  1. Thank you much for this YT clip, i`m surprised the shown pump looks very similar to my sample system, i guess i could have searched YT before myself with proper wording, omg... @Mechbuilds, since such a small pump fits anywhere freely i see no dire need for a custom dedicated housing... They don`t even vibrate much, so strapping them hidden inside a construction with few rubberbands should be well sufficient... but well the looks, nothing for purists, i know. I am just worrying about the performance under realistic load, just moving two unloaded pistons is not that impressive, i`ll investigate further on such devices with preferable higher pressure around 1,5 to 2 bar which seems to me a reasonable value worth the buy and testing... Thank you all for your replies so far
  2. Current S*msung A4 series is "cheap" and high quality, people who buy anything else must be mad. Runs basically anything and it`s well upgradeable for next four years. (No Advert intended)
  3. Hi all, I am wondering about if any of you fellow forumers have any experience with using third party 9v dc air compressors with LEGO Pneumatics...? (No advert intended, random sample picture of above mentioned system just to clear things up, the system in question draws around 350-400 milliAmps and generates about 80 Kpa/ 0.8 bar, which i know is on the lower side of performance, but this is why i ask here...) I have made several well (or less so well) working all-LEGO buildt pumps, and as you might guess this alternative would be way more usefull and convenient. I am personally amazed how TLG does not provide by default such a system, it could well live side-by-side with common brick-buildt pumps and i am sure it would be appreciated by Moc builders and AFOL users. We have motors allready, how about mini compressor for convenience and efficiency? Thanks in advance for any comment and/or advice! Any more powerfull suggestion in this size or similar would be very helpfull...
  4. Beautiful! I love this modell, have it still in a box and buildt in red with other parts ... what a great crane you did there, very good footage, thank you for sharing!
  5. Alfredo lives also in my two-Technic-fig collection! The other guy has sort of a red racing overall... At least the true identity of the blue-white dressed guy has now officially being revealed, thank you! Nice detail for technic nuts! (Btw, i wonder if any other technicfigs have become "Canocical" names along the years... )
  6. My jaw literally dropped while watching your video, i just saw a way beyond imaginable masterpiece. Woah! Your crane shows what ABS can perform when a trained engineer gets in touch with excessive amounts of Technic parts I`ve never seen such a sleek and compact supermonster of a crawler, hats off
  7. Hello train-fans I recently joined the forums and my interest are mostly along lego technic and mindstorms, and i have posted in this thread about my experience with the latest NiZn rechargeble AA and AAA batterys used for Lego Powerfunctions. This may be very pleasing info for some of you as they have 1,65 volts per cell continuously ... and some other remarkable features... They are also a bit heavier than common NiMhs and other ZiCo and Alkalines... which may help at tractionissues uphill. But me no trainexpert, just saying... Regards
  8. Just in case you`re looking for a true 1,5 volt AA alternative battery and missed this thread NiZn rechargeable battery, high voltage Its basically the newest and greenest high density storage around now. Worth a look, works great for Lego Users.
  9. Hi Mlluell, I just want to point at the pneumatic harvester and the tracked loader, both are medium sized and both have features which made Technic so popular as it became over the past years... If you really get hooked to this excellent timesink called Lego technic... it`s just great, your imagination keeps growing with experience and available parts. Please don`t buy the large cars first... it`s not just about four-wheeled things finally, they are in fact all the same with more or less in-depth mechanical detail, very repetetive, except the shaping of the outer body. Start reasonable and you will very well know what to get next! And have fun!
  10. Nice clip, i guess you are using 6 NiCads for the 9 volt test... I have a 42039 around somewhere, when i get more time i`ll use this to compare, with IR, SBrick and Buwizz when i have them in a few weeks... I hope i can even out the transmissionratio for a faster vehicle and a bit more torque. 11,1 volts on Buwizz`s ludicrous mode sounds souspiciously like 3 x 18650 Lion batterys (3 x 3,7 volts, with 30 Amps continuous max discharge rate... have to take a look inside when they ship to me...) I was tempted to cobble such a battery pack together myself some time ago... That would also fit to the price of Buwizz...
  11. @teflon, hi there We have come a long way since ten years, recent breakthroughs in NiZn development have solved the self-discharging issue, as mentioned further above the membrane-piercing needle build-up problem has been solved (sinterfoamed cathode anode) and there are basically no disadvantages left with NiZn, only that they can be manufactured exclusiv as AA and AAA shapes until now... quite good for Lego users... (I think about buying shares of said company now...)
