42120 Hovercraft

My guess: pin long with stop bush + 3L axle -
42120 Hovercraft

It is bigger and has more functions than 42002. It looks like a real type of hovercraft, which 42076 did not. And it is not some obscure racing vehicle that most people have never seen like 42045. This is exactly what we need! I really like it and will definitely buy it! -
42120 Hovercraft
Gumalca replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It has probably wheels that drive the propellers, and the steering should steer some other wheels and change the direction of the propellers also. The fan is not driven unfortunately as it seems. -
Yes, I would also add a connection at the end. Maybe the same as the front. Also since you can't connect a half long pin end properly into the middle connection hole, I would make it an axle hole too. At first I was wondering about the 2x2 dimension, because it feels like it still requires a 3x3 space in the end. But it probably means you can put gears right next to it, so makes sense.

42117 Race Plane

With a propeller in the back? No. It's a Delta Ray One RC airplane. -
42124 Off-Road Buggy
Gumalca replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
True. I guess Lego is trying to hard to compete with other toys. For example people who collect brickheadz or speed champions rarely deconstruct their models, so they could buy Funko Pop or Matchbox instead. Hidden side sets loose their augmented reality feature if you rebuild them. Lego is not really focusing on creative building these days. And so a lot of people will never rebuild this buggy into something else, and of course then they will compare it to other RC toys. -

Quite nice. I would have expected some kind of strange hydrofoil, but this is better. -
42116 Skid Steer Loader
Gumalca replied to JintaiZ's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ok, that's probably right. Though I find the big tan gear sticking out from the back a bit odd. -

There isn't much space for a worm gear, I don't know if this is possible. I think the main boom might be raised just by normal gears but with friction pins on one of the axles. -

are the wheels the same as in this set? -

Black bush? And grey axle pin? On the roof of the loader. -
42123 McLaren Senna GTR
Gumalca replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I thought you meant the total panel amount. That's right, the Senna goes really overboard on small panels. And then the new 2x3 panels are even smaller. Can't wait to see if they will come up with more smaller panels ? maybe a 2x2 corner panel for the 2x3 panel? ? -

Porsche 42056 had 92, that's a lot more. -
42123 McLaren Senna GTR
Gumalca replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I already did that yesterday. I guess 18 black, 4 blue and 2 grey. And 16 other panels. 40 all together. And at least 46 stickers. -
The clutch of 42112 is necessary?
Gumalca replied to DHal's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The new clutch is cheaper to produce. Does not have to be preassembled and uses no metal parts. -

No way. There are blue axle pins visible in other pictures, so why include two colours? It's probably blue and there is just a lot of shadow in the spot where it appears black. Concerning the differential after all we have seen I guess now it's unlikely there will be one. I did not expect much function wise from this set, and still they manage to go below that ? Anyway I still like the set and will definitely get it. And about the compatibility to the car transporter: ground clearance is way too low. You won't be able to drive this onto the ramp ? -
42123 McLaren Senna GTR
Gumalca replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Loosing a wheel during play isn't a minor inconvenience. But of course it would only secure it for one side. Another thing is to have differently colored axles to make placing the differential easier. Seems quite a common issue to switch sides despite the hints already given in current instructions. But actually in this set it wouldn't even matter. You are right, it should be a 7 long axle actually... -

Gumalca replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
No it does not answer it. It seems possible, if only there is enough space for the stop end inside of the diff. -

Gumalca replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Can an axle with stop be used on the new differential? I don't have that part, but I could imagine it's possible on the side of the big red gear before you assemble it. If it's red then it wouldn't be a 5 or 7 long axle. Two different sized axles don't make sense, so no. If it wouldn't be connected, then a 4 long axle with stop could be used, but it's a 5 long axle most probably. -

Agreed. I think it might be the steering axle. -

Small news, but someone got the upcoming 3x7 rectangular panel in black from Lego: https://rebrickable.com/forum/index.php?/topic/4065-unknown-part/ I don't think we know already which set the black one will come in? -
I agree with JunkstyleGio! The only trend I see is that many people who build mocs now treat it as a money making business on rebrickable. They only post on Eurobricks here to get free advertisement. I really hate it when they end their posts with click bait statements like "you can find the instructions on rebrickable and build it too" without ever mentioning that they are payed instructions.

Technic 2021 Set Discussion
Gumalca replied to LvdH's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Last weekend in supermarket: a woman had a Lego set at the checkout, asks about the price. Was 12 Euro. She said no, she's not gonna buy. Well, little did she know that was actually 40% off comparing to normal price... This just shows, many people don't have the slightest idea what the general accepted margins for Lego sets are. -
Getting rid of special coloured panels and beams to downsize a collection? Isn't everybody else looking for more panels in more colours? I mean, you probably have more grey beams than you can ever use in a single build, because there are grey coloured beams in every set. Or connectors that mostly come in a few standard colours. I have to agree with Erik Leppen, why not downsize on the common parts?
