker, Dak Ralter, and a Snowtrooper with E-Web 75334 ($50): Coruscant Speeder Chase: Includes Zam Wessel, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Jango Fett, and the assassin probes 75335 ($100): Echo Base: Very similar to the 2007 version, where it's based around the front facade/doors. Includes a docking station for a snowspeeder (included), command area, and part of the medical bay. Minifigures are Hoth Han Solo, General Riekann, K-3PO, 2x Rebel Pilot, 2x Hoth Rebel Trooper, Snowtrooper, Probe Droid, and Darth Vader. I'm predicting either this one or the $140 set are the AT-TE. 75337 ($140): Either this is an AT-TE or Gunship (if this is the AT-TE, then the Gunship is $160). Assuming this is the AT-TE, I'd say it includes the build, a Geonosian cannon, maybe a command post, and some terrain. Minifigures include 4x P1 clones, P1 Clone commander, 2x Super Battle Droids, Geonosian Warrior, Mace Windu 75338 ($70): Republic Y-Wing: includes Captain Rex, R7-A7, Ahsoka Tano, and a 332nd Trooper 75323 ($160): Republic Gunship (includes a speeder bike in the back): Includes 2x P1 Clone Pilot, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padme Amidala, 4x P1 Clone, 2x Super Battle Droid, 2x Geonosis Battle Droid 75339 (price unknown): I'm going to say this is a $20 duel between Yoda and Count Dooku, including a falling pillar and Dooku's speeder. 75340 ($45): Something based on Bad Batch. Not really sure but I expect there to be one set, at least, which includes Omega and possibly Rex. 75342 ($40): Lars Homestead: Includes Luke, Owen, Beru, C-3PO, and R2-D2. Similar in build to Obi-Wan's hut, but two structures. One is the kitchen/dining area, the other is the workshop/garage area. 75343 ($60): Something based on the ST. Again, not too sure what, but I think we'll get something.
  24. $530 D2C is...interesting, to say the least. I'm assuming it follows the pattern and is MBS, so Endor is probably the only logical one there. I highly, highly doubt they'd do a prequel MBS at $500+ especially since this must've been in the works before the Gunship even came out, so they'd have no idea on any sales figures. The large wave is exciting too.
  25. just2good was another example of a LAN member that would regularly criticize stuff LEGO would do and, from my understanding, was perfectly accepting as a LAN member and chose to leave. His reviews seem pretty fair and do often talk about negative stuff (prices, figures, bad print quality, stickers, etc), and he'd even make lists of controversial sets and things like that, which would regularly get a ton of views.
