  1. The receding hairline would certainly work better than the hairpiece they used in 2010.
  2. I think the advent calendar or a polybag is really the best place for a Dumbledore’s lectern build. After all, Great Hall sets usually have enough trouble managing to fit in the required tables without having to worry about leaving room for a podium that would just get in the way of kids trying to play. And the new Hedwig just looks stunning! (The image has officially crossed into the #legoleaks posts by the way, you no longer have to search for it in stories.) I’ll admit there’s better things I want out of the CMF than another minor character with owl like Cho from series one, but I really just want this new mold in all the colors. (I also want the regular owl mold in more colors, but that’s old news). Fingers crossed that either Privet Drive or Diagon Alley will give us a bunch of owls in different colors (and if we get the Burrow that means we get Errol again right?).
  3. Draco actually does crash the Christmas party, wearing his black suit, so if most of the characters are from that scene the only ones whose outfits are up for debate are Ron and Lavender.
  4. Obviously we can’t say for certain yet, but given Lego’s commitment to screen accuracy we can make some guesses to what versions will be in the sets. For instance, in the Forbidden Forest scene with Grawp and the centaurs Umbridge wears a solid fuchsia dress, which is a far cry from the pink cardigan and pink plaid skirt from the bricktober pack. Slughorn is harder to say for certain, since we don’t know categorically that the Astronomy Tower encompasses a single scene, and we can’t say for certain that the Luna torso in her dress from Slughorn’s party isn’t from, say, an advent calendar. However, if the Astronomy Tower does include the Christmas party then Slughorn’s outfit from that scene has a few differences from the bricktober one (like tassels and a fancier waistcoat). Duel molded and printed legs like the Moody and Newt figs in the CMF would also be an improvement that set it apart, but who knows if we’ll get that lucky.
  5. It bears mentioning that all this info is based off of previews seen behind the curtain at Toy Fair, which historically have been incomplete builds, not always easy to fully identify and ultimately subject to changes. For instance, last year we didn’t hear about Cedric being in the Clocktower set until long after the rest of the minifigure lineup leaked, and a few otherwise reliable leakers reported a dog in the Hagrid’s Hut set, which we can only assume was edited out before the final product. I’m not saying this to discourage anyone, but I wouldn’t take the leaks as be all end all set descriptions until we get the official photos from Lego (I’m particularly worried about those who are setting their hopes on a Ravenclaw common room, which could so easily be mixed up with an astronomy classroom).
  6. I’m the exact opposite. I’d rather Lucius show up in a set and not take a spot in the CMF that could go to a character that actually needs it. Lucius appeared about half a dozen times in sets from 2002-2011, which means there isn’t the ‘won’t fit into sets’ factor of Trelawney or the Bellatrix and Luna variants of series 2. Those appearances also prove that he really doesn’t need the extra cmf level printing and dual molding like Moody or the house robes. A cape doesn’t require cmf budget (there are 2 themes worth of superheroes to attest to that) and I’m not sure how useful a new cane mold would be, since there’s no way it could be made to conceal his wand, and frankly I haven’t found the lack of pimp cane to be detrimental to the previous versions. Ultimately, all Lucius needs is regular printing and a recolor of the Dumbledore hairpiece, so I’d rather the remaining cmf slots go to characters that do need the budget and platform, like OotP Tonks, Msdam Pomfrey, Werewolf Lupin or even Kreacher.
  7. In addition to the hammerhead shark and new Friends style sloth has leaked
  8. Well that’s very exciting then If I recall correctly the 2011 Diagon Alley actually retailed for 120 USD, so that’s an even bigger price increase. Honestly, I’ll be happy so long as we finally get a Weasleys’ Wizarding Wheezes, but an updated Quality Quidditch Supplies after 18 years would be pretty cool, and my wildest dreams would include the Magical Menagerie or Eylop’s Owl Emporium.
  9. From what we’ve heard he’s going to be constructed like Giant Man from Marvel and Ares from DC. Meaning he’ll look like a giant minifigure, which has a good chance of turning out fine since Lego has done this before and are skirting around most of the more organic forms that usually act as a stumbling block for brick built creatures. Is this guy a reliable leaker?
  10. The characters in the RoR set likely won’t have skirts at all - printed or not. Cho only has a skirt in the CMF because the designers presumably decided she looked too plain for a CMF without something extra. But Harry Potter Lego has always depicted students in sets with their uniform sweater torsos and plain legs - the printed robes and fabric skirt in the CMF are more deluxe versions that are meant the make the CMF figures feel exclusive.
  11. Not sure what your experience was like as a kid but I pretty much always saw the new sets first in a catalog before I ever saw them on shelves. We get few hard copies of the catalog these days but I still know I’m going to see set photos on Lego’s social media pages months before they’re on shelves.
  12. 6 or 7 actually. We got 4 in cmf series 1, 1 in last year’s advent calendar, this leaked Harry with blue gloves and the leaked Neville from cmf series 2.
  13. I didn’t mean ‘distinguish’ in the sense of how easy it is to tell apart from the other robed torsos. I was using the term in the sense of having some feature that would make it more desirable than its counterparts. The gloves and rear facing scarf make this torso different from previous ones, but we’ve gotten so many gryffindor robes at this point that it’s not garnering as much attention as say, the same thing for a different house.
