The lego store typically gets exclusives at the same time as their retail partners. It’s just other third party retailers, like Walmart or independent toy stores, that have to wait for the sets until the exclusivity period is over.

Do my eyes deceive me or is that a lime green book I see on the shelf in the Ravenclaw dorms?

So excited to wake up a find the set pictures out! Room of Requirement is a lovely little set. I really like the wall turning into a door feature and the educational decrees you can knock off the wall. The patronuses might have leaked ages ago but it’s still fun to finally see them in context. The Forbidden Forest is great. Minifigures are awesome, Grawp is a tad blocky (but that’s to be expected), and as someone who grew up with the old Harry Potter lego sets where they stuck secret compartments anywhere they could fit I’m really feeling some nostalgia for that hidey hole in the tree. Privet Drive is an amazing update. I’ve still got my old yellow minifig version from back in 2002 and this blows it out of the water. Dursley’s look great and the play features look fun. Love how they did the cupboard under the stairs. The Astronomy Tower Is everything I could have hoped for. I can’t wait to get my hands on it to properly examine all the little details. Definitely a fitting extension to our Hogwarts castle. I wasn’t sure how the new Burrow would be able to really improve upon the old one, but they actually managed it! I’ll agree with others that the choices they made for Molly are disappointing, but at least Tonks looks decent, and the number of details is amazing. The only thing I’m really bummed about is that they just threw the new/old brown owl from Privet Drive in instead of giving us a grey version for Errol. I can’t believe none of our leaks ever said anything about the buildable Hedwig being clockwork! I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I’m delighted and will definitely be picking this one up with the rest of the sets. With all these amazing sets plus the CMF, D2C, and rumors of another retailer exclusive my wallet might never forgive me, but I’m certainly excited.

I noticed that too. The Weasley twins are the only relevant connection to fireworks I can think of, and it’s not exactly a normal phrase to use otherwise. Maybe Diagon Alley will be revealed a lot sooner than we think?

I think one of the biggest problems when wishlisting Harry Potter characters we’d like to see lego make is that there are so many beloved characters whose roles were cut in the movies, sometimes entirely. And every character is special when it comes to wanting an official version of them. We as AFOLs might be able to bricklink any extra parts we want to throw together custom minifigures, but the same cannot be said for Lego’s target audience of children, who are still out there discovering the books and falling in love with/seeing themselves in characters like Lee and Angelina and Katie and all the other minor characters that you complain would just be more uniform torsos.
-
It could even refer to something smaller like minifigures. I know we’ve discussed the possibility of Ginny being in the AT despite not being in the toy fair reports like how Cedric turned up in the Clocktower last year. And as I wrote this people floated the ideas of Cormac McLaggen and Snape as well. (I personally think Snape is the most likely since he is the Half Blood Prince and it’s not like he needs any new parts so it would be pretty easy for lego to make a last minute decision to include him).

Harry has a lot of outfits that look very similar. I think the costume department did it on purpose honestly. After all, this is a teenage boy whose given nothing to wear except his much bigger cousin’s cast offs - he’s probably got a limited number of things that actually look good and fit.
-
That’s basically how I feel about it. When you read the script all you can notice is the gaping plot holes and how most of the characters from the books feel distinctly out of character, but when you actually see the play you can get swept up in the spectacle and the enthusiasm of the actors to the point you can overlook the writings shortcomings. That being said, the one problem with marketing CC merchandise is that the play itself isn’t really accessible to the majority of fans, so it’s designs and characters don’t illicit the same recognition as their movie counterparts. I think you’re right in saying the only way we’d get sets would be if a movie adaptation or official recording of the play was ever made available.

The buildable Hedwig. Specifically the eyes. The images of buildable Yoda haunt me and if Hedwig turns out as creepy as that I will just be bricklinking the exclusive figure.

I’m otter-ly convinced it’s the puns

Just don’t get too hopeful. The original image definitely wasn’t done by the Harry Potter graphic designers, and the fact that the tile itself isn’t as accurate to the original image as we’d expect for lego’s current quality in the theme.
-
So the Jurassic World sets have started leaking on Instagram, fingers crossed that’s a sign we’ll get more licensed themes soon. In more relevant news, a new printed tile just leaked that’s definitely a Ministry Of Magic issued poster but hard to tell if it’s a leak or custom since it’s not a well known image. Edit: Looks like I got ninja’d Edit 2: I’m looking it up and it looks like the image above @Guyon2002 posted which the tile is loosely based off of isn’t even an official Harry Potter image?

