Would really love to see a theme where all factions are fighting each other, it wouldn't be bad. Well, as I said, I'm not an expert in these things. I'm only guessing that there probably are casual laws about violent toys an copyrights. It could be that some company says its ultimatum to toy companies that are affiliated with it. (My original mistake in this discussion was saying at one point that Lego actually has a proven reason why to not make any Western or Armada sets. I'm only guessing logical reason for not making these sets.)
-
Aye, I assumed the reason they wouldn't make them is because some might find these sets offensive. But even ignoring that, where are these sets? We saw redcoats, bluecoats, even islanders (sort of) but no Armada. Where are they? There's only one real reason why they wouldn't return them, so making only few CMFs makes even less sense. Maybe, just maybe they are working on some big Pirates reboot. but when will that be out, in 100 years? I am desperate for a new theme but it's been 6 years now, there are no news or even a single hint about a new one. Also, returning back to the starting point, aren't there some rules that all toy companies have to keep? Regardless of all, there's one real assumption we can make.

I would like to ask Lego the same thing, it doesn't make much sense. Right! Forgive my mistake, that was quite the investigation so there might have been few mistakes I didn't notice. You know, this leads to a further problem - the way Lego pleases its fans nowadays. Sure, there might be a bigger connection between the company and the fans now (or the illusion of it) but given all that, they still tend to ignore such things as reboots of classic themes. Also, the pricing and sets for few themes have been getting on my nerves in the latest. Makes me rather displeased with the company (then again, I have been a fan for long enough, might as well continue to sort of support).

I don't usually coment on BoBS but... ...this sold me on the story.

It's not official documents that we can find with Lego stating so but it's a problem that seems to be around for a good 30 years or so for now. In the case of Native Americans, people really don't like the fact that tribes represented in toy form are very stereotypical. I found one specific document that might indicate it further: Now, I don't live in the US, therefore don't know all the big tory marketing companies and so on, however it's a thing that I've been hearing about for at least 10 years. It's the same as Disney not allowing Lego to use ''Slave I'' as the name for Boba Fett's spaceship (in fact, Disney themselves seem to have changed the name officially) and also the rumoured fact that they won't allow Lego to make any minifigures or vehicles for Indy 5 sets (if they happen) that might resemble Nazis. With people being a lot easier offendable nowadays than in, say 1996, it is understandable move for Lego not to make any Inquisition or Native sets (they only make them in CMF form, though). So there is (more or less ) official proof that toy companies won't be making anything that could be labeled as offensive. Once again, I might be wrong, could be that Lego will make Native villages but that seems unlikely (it only seems, we have some weak proof of them not doing that and rumours from all of us). I'm quite sensitive when it comes to Soviet stuff (same as people in Central Europe are sensitive about Nazis) so the fact that Soviet symbols (whatever they were called) are allowed while swastika isn't is so wrong, I'm not saying either of them should be allowed but at least in my country, swastika symbol actually is a traditional symbol called firecross (you can read a bit more here: https://latvians.com/index.php?en/CFBH/Zimes/zimes-10-rhetoric.ssi). So it's also weird for me to see the red star (in this case it's pearl gold) on the buckle of rather accurate Soviet uniforms and CCCP texts as stickers on vehicles in Indiana Jones sets from 2008-2009 (meanwhile Nazis had casual desert uniforms, yes, there were some vehicles in Lego, but I don't think they were much real outside the films). (That was way off-topic, just wanted to bring it up somewhere.)

The right side of Johnny Thunder's hat.
Jack Sassy replied to Jack Sassy's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I found him rather strange and out of the blue. It might because I've never really read much into the Adventurers lore (as loose as it may be) but despite it all, his appearance is weird and so is his name. Feels like another Johnny Thunder opposite, same as Max Villano in the second wave. -

You might want to have a word with Cunningham: -
I would love to see Armada and Wild West return in Lego (alongside with Indy), but they won't make them anymore because of this argument that it's something offensive. Well, I suppose in that case, it also comes down to Native Americans. While they were rightful owners of the land, tribes were too busy fighting each other. It's the same problem as down south. It's really a rather interesting conversation piece. I might gain whole lot of notoriety on here for saying it, but I think that neither Europeans nor Natives deserved those lands.

