Nice work. I stocked up on Pet Shop sets. I have 52 modular buildings, 23 of them based on the Pet Shop residential building. I’ve taken the liberty of making more revisions than you. Be careful, you’ll become addicted to building these residential units. :-)

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Options replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I throw the boxes away. It could come in plastic bags as far as I’m concerned. -
Great work. Wish could be the 2021 modular. Get ready to see it knocked-off. Just saying....

Okay, seriously. I’ve built the 10 largest Lego sets. I really enjoy Lego as a hobby. But this piano? All I can figure out is that Lego executives were sitting around, had more than a few drinks, and said ‘let’s produce this piano and see if they really will pay a lot of money and buy anything that we throw out there.’ Their options to see just what people will pay a lot of money for and give unconditional praise to were a $299 Avocado, a $400 lawn mower and this piano. Someone also brought up Old Trafford, but they’d already released that one.

Yep. It is cynical. But, why are they purchasing it? Lego has done an excellent job making the set look like a real NES. So, why not just buy another NES for 40% less and put it on display? Not like you don’t want to shell out hundreds of thousands of euros/dollars for a real Lamborghini but buy the Lego version instead.

Yes, this set is ‘awesome’. I say that because the word ‘awesome’ has come to mean absolutely nothing due to its overuse. The real deal can be purchased new for for under $150 US. What a waste of production capacity to make a model of a less than 40 year old game system.

I don’t have a problem with regional releases. But, don’t put them in the regular series. It drives us completists crazy. I bought two Marina Bay Sands for about $200 each (included shipping) when they we’re first released. The seller was in Japan and I actually received the sets within a few days. The new White House release will be my first ‘pass’ in the architecture series.
-
The lack of any robust discussion of the architecture series on a forum like this leads me to believe the series will probably remain of little interest to TLG outside of issuing sets that make nice souvenirs and can be easily packed in one’s carry-on bag.

The Frank Lloyd Wright sets were outstanding. A large version of any of them would be welcomed.
-
In the interest of full disclosure, I’ve never bought one. I buy modulars, large creator expert sets and architecture. But, I appreciate the popularity of other themes.

Lego police sets aren’t going anywhere due to their sales and popularity. And, big city American police aren’t going anywhere. Why? Google FBI crime statistics.
-
Even as an American who’s visited the White House more than once, this is a ho-hum release and will mark the first building in the architecture series that I don’t buy. From strictly an architectural stand point, while it’s a well know building, it certainly (in my opinion) isn’t a design icon. A building may be well known, but that doesn’t mean it’s on my Lego wish list.
-
Curious. What would the difference be between a new architecture series Big Ben and the 2016 Creator Big Ben? Larger, more detail on both sides? Would people who have the large 2016 Big Ben want to spend what would be a relatively large amount of money on a new version? Just asking, not pro or con.

The Chrysler building in NYC is an obvious choice. It’s classic Art Deco and it’s design would make it less repetitive than the Empire State Building. I’d also like to see the Kremlin, but that might require too many total pieces and too many new pieces.

I am not motivated enough to correct everything that I think is wrong with this design. And, in all honesty, it’s beyond my ability to fix everything that’s wrong. The Lego product just doesn’t look like a Charger to me. Sure, there are hints of it being a charger. Enough to make it look like a Charger. Sort of what like a Salvador Dali ‘clock’ is to a real clock. I drove several versions over a few years when I worked at Chrysler. The design was beautiful. Iconic, even. ‘The designer is working under a limited parts budget and constrained by other factors - playability, safety, buildability, etc., the set is what it is.’ Well, if that’s the case, there are probably some designs that aren’t suitable for a Lego build. And, to me, this is one of them. -
LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I remember standing in line back in 1977 to see Star Wars. Ditto for the next two of the series. After that, not so much. Anyway, bought 75192 a couple of years ago simply to own the largest Lego set. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. Stay at home orders. Covid19. What to do? Go to the storage unit and bring 75192 home! Did I mention, I’m also not a big fan of pins and beams with holes in them? With that said, what a spectacular set! I marvel at the skill it took to design this and put it into production. Over 7,500 pieces with nothing missing. My favorite builds previously were the Death Star and the large Ninjago buildings. But, at heart, I’m a modular building collector. 75192 is near the top of my list. Only questions now is what the heck to I do with this monster? Probably give it to one of the kids in the neighborhood. I spread the build out over 12 days. Challenging? Yes. Frustrating, no. I do understand some of the comments out there about fragility. But, I slid a thick piece of wood under it and move it around with no problems or ‘drop offs’. $799 is a lot of money. But, if any toy is worth that amount, this is certainly it. I know I’m a bit late to comment on the set, but this seemed like the best place to express my delayed enthusiasm about it. -

Okay, so I’m old. I worked at Lynch Road assembly in Detroit in 1970 helping build Roadrunners and Super Bees. Chargers, Cudas were built at other nearby plants. The Lego version of the Charger is an abomination. It’s almost insulting, Can Lego throw out to the market any half baked design and have people falling over themselves to buy it? Uh, YES! From someone who raced a 440 6 pack ‘Cuda and a 383 Roadrunner on Telegraph (and occasionally Woodward) in the Detroit area during the peak of muscle car mania, this Lego set is both an insult and a disaster. The Mustang was right on, this is horrible. -
Well, since I don’t particularly care for the original Lego design, I’m probably not going to like an XL version. Think about a horizontal expansion of some of your buildings rather than just a vertical one.
-
The house is okay. The best thing I can say about the Birch Books modification is that it’s ‘odd’. It just looks terribly awkward.
-
Thanks, herky. So, if I understand it correctly, Lego’s patents on the bricks themselves expired a while back. So, unless he has some sort of non-compete clause with wording not allowing him to use exact Lego type bricks, why didn’t he just use regular size Lego bricks made by another manufacturer? The larger bricks combined with smaller pieces would actually allow for far more detail. herky....the other two FLW sets sit unopened in my storage unit. Had enough fun or, since there’s no sports on tv because of covid19, want another try at one of these?

I have a tendency to give Lego a lot of space, slack some might say, when creating their interpretation of a specific automobile. While my opinion of the DB5 isn’t very high, I think the large VW Beetle of several years back was outstanding, The Fiat is a fair representation of the real thing, even though I think the front 1/3 of the car could be better. I’m a lot tougher critic in other areas where they have full creative possibilities and we wind up with rather lame sets like the last three modular buildings. The Fiat is okay. The color is outstanding.
