  1. Thanks @Kai NRG - Nah this is just a free build (I don't think we're allowed to raise troops in NPC cities?) to show some camp life. I've been intrigued by the mixing of various units together as the troops amass! It's also my understanding that preparatory builds prior to IC combat increase chances of winning
  2. Thanks! Thanks for pointing that out! I meant to add a reference to the tree-growing prickly canpear in the story earlier but it slipped my mind. Added now! "As they slowly inched closer to the edge of the jungle, Captain Hunter had the 33rd deploy a 12-pounder to the side of the path. A prickly canpear fell from the tree canopy overhead, causing the soldiers to momentarily freeze in their tracks. Finally in position, the troops crouched low, ready to spring into action once their presence was known."
  3. Thanks @NOD - Aurelia is the Corlander name for Dragonstone. Aurelia doesn't have a settlement page by that name, but Dragonstone does. Capt Wolf makes note of this name change in the recent MRCA post. Aurelia shares the island of Annetta with Port Raleigh and Elisabethtown
  4. Wanted to add that the tiles capping the wall in the process pic look great, too. I also always spend time on details like that that end up not making it into the final pics.
  5. As I mentioned on Flickr, the forced perspective is awesome here! Great work! The not-minifigs below look real enough to fool my eye on first take Brick-built flag looks great!

  7. After returning to Port Raleigh from his reconnaissance mission to observe Aurelia's defenses, Captain Hunter exchanged his plainclothes for an officer's uniform. He met with the commanding officers of the 33rd Regiment "Red Sons" and Port Raleigh Militia at Flynn Blockhouse to describe the mission they were about to embark on. The following morning, a large contingent of 210 soldiers sailed upriver to the headwaters of Queen's River. There they were joined by 40 Ténotclaxcan warriors raised in Elisabethtown. The Ténotclaxcans had a good relationship with the Corlanders, having traded with them successfully for many years. The native warriors led the group overland along ancient interior paths toward the northeast corner of the island. The group approached Aurelia from the west. Aurelia had only one small fort which was positioned offshore on a small island. By keeping Batterie Royale directly on the opposite side of the city from their approach, the joint Corlander / Eslandolan force hoped the fort would be unable to fire on them for fear of hitting the settlement. As they slowly inched closer to the edge of the jungle, Captain Hunter had the 33rd deploy a 12-pounder to the side of the path. A prickly canpear fell from the tree canopy overhead, causing the soldiers to momentarily freeze in their tracks. Finally in position, the troops crouched low, ready to spring into action once their presence was known. Taking sight of Aurelia's western gate, the artillerymen let loose the field gun with a mighty roar. The shot collided heavily with the gate, blowing it off its hinges. The combined force rushed toward the now open entryway. Unto the breach! @Bodi, @KotZ, @CapOnBOBS, @Keymonus, @Bregir, @Capt Wolf, @Faladrin More Pictures:
  8. While most Corlander officers found quarter at the inns of Westface, NCOs and troopers kept camp in a number of large tent cities. Strategically, the presence of the encampments in the outskirts of Westface added another layer of defense to the town. As Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock looked on at soldiers from the 26th Foot, Elizabethville Militia, and Royal Artillery standing in line together for delicious-smelling fresh fish porridge, he thought fondly of how the gathering of different units from across the Brick Seas presented an unusual opportunity for diverse groups of Corlanders to mingle and share stories of their colonies. Even if the seemingly inevitable fight with Oleon didn't materialize, for the soldiers rallied at Westface the gathering would be a reference point for years to come.
  9. Great design and wonderful interior details! Awesome work!
  10. Great colors and great story! Is that medium nougat or dark orange on the ground? Either way, the orangish color and olive green in combo with slight overexposure work well with the reddish brown base to make it not feel heavy (like my Produce Farm build). Nice work! FACEBOOKED!
  11. Sounds good! I've got a bunch of the PoTC officer torso (maybe 6?) as well as a bunch of the Imperial Admiral torso (10?). I've encountered the reality that many other people don't have the Imperial Admiral torso, though, so it's hard to recreate Captain Brickleton for instance! I like to picture officers using the Imperial Admiral torso, but might be prohibitive to others!
  12. I see here that Allcock is using the newer officer torso. What is his preferred uniform?
  13. Thanks! I was trying to work out something with white pieces that would look consistent alongside those smaller white tents I made en masse for the larger camp scene. The photo for this one was super hard to shoot because the large roof made it super dark underneath the tent. Ended up playing around with Photoshop settings to remove shadows Fun to see your recon build, @LM71Blackbird's marching redcoats, the prep builds - all together feels like the Corlander army is getting its ducks in a row! We had a giant snowstorm here in Colorado (25 inches of wet snow!) and my Allcock/Brickford heads are delayed in the mail until later this week, but hope to have some more builds where you can actually see their faces.
  14. Those flameholders the artillery guys have are pretty awesome - are they official TLG pieces? What's the black/dark brown/dark green plant looking thingy in front of the artillery battery wall? Great array of cavalry, infantry, artillery, volunteers, cows, etc
  15. Awesome build, @Keymonus! I love the building textures and the roofline created by the long black tiles. FACEBOOKED!
  16. Love seeing the marching redcoats! Nice work. Like @TomSkippy, I'd be interested to know how the yellow admirals are made
  17. Thanks guys! Was playing around with hinges and supports. Hope to try some TLG string w/ studs as guy lines in the future
  18. Thanks Bodi - Not sure what you mean about different shades. Can you elaborate? Thanks!
  19. After returning from their reconnaissance mission to scout out terrain in eastern Terraversa, Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock and Major Brickford gather Corlander officers in camp to review gathered intelligence and to delegate preparatory tasks.
  20. As I mentioned to @Khorne on Flickr, the shakos are classic all-black shakos that I painted red and silver (you can see the red starting to flake off on the close one). The red isn't a perfect match for TLG torso red. Since I’ve transitioned most of my redcoats to the newer gold printed shakos I have about 75 extra plain black ones - I’ve tried painting them all sorts of colors (blue, orange, gray, purple, etc) Recently used some of the extra plain black shakos in this goofy MOC. Thanks!
  21. Thanks! Yeah, I really like the shape of the fluting on this one. Tried 3 or 4 other shapes and liked this one with the fez and blank head the best. I also really like that @Ayrlego field piece with the telescope for a barrel, but wanted something more substantial for the last couple of builds (something to put fear in the hearts of the blueys! ) Regarding the limbers, I went with white just because of personal preference. A lot of the replica US Revolutionary War cannons I saw at old forts as a kid had white limbers. I'm sure reddish brown would look good too! As @kurigan pointed out elsewhere, it might add to the design to add some hub caps to the side of the wheels!
  22. The Corlander Army has amassed a large number of field pieces of various size at their Westface Camp. Major Brickford talks with Captain Redding of the Royal Artillery after the artillery unit successfully ran through a speed drill with their 12 pounders. Captain Redding, a veteran of many previous engagements, is confident they are ready to face Oleon should they meet on the battlefield.
  23. Duplo Pirate ships float and LEGOs can attach to the Duplo studs
  24. Thanks @Brickwolf! Cleaned up the image a bit to remove the background
