Yeah, it’s really fun to see some of the more obscure details immortalized into Lego, like the alternate versions of the Mirror of Erised or the Mermaid stained glass from the Prefects’ Bathroom. Which makes me think - could we see the birdcage and songbirds from the HBP movie in the Astronomy Tower set? The nesting circular cages would be hard to pull off at minifigure scale but it seems like exactly the sort of little detail that Lego has been trying to put into this theme’s sets.

Yeah, with so many fan depictions of what centaurs could look like it will be interesting to see if Lego can do the concept justice. I’m also looking forward to getting Hermione’s otter patronus. The only thing I’m really disappointed about from what we currently know of this year’s sets is the distinct lack of Order members, which is why I’m really hoping that the bigger August set is a OotP set that includes Tonks and Kingsley.

Can you please just... recognize that many of the people who express similar sentiments to you do so just to cover up their racism, accept that that fact makes people uncomfortable with how vehement you’re being about it, and drop the subject so we can go back to discussing Lego?
-
The entire reason I brought up the fact that the race discussion was making me uncomfortable was because I didn’t think it had any place here.
-
No offense, but would you please stop complaining about how they’ve cast black actresses to play Hermione. JKR has supported the decision - stating that she never specified Hermione’s race in the books, the movies have already played fast and loose with some of the character appearances from the books, and ultimately the play and movies are different cannons that aren’t obliged to conform to each other’s visual appearances. With so many other things to dislike about the production, the fact that you’re so hung up on it is coming off as uncomfortably racist.

I wholeheartedly agree on Cursed Child. The script is cringeworthy and I couldn’t read past the scene where the Trolley Lady turns into a liquid metal terminator, but when I actually got a chance to see it on stage I found it easy to ignore the ridiculousness of the plot and get swept up in the spectacle of it all. The costume designs would be fun to see in minifigure form but the play just doesn’t have the reach to be as recognized as the movies. Plus the whole question of licensing. In contrast, FB has plenty of characters that are universally recognized, including several that tie into the original Harry Potter story. Plus, there’s a specific movie release that they want to tie the CMF to.

Actually if you look at Newts hair from the movies the tan Soldier 76 hairpiece used for the Green Brick Suit Guy is a better fit then the spiky Sleepyhead hair being used for Newt now. Newt’s hair is messy, but it’s a little longer and wavier with his bangs brushed to the right.

I’m equally excited at the prospect of more FB sets. I realize that the 2018 sets weren’t quite as popular as their Harry Potter counterparts, but they were still some very well designed sets and gave us an amazing amount of new creature parts and recolors. I think the strategy they used in 2018 of one bigger set from the previous movie and one small set from a trailer scene of the upcoming release served them well - letting them hype the franchise and its new installment without sacrificing the screen accuracy that’s been defining the Wizarding World theme this time around. Hopefully that means next year we’ll see a bigger CoG set - perhaps with a brick built Zouwu and maybe some Matagots? More creatures are always appreciated. And something mentioned over on the CMF series 20 thread is that the Green Brick Suit Guy’s hairpiece (a recolor of a fairly rare part) would be a perfect fit for Newt. I wonder if Lego is planning to switch to using it for him in the next FB wave.

So, two good things about the CMF getting pushed back: A) it might still have 22 characters since the lower 16 number was for this fall’s series, which we now know isn’t Wizarding World B) it’s making me take those rumors of a $100 set in August more seriously. If Lego wanted to release certain characters (i.e. Order of the Phoenix members) this year and were planning on some of them coming in the CMF to compliment a set, then maybe when the CMF got pushed back they decided to beef up the set so they could include those characters originally meant for the CMF in it. My money’s on it being Grimmauld Place or the MoM.

Even if we don’t get a CMF this year there’s still an exclusive minifigure coming with a book this summer. Lockhart is one of the possibilities being tossed around for that, since he’s got plenty of different outfits to choose from.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion

A new close up shot of the Viking has shown up and the helmet and beard are definitely separate pieces. -
Now that you mention it the mold itself isn’t to far off the more rounded standards of modern minifigure animals. The only reason I wouldn’t use one of them in a minifigure display now is because of the colors and the goofy eyes, and it’s easy enough to print different eyes on there. For that matter, I thought the mold was way to small to be in scale for a minidoll, but for a minifigure - well, it’s still too small to be a llama, but it’s about the right size for an alpaca (which the curly coat is more accurate to anyway).