Instagram is actually 13+, which is why all these accounts going around harassing people with foul language pisses me off so much. Plenty of legitimate leakers (or reposters) tag their stuff with more general lego hashtags as well as #legoleaks so it’s not unlikely that there are kids out there who follow the stuff getting posted there. The rampant bullying and name calling going on in there could encourage those kids to emulate that kind of behavior or just scare them out of the community all together and that’s just awful.
-
Nice to know I’m not the only on reporting the crybaby bullies. Hopefully with multiple people reporting it Instagram they’ll actually feel compelled to take action against the accounts calling others obscene names on a hashtag associated with a children’s toy. I actually really like the look of DOTS too. I hadn’t bought any sets yet because the pencil pot and photo holders were things I knew I’d never use, but the new picture frames and small jewelry box that just leaked...

Guys, I hate to take the wind out of anyone’s sails but I don’t think we’re going to get a Chamber of Secrets featuring memory!Tom Riddle in the same year we get him as a book exclusive. Maybe a year or more after (we know lego’s done it before), but if the designers knew he was coming out in a set this year they would have chosen a different exclusive. And since the only reason people were even considering the possibility was kingnono’s ‘another Tom’ hint... (honestly, I’m kinda shocked we’re seeing the Chamber of Secrets speculation rearing its head again after a year instead of falling back to the much more recent Ministry Battle speculation)
-
True, but kingnono doesn’t categorically state that we’ll get the answer when the sets are released. This could just be him knowing we’re all going stir crazy and giving us something to chew on. Besides, unless there’s a retailer exclusive that lego’s kept so tight a lid on that we didn’t even know about the set number, then there’s not really anything left for him to leak new information about except the D2C and CMF, is there?
-
So that’s why her first trip to get school supplies was never shown in the books or movies In all seriousness though, I think the “ANOTHER TOM THIS YEAR” answer is probably the correct one, and I hope it’s referring to Tom the barkeeper. It would make sense as he’s literally another Tom (not just a different version of a Tom we already have) and I know there are plenty of us who would love a Leaky Cauldron in the D2C.

Super stoked for a Hogsmeade gwp! It will be interesting to see which buildings they decide to include. We only really see Honeydukes, the Three Broomsticks, the Shrieking Shack, and the Hog’s Head in the movies, but the we’ve also got a canon design for Zonko’s from other sources, and I can definitely see the Shrieking Shack being left off this year’s gwp like Borgin & Burke’s wasn’t included in the 2018 one. The exclusive minifigure will almost certainly be Madam Rosmerta or Aberforth Dumbledore.
-
Actually, Dobby’s first appearance and Harry’s escape from Privet Drive happen several days or even weeks apart. It’s not as explicitly stated in the movie as the books, but logic does dictate that the locks and window bars couldn’t have been fitted on the same day the Dursley’s had their dinner guests.
-
So far we’ve gotten physical leaks that confirm the five sets reported at Toy Fair and the Burrow, as well as the CMF. There’ve been no physical leaks of the D2C, but that’s to be expected since it’s coming months later. So far all reliable leakers have reported that the Harry Potter lineup for this year will be those six sets we already have leaks confirming, the CMF, and the D2C. So far no reliable leakers have stayed there will be a Ministry Battle.

The sticker sheet has me surprisingly stoked at the prospect of the Number Four set, which I wasn’t expecting to be. I’m particularly excited by the letters in the door - could we possibly be getting more owls that Hedwig in this set to make it cover SS and CoS? It kind of got buried under the leaks of Ron, Lavender and the polybag, but someone posted a leak of ‘new Harry Potter owls’ which I suspect mostly got passed over because it was mostly the new flying Hedwig and the winking owl from the recent City set. However, it also shows a bunch of dark brown owls that are pretty much identical to the 2010-11 ones. Given that the current Hedwig is nearly identical to her counterpart from that time do you think it’s possible that lego has decided to also resurrect the brown owl (and hopefully the dark grey one for Errol) or is somebody just trying to pass off the old owls as leaks?

I think lots of us really want a Harry Potter minifigure pack, but more people want something along the lines of generic students with uniforms from each house or Quidditch players as opposed to a Weasley collection, and given how Harry Potter’s quality for price points compares to Disney subsidiaries I think there’s a decent chance that a Harry Potter minifigure pack could have 4 figs like the Ninjago ones.

I really hope he’s legit now. This might be our only way to get OotP Sirius for a while.
-
I’m hoping so as well, I think her OotP and HBP looks are more than different enough to warrant getting them both. Plus, if they give us OotP Tonks then we’ll have all the characters we need for that movie’s escape from Privet Drive. (And whole her HBP design is good, I’m far too enamored with the thought of pink and purple hairpieces to not wish for OotP Tonks as well).

So a final clear confirmation that we’re getting a Slug Club Christmas Party. Interesting that they’re doing 2 years in a row with the biggest set of the wave being Christmas themed. Shame that we’ve got more robes lacking printed legs, but at least the current leaks and minifigure lists suggest we won’t see nearly as much of that as last year. Umbridge and Hermione look great. Really like the new alternate face for Umbridge, it’s definitely giving me ideas for how I’m going to end up displaying the set .
