Actually, it was like this. 1 - black 2 - yellow 3 - red 4 - white 5 - blue 6 - green

I had a few of those sets. That theme, along with World City, was the theme that almost replaced the Town sets. Before Chase McCain, we had Jack Stone.

Imagine if all town based sets were printed pieces and no stickers.

He'll need a mansion!

I can't believe it took me being an adult to realize that all three of those sets made a full service station.

You'll have to get every town-based set ever made if you wish to do that, which is extremely difficult given that town based sets date all the way back to the late 70s. I don't just mean City either. You may have to get some Friends and Creator sets. There are also modulars to look into and themes like Disney, Harry Potter, Ninjago and Speed Champions also have some good fittings for towns. Unless you're a multi-millionaire or if you get some people who can donate those sets to you, that'll be impossible to make the ultimate city layout. If you want a Lego town, your best bet is to probably keep your desire within reason unless you can afford to go all out.

what do you call your lego city/ names for lego city?
Driver Brandon Grumman replied to legoguy1984's topic in LEGO Town
Recently I renamed my town to "Builderton". I just love how the suffix "ton" works on words. -
That's true!

I think the 2k Drive sets are just here to promote the game. I doubt they're here to replace anything. Similar to the City sets from late 2019 to 2022 were here to promote the LEGO City Adventures series.
-
With that being said, animal molds sell just as much as rescue related sets and motorcycles. So they explorers sets are here to stay. The stuntz sets are too!
-
I'd fight for the return of the Outback subtheme from 1997. Definately a chance for a kangaroo and bearded dragon mold.
-
I see you are a fan of Paradisa! What's your opinion on a Paradisa revival for City? I know Friends is there, but its a chance to get young girls into the theme as well, especially if they prefer minifigures over the dolls.

Given that Lego has YET to do a town-based City set with wild animals running around, I think City is sticking to what you would see in MOST metropolises. You don't USUSALLY see wild animals running through cities. Only in certain ones. I have another idea too! Collectible Animal Molds (CAMs) anyone?
-
Yeah if you want animal molds, space and volcano isn't really your friend.
-
Well...they call it City, but that's not entirely accurate. Its not really a theme about town building. The City theme itself is the job market from a child's POV. When you are a child, you think of jobs like policing (POLICE), fire fighting (FIRE), railroading (TRAINS), airplane piloting (AIRPORT), building (CONSTRUCTION), saving lives (EMERGENCY), sailing (COAST GUARD/DIVERS) and racing (2K DRIVE/TURBO WHEELS). The explorers subthemes are still kinda in the realm too, especially astronauts (SPACE). I think if anything, with the explorers themes, City isn't actually going against its name, but rather......its evolving!

@Lion King @TeriXeri I think @Quandale Dingle meant generic racing cars like the ones you saw being made for the Race subtheme back in the 90s. When you see the cars from 2k Drive, that's more like a Fast & Furious-style type of racing where you customize cars and race them on the streets. The racing that Quandale is speaking of is like NASCAR and/or F1 racing. Motorsports in other words.
-
I wouldn't really call it a racing subtheme. More like a subtheme centered around custom cars.

To be honest with you though! That kind of stuff can really be its own theme. Sorta like a spin-off type of theme. Its not like its going to cost Lego money. Then you can have all the animal moulds you want. Now that I can agree with. If we had a zoo subtheme alongside the farm subtheme, then it would still be on topic AND it'll still help animal molds to be pushed and sold. Now everyone is happy. Though for the zoo subtheme, I'd call it Wildlife Preservation as a sequel subtheme to Wildlife Rescue. That way, Lego won't face backlash. I meant to acknowledge your subtheme Ideas btw. Personally I don't really see how a school subtheme would work. But that's just me. The school set from 2022 pretty much has a representation of what school is about such as; the paints for art class, the drum set for music, a microscope for sciene, a skeleton for health, a bacteria chart for biology, a rock climbing wall to represent PE (or gym class), hopscotch for recess and a multiplication table to math. Everything except for a cafeteria. Along with a school bus. I dunno. But if City were to have an even better school building that's about the same size as the 2022 hospital, there would definately be more room. Now THAT'S a subtheme that I'd need to save hard for. This year for summer 2023, we have a house, an apartment and a shopping mall (or Urban Centre). I think this can be the start of a subtheme for buildings that don't fit into a particular subtheme. But for me, I'd just put those and great vehicles into the town subtheme, which would fit lesser known lines of work such as the slushy van or downtown set. My favorite topic in City sets. But for me personally, I'd separate transport into two subthemes. As a bus driver, I would be 100% a mini Public Transit subtheme with a maximum of four sets. Along the 60335 Train Station (or as I like to call it, the Transit Center) and the 60337 High Speed Passenger Train, I'd also add a bendy bus set and a taxi set. There is your public transit subtheme. The other subtheme would be Mail and Cargo which would focus on the mail carriers and UPS-style transport workers of Lego City. This could include a mini postal plane, similar to the one from 2020, a cargo heliplane like the one from 2013, a post office with mail van one of the medium base set and a cargo ship dock with cargo truck as the big base set. Earlier in this forum, I came up with the idea of a Petrol subtheme which would center around the Octan corporation's gasoline side and racing set put together. The idea was made back in 2021 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Octan Coorporation. Here they are: Road Rescue - Perhaps some type of broken down car (why don't we try orange or yellow instead of blue or red) along with a tow truck that's the same size as the one from 60056, but somewhat of a nod to the Octan tow trucks of the mids 90s and early 2000s. Race Car Transport - I haven't seen something like this since 2013 when they had the Grand Prix Transport. Given that haulers sell, why not have another one of those. But unlike the the 2013 Grand Prix Transport, this race car transport will have three race cars instead of one. Similar to the indy transport from the 90s. Perhaps the cars could be blue, green and yellow just like them. That would probably go for almost $40. Petrol Transport - As its name suggests, this is a fuel truck like the ones from 2010 and 2013. Race Car Duel - Similar to the fast track finish set - only difference being the road plates being updated to today's standards. The race duel includes a tower where the announcer speaks and an audience stand along with a road plate with a finish line. Red and black cars for this one anyone? Petrol Station - The base set of this subtheme that would go for about $90 or $100. Includes snack shop, garage, car wash gas pumps, electric charging station and Octan versions of Harl and Tread from the television show. Vehicles could include two civilian cars (a blue petrol powered car and a green electric vehicle) and a special Octan colored race car on display that's a nod to 6546. Soccer sets seem to be a thing with Lego. If Lego could bring a Soccer subtheme into City, I'd definately buy. Park sets do seem to be a thing in City. Perhaps a one year test run.

While I do agree with you.... Word to the wise, if its a subtheme that has a surplus of animal molds, don't even speak of cancelling those in front of @Lion King. Because as far as Lego is concerned, animal molds are his life! I'm almost certain that his room is full of them.
-
How about something new? Like a post office? Or a garbage dump?
-
Good ideas, but I think he was talking about other subthemes other than police, fire, hospital and construction.
-
I....think you may be a little too late for that. City only does classic police now and the explorers sets aren't really that relevant anymore. Like you don't see a lot of them, so much so that they are soooooooo easy to ignore that its not even funny. The last special police wave, Sky Police, was so crappy and emergency landed to the ground so hard (corny pun intended) that an embarassed Lego Group hasn't done one since. From 2021 onwards, they've stuck to only doing a little bit of classic police sets every year.
