LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Driver Brandon Grumman replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I wouldn't be surprised if the Lego City theme turned to Lego City Adventures. -
Same here! I just started collecting the rescue sets. Up until 2018, I was only collecting civilian stuff like the gas stations, town plan sets, bus stations and hospitals. My first rescue set was the coast guard headquarters. Then I got the fire station in 2019. So I do need a police station. That isn't really a garage. Looks more like a front gate. That's what I'd use it for.

@chrisb2012 Tbh, it was more fun to name the characters myself. I'm speaking from a child's perspective here. When I was a child, I loved generic themes better because I name them myself and I didn't have to name them their given names. With today's City....you're kinda obligated to name them Duke Detain or Freya McCloud. So now I make my own minifigures. -

Looks like we're in an agreement there! I'm going to miss City being a generic theme. I guess its for the best though. -
Nah! My daughter already has the Fire Chief Response Truck. She's got a Freya.
-
Tbh, I'm stuck between that one and this one. Both of them involve Duke Detain. My children are adopted and both of my boys love Duke Detain. I have a daughter, but Freya is her favorite. I can see why tho.

@MAB To be fair though, this and the bank set would be the only reasonable buys for me from the police sets. Maybe even the helicopter chase. Yes, I understand the target demographic now is children who can get bored really easily and I've got kids too so I do kinda understand. For our City, we prefer simple and playable builds though. That's why we don't do modulars. I don't hate police sets like you all think I do. But....there are times when we'd like to see something different. Not just different types of rescue situations and exploration. But different types of work subthemes.
-
Can someone please give me a good reason for why I should pick this up? I see that it is recieving a lot of hate unlike the other police stations. I would've put this on the 2020 City page, but I fee this is something to discuss on my own forum. l

Tbh, I may just try to snag the old one for a discount price. 60141 was clearly more playable. -

Well....and the guy would need is a cowboy hat and he'd look like Johnny Thunder. So that female could be a nod to Peppin Reed. -

@AMD We just think Lego could've done better with this one. There was the one from 2005, which had some cook features like the light up piece and the titling helicopter pad. The single jail cell too. Look at the one from 2008. Tbh, I was impressed with that one. It had everything I needed (a cruiser, a paddy wagon, a bike, etc). All that was missing was the helicopter. But you could buy it on the side for like what, 10 bucks? That was sarcasm. But back to the point, that was one of the awesome ones. Sold well and playability was a factor, but it looked attractive and tasteful at the same time. Same thing for the 2011 police station. It didn't include a paddy wagon, but some other vehicle - I don't know what it was supposed to be really. Probably some type of SUV. Then look at the one from 2014. Soooooo much detail. I loved the office part especially because of its overall design. It's like you could actually build something like that in real life. That goes for the one in 2017 too. Definitely loved that one. It was fun pressing the launcher and seeing the car fly out. What we're saying is that Lego could've done better and they have. That's all. We're not here to start any trouble or anything like that. -

Except for Star Wars, Creator Modulars, F*R*I*E*N*D*S, Technic and Simpsons. Then there are themes for a more teen audiences such as Speed Champions, Hidden Side and Stranger Things. Friends seems to also target a teenage girl audience along with the little girls. -

No problem! Yeah....though I think Lego actually did this on purpose this year. This was basically a "Get it through your head" act by showing us once and for all that City is not for us. TLG: "Now piss off and stop asking us to do other things other than police! Make your own buildings if you have an issue with what we make!". -

A nice post office to go with it would be nice too. I'll have to build that myself. -

@Maple @TeriXeri I agree. I might be picking that one up. Actually I see some differences. For one, there is an updated emblem on the torso. -

That's why the HQ is the only 2020 police set that I'm picking up. -

LOL! I have a feeling that it'll be renamed from City to City Adventures! With that being said, I think I better expect Harl Hubbs to appear in the service station or tuning shop sets. Mayor Freck should appear again soon. Otherwise, I'll just use this guy! -

Oh why not? When the helicopters would fall and break, that's where the fun was. If they make them unbreakable pull string flyers, that'll ruin the fun. The helicopter chase in that case is the only fun one here.