That’s what I was thinking! Definitely looks like the NASA ‘meatball’ logo to me, even without seeing it in focus yet. I’ll definitely have to grab her. -

The hair looks like Flitwick’s hair recolored black. It is a good fit though. -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion

So with the hints we have so far: - Has Sombrero Has short legs It’s not - long legs the already leaked Piñata Boy - Has the DC series piece for posing the fig Has combo hair/headgear It’s not - hystorical Jetpack Pilot - Is a food costume girl I said it’s a food. It’s not a fruit. It’s not - expectable Maybe a carrot girl? Looks like a minifigure from series 15 Has a weapon It’s not - new molds my guess is she’s going to be a Lady Knight (a la Jean d’Arc) or a Valkyrie Is a female counterpart for a figure from S12 Can go along with a character from series 8 and 1 from series 16 It’s not - male I agree with the common guess that this is a Lady Swashbuckler/Pirate, which is frankly overdue. Wouldn’t be surprised if it included a new hat/hair combo as well so they could slip it into the Pirates’ Bay Ideas set coming out soon. - Has an exciting printed torso with a classic LEGO set on it Has some normal LEGO pieces that come with him/her It’s not - pirate-related has to be some sort of meta Lego fan - It’s an animal costumed girl Is an animal suit girl/guy. You know. This animal has never been released before in LEGO pieces. It’s not - short legs Could be just about anything - sheep? otter? platypus? The odds of guessing right are low. - Can go along with a figure from series 4 and one from series 7 Has a beard It’s not - city-related Some sort of Viking, which might make a Lady Knight more likely than a Valkyrie for 4. - You can’t see the face Is prominently red It’s not - re-hash I’m guessing this is another costume but I couldn’t guess what - Is a rehash from series 2 with a new accessory Is prominently white It’s not - castle- related a Martial Arts Student - not sure what the new accessory will be though - Female/Sport Has both hands occupied It’s not - fantasy/sci-fi would jump-rope count as a sport in this case? - Has footwear parts You can’t see his/her hair It’s not - space-related I think we’re all pretty sure this is a Marine Biologist diving with a Sea Turtle at this point. Definitely a must have for me. - It’s basically a rehash Is prominently green It’s not - original a garbage person maybe, I seem to recall seeing a garbage truck in City a while back. - Has a face like he’s singing Is a contemporary figure It’s not - female If it’s only like he’s singing and not actually singing then I have a sneaking suspicion it’s just another excuse to reuse the megaphone piece - Female counterpart for a guy from series 6. Oh yeah I didn't tell you that. His/her accessory is a new mold It’s not - west-related Presumably either a female version of the Highland Battler or Sleepyhead, either one would probably need a new hair piece - Has a printed tile Is showing his tongue in his facial expression It’s not - counterpart my brain is stuck on that picture of Albert Einstein with his tongue stuck out, but I’m not sure how likely that is -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion

Actually, in the Harry Potter movies the centaurs are solid colors - no skin/fur dichotomy on the human/horse halves like you see in classical centaurs. Should make for some interesting torsos, but it also means there likely won’t be any printing on the legs to discourage anyone who wants to from throwing together their own yellow skinned version. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
Accio Lego replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
A minifigure version of the sea turtle from last year’s Friends sets is sounding more and more likely - in which case it might be the one fig in this series that’s a must have for me. The even distribution between male and female characters is nice to hear too. I think I can guess what at least one of those new gender swaps will be. I’m happy at the implication there will be more than one historical figure, those are usually some of my favorites (along with the fantasy ones but apparently no luck with those this time around). For those disappointed at the lack of centaur in series 20, there is still a chance that we’ll get one in Wizarding World Series 2. There are several instances of Lego using the mold budget in series 1 to make parts that they also needed for full sets after all, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they put a centaur in the CMF to keep down the budget on the $30 set that’s apparently going to have two. In any case, they should be pretty easy to get ahold of. -
I think we’re all just skeptical that Lego will muddy the wave even more by putting a set from a fourth different movie in it. After all, 2018 had 3 movies - SS/PS, CoS and a hint of PoA, 2019 had just 2 movies - PoA and GoF, and so far we’ve got 3 movies confirmed for 2020 - OotP, HBP and a single backtrack to CoS. Number 4 Privet Drive also has the benefit of featuring in OotP, and I suspect the CMF will give us the last notable characters we need to finish the scene with the advance guard escorting Harry from his relatives’ house at the beginning of that movie. So not only do I not think it likely we’ll get another backtrack this year but I doubt it would be as niche as the Shrieking Shack (there’s also little incentive for Lego to make a big set like that with no prospective exclusive minifigures - we aren’t going to get Padfoot or a werewolf in the Shack again with Lego’s current devotion to screen accuracy, so I expect them to wait to revisit that particular location again until the current run of PoA sets are ready to retire). If you want Lupin’s werewolf form and Padfoot I think we’ve got a much better chance of seeing them in this year’s CMF.
-
I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t, and if they’re trying to compete with the current unofficial fan versions they really have to.

Like, a normal normal summer wave that could turn up any time over the summer, or is the ‘Exploration’ City wave this summer going to be marine themed (like how last year was mission to Mars, before that arctic, before that jungle, etc.) Because the Exploration wave usually comes out in June I think.

Yeah, there’s a difference between disagreeing on what’s the most likely set Lego could make, and wish-listing or absurdity to practically the point of trolling. A discussion on Grimmauld Place v. Weasleys Wizarding Wheezes is a potentially enjoyable debate - spending several pages explaining to someone why Lego wouldn’t consider their niche dream set profitable because they keep bringing it up despite there being other subjects to potentially discuss is just a bit exhausting, and distracts from the actual news. Fingers crossed that these marketing tests are going well. The choice of sets is interesting. In addition to the Hogwarts D2C there’s also two Creator Expert sets - a modular town building and one of the cars, the Lego Ideas treehouse and a Friends set of all things. If I had to hazard a guess I’d say they were trying to get not just an idea of whether a light function line would work but also which themes it would sell the best in — i.e. Hogwarts Castle could be representative of lisenced IPs and Architecture, the Creator Expert car is similar enough to the technic vehicles line, combining the info from the modular building and the Friends set will probably give them an idea how the light mods would sell for City, etc.

I can get that. In the current absence of leaks a lot of us jump on speculation discussion with the same amount of gusto we would for leaks or set analysis, which could definitely be intimidating. The thing to remember is not to take things personally and if you don’t want to get into a multi page discussion about the merits of your theories then you don’t have to respond to anyone who wants to criticize them (it takes two to tango after all). Some people enjoy getting into those kind of debates, but nobody’s going to judge you if you want to Say your piece and then leave things where they are and let the thread move on to something else.
-
This is a discussion, not gatekeeping. Nobody who’s speculating is calling each other stupid or suggesting they aren’t real fans because of their opinions (there was some troll mouthing off a few pages back, but they’ve disappeared back into whatever hole they came out of). We’re just a bunch of people speculating and giving our opinions while we twiddle our thumbs waiting for the next set of leaks - there’s no indication of any hurt feelings and no fight that you need to break up.

Except this isn’t the early 2000s, where Lego was designing sets before the movies released and had little to no idea what anything looked like and just made whatever they felt looked cool. Sure it made for some fun hidden compartments, but the current run of the theme is much more strictly adhering to screen accuracy, which means if something only appears once any set based off that location would have to be based off that scene. Not to mention I think you’re vastly underestimating how big a building would need to be to accommodate just one of those Lego boats with a minifigure sized walkway to the side - it would be giving our current Hagrid’s Hut a run for its money - not exactly a negligible little side build. Add on the fact that most fans (and more importantly the target demographic of children) have a laundry list of other Harry Potter sets that they’d rather see made into reality and, well, I wouldn’t hold my breath on the boathouse.