Not a bad idea at all, nor the build. Personally, I don't like Ikea, it's Swedish propaganda in other countries, also it affects other similar stores, therefore there are no original ideas anymore but just Ikea copycats. But hey, hey. Don't let my personal preference offend you, I'm sure they produce quality stuff, it's just the store in general I dislike. Anyway, back to the topic, good frame, fits the build perfectly. Funnily enough, I'm yet to see someone actually do this (I think) so yer the first person that I see with such idea. Good job!

Sorry, my mistake on the Columbus part, I get tangled in all this history sometimes. But hey, let's not get into a heated discussion about Invasions and tribes, Lego just won't do it same as Wild West. It's the sad reality.
-
1st rate of the line man o' war ship! It could be that Lego won't make them anymore (because Spanish inquisition reflects too much on Columbus' invasion).

The right side of Johnny Thunder's hat.
Jack Sassy replied to Jack Sassy's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
As a kid I always thought that there's just so much wind around him, that the side of the hat is being lifted up by the wind. -
Soon we'll be needing a ship, I think.

It be a long codex book indeed. Now that I recall, besides some colourful Havana-like homes, there might be few tudor ones. But then again, we can find plenty new tudor homes erected nowadays, it's stylish.
-
Alright, aye. But would it be possible to find a town in Caribbean that's made of tudor homes? Which island be that, if I may ask?

I should've noticed it earlier. Oh, I hadn't though of how it is worn in real life, that's a good idea. Perhaps it's just Johnny having a fashion crisis. -
True, but these pubs then would be in England or somewhere else in Europe. I don't think there were any tudor homes in the province of North America. Still, despite all this, you both beat me in this argument.
-
This one is also more of a medieval pub than a pirate one but it has ''Captain's Daughter'' as a title, which, I suppose, makes it somewhat piratey: (A photo I found while doing a quick browse on internet searching ''Lego pirate pub'' . Don't click on it though, it will take ye to deep, dark, shark-infested, mermaid filled and rocky waters of Amazon.com. Does Jose's Inn even count as a house? It could be a tudor house, but that's up to you: To answer yer question, I would expect a pirate pub to look like a colonial building or perhaps, well - this: (It's the best picture I could find, also, I keep rewatching that movie just because of John Silver, he's too good to miss. ) Anyway, you and @Mister Phes win. But still, I WANT A PIRATE PUB!

Well, I suppose. I just never understood about that upside down thing with Aussies. Well, I think the original (and official) backstory is him being an Aussie. -
(If anyone thinks this would fit better somewhere else, for instance, in community sub-forum, then feel free to move it.) Hello everyone, I've been thinking rather recently of Infamous adventurer Johnny Thunder's Australian hat, as we all know, one side of it is lifted up. However, sometimes the side which is lifted up is represented differently, sometimes on the right, sometimes on the left. ^ Here is 3055 Adventurers Car, which is a promotional set from the original wave. As you can see, Johnny's hat has the left side lifted up, however, some of the other sets from the same wave show his hat having the right side lifted up: And so on, only 5988 The Temple of Anubis (name depends where you live) shows his hat with the right side lifted again: Next two waves have similar pattern going on, with few exceptions, then we get to Orient Expedition, the fourth and last wave, here we see his hat lifted on the left side in every set: Even 70815 Super Secret Police Dropship shows his hat with left side lifted. So, after this long introduction, my question is - on which side is his hat considered to be correctly lifted, left or right? All answers, theories and so on shall be greatly appreciated. Jack Sassy

Well, technically it's not a pirate pub as it looks more like a medieval one, besides, the background shows medieval town with tudor houses. I need something real, something...piratey.
-
Well in that case, I suppose we can't do much but sit and wait until lego releases.....a pirate pub.
-
I think that we all could really benefit if Lego released (as we speak) a pirate pub. Just a quick thought. (Alright, I'll stop with the pub, if anyone is to blame, then it's @Mister Phes, but then again, good luck blaming him on Pirates forum. )

Which Lego YouTube channels are best these days?
Jack Sassy replied to Lego Mike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I do enjoy BrickTsar quite a lot, though there's not much planning in his videos. It's just bunch of good time with some cold humour and vintage Lego. It appeals to me. -
Don't worry, I had few times when I thought of someone as scum but in the end they turned out to be town.
