LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Driver Brandon Grumman replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
They're supposed to be coming this year. Probably in August. Those are numbers 60273 and 60274. If you go on Instagram and type in #legoleaks and scroll down until you see a drill being chased by a police car. Those are the special forces sets. -

@Klaus-Dieter So no mega set this year. That sucks! -
The green one reminds me of something I'd see for the City theme. Great job!

Tbh, 7 was enough for this year! We still have unsold police sets on the shelves from last year - causing them to overlap. The pull cord helicopter from the helicopter transport also has poor reviews. Though the truck seems to be loved. Should've done a full mobile unit like the one from 2017 if you ask me. -
I'd definately buy!

Good job! Reminds me of something I'd put in a Lego 7Eleven!

@Klaus-Dieter Yeah! At this point, there are only a handful of sets I'm impressed with this year.

They had a fairground pack with Freya McCloud's nephew Billy and a space pack for 2019. That was awesome! -

I actually don't mind the Divers submarines however. From my POV, they did a great job with those. Even the mini submarine has managed to impress me. Though the big ship is a little over my budget and to be quite honest, I think to accommodate that, I'll need a much bigger desk!!!! But the submarines and base are nice though. The airport sets on the other hand.....well I think I'll only be getting the set with the big plane. I'm not too impressed with that 4+ set. I mean, it was made for really little children so I'm obviously not in the targeted audience. But that big plane gave me something that I never thought I'd see in a City set. The ability to transport a car. That one is an automatic purchase for me. For this year's great vehicles, I had to get that ice cream truck and that street sweeper. The postal plane didn't really impress me. I think they should've done a mail van instead. That would've been more interesting. I also have the monster truck too along with the race cars. I also ended up getting the police brick box and using that as my town's police precinct as it looks better. Stripped the big one down for parts. People Packs? I'm kinda disappointed that I haven't seen one of those this year. I'm hoping its a Downtown People Pack with different city workers. I'm also getting antsy with this year's mega set. I hope it hasn't been cancelled in favor of those two new police sets. -

At least there were some sets that I liked. But throughout the 2010s, there were a lot of sets that I had to either further tweak in order for them to meet my standards or I had to just simply pass up. As far as City sets are concerned, I rest my case! The late 2000s was the era for City sets. Back then, you had Police, Fire, Coast Guard, Emergency, Harbor, Garage, Cargo, Farm, Airport, Construction, Trains and Town. Unfortunately only 4 of those survived the dark ages; Police, Fire, Coast Guard and Trains - the first one practically owning the City theme now. However, I feel like Airport is kinda getting killed off this year as it practically got the "back seat" treatment with only three sets (two if you don't count the 4+ set). The 2016 Airport wave was much better because we got five sets that year. Other than the occasional boat set, Harbor is practically dead now. Though I do hope to see a harbor pop up again soon. Lego seems hesitant to push out medical related sets recently with hospitals coming out every 6 years and the occasional ambulance aircraft here and there. Personally, I think those should be given three year status. Besides their cameo appearances in Great Vehicles and some other sets; Garage, Cargo, Farm and Construction are dead....and that's sad. We did get the Turbo Wheels sets from 60255 to 60258 this year. The only issue was that I had to do some serious mods to the service station and the tuning workshop was awesome to have and all, but the garage building was a little too cartoonish for my liking. Kept the vehicles together though. Nowadays, it seems like City focuses primarily on different variations of police, different variations of explorers and mostly action outside of the city. They seem rather hesitant to push action within the city in favor of action outside of the city. Great Vehicles and Town are practically the only things keeping me with City. We still get Trains every four years, but they don't go any higher than a passenger train, a cargo train and some accessories including a station. Coast Guard is a little off balance with its appearance. But rumors are that it'll show up again in 2021. Fire comes out every three years of course and I'm sure you all know that Police is annual. -

Tbh, I'm very disappointed. I was kinda hoping that the unnamed 2020 City sets would be town related sets. Not another wave of police sets. I guess City is once again doing their job of disappointment. -

Yes Sir! He did an amazing job. He likely used a connecting trailer piece for the bendy part. But if Lego produced a bendy bus - automatic purchase for me. -

Getting shorted on Bricklink
Driver Brandon Grumman replied to SD100's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've had a few experiences on Bricklink and it worked out just fine. You may need to look at the reputation of the seller you're buying from. That's prolly why. If they don't have a good reputation, you shouldn't buy from them. -
Is it time for LEGO to stop being colorblind?

You bring very accurate points and I would encourage that you continue to bring up valid points during your time here. I say during your time here as I see that you are new here and tbh, you seem to know a lot. You're not a new member and a noob like I was when I first came here. You came to this forum with brains. Take that as a compliment. However, you stated in your paragraph that it can't represent all races in the real world. Let's not beat around the bush here. It doesn't have to. That's the fun of it. You can do whatever you want in the Lego world. Whether you are a city planner (like I am), an action enthusiast, a roleplayer, or simply just want to have fun: Lego is that place for it. You can have as much fun as you want with yellow people. I have outgrown all my toys.....EXCEPT LEGO. Lego isn't even a toy anymore in my opinion. Lego is a lifestyle. Lego is not outgrowable. But back to the point of yellow people. It's nothing personal and there are no malicious intentions when I stereotype with my minifigs. It's really just something I do for fun. Such as the etheopian burger bar owner, the police chief in my town being jewish or the armored car driver being of Japanese descent (some of her relatives actually live in Nijago City). Just to name a few. -

Driver Brandon Grumman replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
@Aanchir I agree with you 100%. You use yellow for sigfig. So do I. I'm brown skinned, but I don't think it's a big deal to use yellow as my sigfigs skin tone. I just know he represents me. That's all! I really can't stand people who play the race card and make everything about color. If anything, people who do that kind of stuff are the real racists. If you want minifigures who represent black people, then order some off of eBay. But I think Lego should keep doing yellow figs. Personally, I think there is a difference between race and ethnic stereotypes. Black and White are races. African American, Eastern European, British, Asian, Hispanic, Arab, etc are all either ethnicities or nationalities. Lego stereotypes nationalities all the time. Ninjago may use yellow people, but you can tell that they are Asian stereotypes. That's just to name an example there. I stereotype in my Lego fanfiction all the time.....and that's ok. But at the same time, I do try not to be offensive. Because I know that can make me look bad too. Overall, I don't think yellow minifigs are a big deal like people think. Yellow actually allows us to enjoy a hobby without worrying about races. I also am the one who has a say in what goes on in this world and I'm not bound to a particular story. Thus why of all the things I have outgrown, Lego is still in my life. -

@Tusserte I do believe in cultural stereotypes for yellow people though. For example, the guy at the top seems to resemble a redneck due to his shirt and hairstyle. I would've said goth, but his hair color and beard are pretty natural. The young woman at the bottom seems to resemble a working class caucasian with normal clothing and blond hair. I'm assuming she's middle aged due to her facial structure. I've also noticed that Lego has done Asian stereotypes with this hair piece. But there are no races for these minifigs though. Just ethnicities.