  14. This seems like an unnecessarily confrontational response to someone pointing out that Lego isn’t going to use the baby body for non-infant characters (Dobby needs to be able to hold regular sized minifigure accessories after all). If you would actually go and look at the scene in question you’d see what I was talking about. No idea what you mean by ‘only one Lupin’ - he does change his outfit and occasionally bushes his hair back throughout the movies, and the minifigure we have is based off of his appearance on the a Hogwarts Express, not the boggart scene.
  15. I think the Great Hall Dumbledore still has his merits. The fact that his beard and hair are grey and not white makes his appearance ’flow’ a little more naturally into the Harris Dumbledore, and the hair without a hat is much more useful in the long run than either of the cmf pieces. And as it’s been stated before, both he and McGonagall had printed legs in that set for playability reasons, which leaves him as the most poseable Dumbledore as well (I feel it’s safe to assume the cmf series 2 version will have another skirt piece). So he still has his purpose.
  16. So we’re finally getting physical leaks and it’s looking good! - Centaur legs and torso look amazing! All I ever hoped for from them really (I never really expected moving legs). The proportions all look perfect. - The new Harry torso is okay. Very accurate to the movie but not much else to distinguish it - which admittedly will make skipping out on it less of a blow to those who don’t want the buildable Hedwig. (Personally, I’m holding out on making a decision on that until I see the actual set - if it’s buildable Yoda levels of creepy I’m not touching it.) - Dobby is... nearly identical to the cmf version. I can definitely understand those who think of it as a wasted slot (I really wanted the rumor of the Weasley twins to be right), but at least we got Riddle’s diary with Dobby in the CMF so it wasn’t a total waste? I still would have preferred any repeat of Dobby to be the DH version who at least wears little red shoes.
  17. Not really, since neither’s hair is really depicting the style it’s in in the scene they share. Lupin’s hair is brushed back in the boggart scene, although he usually lets it fall forward over his face, hence lego’s choice to use the spooky boy hairpiece. The choice to use it for Neville is almost certainly intended to reflect his OotP/HBP appearance despite the cmf fig having the Monster Book. I imagine it’s the same mode of thinking behind Bellatrix having her more iconic partial updo instead of the frizzy mess that would canonically go with her prison robes - that’s the hairstyle Lego will be using for other versions of this character and they want consistency for them. (Keep in mind the only characters to get hairstyle changes to match the movies so far are the trio and Dumbledore, and the latter’s has been to denote the change in actors.) Ironically, both characters part their hair opposite of the way the Spooky Boy hair does. But despite than that both are recognizable, which is lego’s main concern.
  18. They use the same spooky boy hair mold but I’m pretty sure Lupin uses it in medium brown while Neville looks like he will have it in dark brown.
  19. DH1 sets are definitely something to look forward to after never getting any the first time around. We also only got one (admittedly large) OotP set last time, in which Umbridge’s office was the only real OotP thing about it. Compare that to this year, where we’re getting at least two OotP sets featuring Umbridge, centaurs, Grawp, Luna and patronuses, not to mention a CMF with at least two characters based off OotP, one of whom has never been made in Lego before. With that in mind we’ll hopefully see some proper representation for DH1 as well. On a related subject, if speculation turns out to be right and we do get a Burrow set this August couldn’t it theoretically be DH1 based instead of HBP based? After all, 2018 mainly had sets based off years 1-2 but still included a Hogwarts Express based off PoA, so it wouldn’t be unprecedented.
  20. Personally, I’d like to see Aberforth and Rosmerta in a Hogsmeade D2C with their respective pubs and Honeydukes. We’ll probably get a Diagon Alley D2C before a Hogsmeade one, but I think the theme has enough mileage for it to happen. Narcissa appeared back in 2011 in the Forbidden Forest set - appropriate considering her key role in that confrontation. I would not be surprised if Lego did a recreation of that set once they get to DH2, since there aren’t many scenes from that movie that would work as small price point sets and this is a rather important one. It’s also possible she could appear in a Malfoy Manor set (although there are other characters who would take priority) or a Spinner’s End (mind you I would put Snape’s house very low on the list of likely future sets).
  21. Well if the rumors of us getting a Ravenclaw common room in the Astronomy Tower set are true then I wouldn’t rule out Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff players just yet. The Ravenclaw common room appeared in the final book, but never made an appearance in the movies after all.
  22. Since so many people are putting up thier guesses for the last 7 minifigures, mine are: 10. Ron Weasley (Quidditch robes, w/ broom and hopefully a new quaffle) 11. Hermione Granger (polyjuiced as a cat OR in her Quidditch fan outfit with conjured birds to round off the HBP trio) 12. Draco Malfoy (Slytherin robes, hopefully w/ ferret) 13. Madam Pomfrey (with potions bottle) 14. TONKS (with multiple hair pieces and an alternate face) 15. Werewolf Lupin (with Padfoot) 16. Kreacher (with locket)
  23. If it were the raw file of what gets printed on the bag I’d say we had a chance of getting the checklist, but the leaked image is clearly edited to look like the actual foil package, and I doubt the people who handle the promo images have any access to the checklist/instruction book art. Ultimately, getting confirmation of the series and over half the characters is more than we could have ever hoped for anyway, especially since we’d all resigned ourselves to not getting series 2 this year before the leak.
  24. Well this is probably around the time actual production would start, and that means the packaging has to be designed. The leak almost certainly came from within whatever graphic design office takes care of package design - after all it’s clearly a rendered image instead of an actual photo.
