Generic Contest Discussion
Akassin replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I would prefer a harder competition. But the topic of the contest is more important. Can you give some hints among what we choose? -
I will say: this is how Model A should look like for this set. Because this grader perfectly repeats the design of the original. But the official model is not

@Jim, I do not understand why this project does not correspond to the topic of the competition? As Milan wrote, there is no problem with increasing the scale, if it is a minimal need to rebuild the set with technic parts. Here the scale is not increased by 10 times for entertainment. - A studded original set? - there is. - Converted to non-studded? - there is. And I think this is definitely the most creative solution of all the works of the competition. Are you sure that we need a contest in which a participant builds a set according to the original instructions and only replaces technical bricks with beams? It would be very boring.

Excellent appearance! The use of a white arch is an ingenious solution. I hope you have time

I vote for the 3rd option Looks better than the original. Although I prefer using panels when creating modern versions of old sets, your version is 100% similar to the original. Good job! -

Thanks :) I don't have the original set (it was just my childhood dream) in the 90s, so I found a photo on the Internet and tried to repeat the angle of photography. Well, a little Photoshop to create a similar style -

I'm glad you liked it all is ready -
Excellent result. You are one of the few who have not just replaced technical bricks with beams, but really made a modern version of the set, while maintaining its recognition by 100%. At first, I thought that this set would look good only with its original wheels. But now I'm looking at your version with these new tires and white wheels and I'm ready to change my mind

Good progress! You have perfectly copied the design of the original model. I am also very pleased that you have chosen a classic system set, because there are very few of them in this competition. -

Thank you for your feedback! I think I'm done. Next weekend I'll take photos with good lighting. -
I did not write that I have many years of experience in creating Lego models. I value this toy as a consumer. I'm not going to buy a RC model to put on a shelf and watch. I want to play with this. Now I see that this model is more suitable for demonstrating the principles of the chassis of a car than for a fun game. And I see no limits for LEGO to make a trial truck with the same capabilities as these MOCs. They do not violate any of the rules and principles that Lego uses (previously, LEGO did not have locked differentials, but not now). For example, I know that we will never see an official Liebherr LTM 1750 set because the plastic is not strong enough to create its boom (yes, AFOLs do it, but it does not meet the LEGO requirements).

[MOC] Kettenkrad
Akassin replied to Samolot's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
A genius! Such a clean appearance with such a complex mechanism inside. Cool! -
Why? If lego made, for example, a concrete mixer and compared it with these trucks , it would be stupid. But lego made a trial truck. So they believe that this configuration is the most effective for off-road driving. I'm increasingly determined to give up this set, because if the only thing it can do is climb on the ironing board, it's not for me.

I really like your design (more than the original). Yes, it is slightly different in the tilt of the hood, but it is still recognizable
-
I'm really surprised that there are so few classic system sets in the competition. When the contest was just announced, I thought that it would be a competition of construction / fire / police cars from lego city against spaceships and underwater bathyscaphes. Now I feel a little awkward and lonely with my robot among the classic technic sets. I hope I understood the task of the contest correctly

Time for updates. The body is almost ready. Only the part at the back remained open, where the head rotation control wheel will be. As a result, I abandoned some of the functions that were originally planned: there will be no tilt of the body and head, because this would require a lot of difference in appearance from the original model. So only suspension and body rotation are added. I also changed the central part of the body, where the original model has a panel with electronics print. I tried to repeat it with small plates. I really need your opinion, which of the options is better. It remains to build a head.