  12. @sirslayer Indeed, amazing price, there is a company in california who develops these batterys, and as far as i see your find is allready a small step further in performance... I think this will get a lot attention in the future... I have also added further info on my first post, just in case...
  13. Thank you all for the heartily welcome on this forum!
  14. I think moderate use of motors per IR receiver isn`t any issue with NiZn, but keep in mind they can have initial 1,8 voltage when fully loaded, this drops then to average 1,65 to 1,6 volts during use... SBrick can handle them easely as far as i have observed... Ciao tessiner!
  15. @domleg, Yes NiZn is on the market since a few years, but basically completly unnoticed by the general public. This technology had recently a huge leap forward since the problem with needle build-up has being solved by sinterfoaming the cell structure. I bought the cells provided by Ansmann AG, i hope this will not get handled as unwanted advertising... I have searched the whole forum for NiZn batterys and found not one thread about, so i decided to share my experience here.
  16. Sorry, "no-can-do" at the moment, for various reasons. BTW, there are actually just two or three large well-known companys who provide this type of battery, one in the US, the others in the EU, i am using the type sold in continental europa...
  17. Since i am a new forum user i guess i am not allowed to promote any kind of product, but you will find immediatly a fitting battery by googling "NiZn rechargeable AA battery", i hope this helps so far... I don`t wanna upset any moderators, really... Edit: i have EVEs aswell, but i refrain to use them since i allready got the LiPo packs for them... but i think they work the same...
  18. Hello all, I recently purchased a set of the newest generation rechargeable NickelZinc (NiZn) AA and AAA batterys for use in the Lego Technic Powerfunction sets. They provide serious advantage over NiMH (1,2 volt) and common single use batterys (1,5 volt). NickelZinc (NiZn) AA specs: 1,6 - 1,65 volt (continuous) / 2500mWh / 1500mAh / max. continuous discharge current 4,5 A (3 Cells, 9 A per PF AA Box) / resistance 30mOhm / weight 25 g / operates between -15° and +50° celsius, unaffected by temperature (!) / very low self-discharge rate / fast-loading capable / at least 70% capacity remaining after 300 loading cycles / environmental friendly in production and recycling (Silveroxide-Zinc) / low price compared to NiMH, LiPo, disposable ZiCo, NiCads and the such Only "disadvantage": You need a specific NiZn recharging device, which can only recharge NiZn batterys. I have tested them in various motorized sets with Lego PF battery boxes and they are really worth the buy, 9,6 volts make a difference. For instance i have a heavy tracked custom vehicle (around 2.5 kg) with one L-motor on each track (slighty downgeared plus wormgear to reduce backslash) and it now operates absolutly smooth and continuously with the 9,6 volts provided by the NiZn rechargeables, and it also gained noteable speed against NiMH AA rechargeables (7,2 volt). I can`t notice any track/wheel related "stepping", and it climbs obstacles like never before. In theory (regarding the specs of BuWizz...), a common Lego PF AA battery pack with these NiZn`s has a constant max output of at least 9,6 volts and max current of 9 A (!), which might be way more power you will ever need, unless you put some RC motors (three or more RC motors) to it and throttle up all the way. Be aware that the IR Receivers cut out (and probably damage) long before passing through this current, while SBricks might handle much better. Buwizz can put out 8,3 volts in fast mode, with around 4 Amps (per channel) continuous... oh-oh. In order not to promote investigate further yourself, there are just a few products available now, at least in the EU. Link to the reviewed product at "Conrad" , notice below the technical datasheet available as pdf I hope this was usefull information for one or another forum user!
  19. Hello all, i am "BrickDabbler" from Switzerland (AFOL ...), after spending about 20 years in my "dark ages" i rediscovered Lego by Mindstorms EVE3 some years ago. Since then i got my hands on around large 15 Technic and EVE3 sets plus alot of additional loose technic parts from BL and i followed this amazing and excellent forum as a guest during the past years. My main interests regarding building with Lego are motorization (PF), battery technology in general and pneumatics, scale modelling of RL constructrion/ mining machinery and as mentioned above, custom programming with EVE3 bricks... I also use two SBricks at the moment, and i have recently ordered two Buwizz`s, which are delivering by the end of this month (Yes i like Dune Buggys and Baja Trucks too...) Architecture and Creator series are also great, but i simply don`t have that much free time for more Lego... I am really glad to have finally joined this forum!
