[TC20] 6949 Robo-Guardian
Akassin replied to Akassin's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you. Glad you like it. New progress. Hands ready Raising the shoulder and bending the elbow will be using the rotating handles. Turning the end of the hand and opening the claws is done manually. I don't have a magnet for the second hand, so the hands are the same for now. If time remains, maybe I will come up with another device (drill or weapon) Sorry for the light from the lamp in the photo -

Thank you for your feedback. It is very breathtaking. New progress. I got close to the arms of the robot The original set has a panel in the center of the body, on which electronic elements are printed. For this scale, I have nothing of the kind. So for now, I decided to replace this part with a radiator grill. Maybe then I'll come up with something to replace -

This question is for Lego designers. In my version and in the original set, they are only for decoration. -

Unfortunately, I haven’t been involved in the competition for over a month. I will try to do it faster now. The bottom of the robot is ready. The suspension rises to a height of 2 students. The upper wheels rise together with the lower ones. The original model has very small arms at the bottom for loading. Because the new scale allows - I made them longer and more detailed -

Maybe. But I will not add tracks. For the last 3 weeks I have not had time to do construction. But I almost finished the bottom part. I'll post progress soon -
As soon as the rules of the new competition were announced, I immediately decided which set I would choose. As a child, I had small sets 6835 and 3013 from the Spyrius Lego Space series. But of course I dreamed of a giant robot 6949. But now the competition begins and ... dreams come true :) I started by calculating the scale. I chose it using the size of the wheels, which I made from track links. The scale of the new model has become 1x1,7 (I think that 1x1,7 is not too big a difference in scale). The scale also had to be increased in order to be able to implement hand control functions and to be able to repeat design elements with parts of Lego technic. Future functions (I plan to place all controls on the back): the original model has only control of hands (of course, this function will be) I also want to add functions that the original model does not have (I believe they will significantly improve its playability) - body rotation - body tilt - head tilt the suspension will also be added (after all, this is a Lego technic). And without a suspension, this model will stagger a lot, even on the smallest bump. Now I started by building a "skeleton" of the future robot to determine its proportions. After that, I will build each of its parts in detail.

Of all the sets of the second half of the year, I was looking forward to Zetros the most. But seeing this, given the price of 300 euros, I am greatly disappointed. It will probably be 3 engines and at best the functions will be gear shifting or differential locks. But I take a calculator in my hands and count: for this money I can buy 2 sets of 42109, having received 2 smart blocks and 4 motors. With the remaining money, you can buy any unique parts (including new wheels) and still get more. I don’t know yet what this set has to offer for me to change my mind.

To check the scale, measure the length of the black strip at the bottom of the sheet - its length should be 175 mm -

If you need a sheet of stickers, I will scan it today or tomorrow, because I did not plan to apply them to the model yet. -

fantastic result! such an exact copy of the form and such a recognizable design, especially considering the small scale. Cool!- 52 replies

[TC17] WIP Scavenger
Akassin replied to Akassin's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
getting closer to the finish It remains to finish the cab and some design elements The crane was completely changed because it looked too high-tech for the theme of the competition. Along with this, the type of work of the claw was changed. Now it sinks on the cable -

This is probably the last progress before the final version. From the main left to finish the gearbox and add exterior decor. A large chopper is made in the back. Ballist shapes slightly changed and shooter seats added -

Thanks. The most difficult technical stage remained ahead, because I want eight functions to work from one motor. After that I will proceed to the MadMax design. But this will be done at the expense of form, not color. Because I don’t have brown and sand details. Red-black color scheme will remain -

Built weapons for my transport. These are ballista. They reload and shoot manually The right black handle serves as a reload of weapons (it compresses the spring). At the end of reloading, the spring is automatically locked. For the shot, use the left gray handle. The spear flies about one meter On the left - in a charged state and ready to shoot -

Some progress Built a crane boom with a grip. The location and mounting of the crane is temporary. In the future it will be on the turntable. The boom will rise by the LA actuator. Bending and opening of the gripper using pneumatics. Temporarily removed the decor of the Mad Max style, because it interferes with further construction. The whole style will be added at the end.
