LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, it's fake. As mentioned earlier, it's edited to be a slightly less fake-looking version of the incredibly stupid "leak" someone tried where they forgot to switch rey's legs out so it looked like she was wearing the jacket and a black shirt over her desert outfit, just photoshopped to make the torso seem like a new print with her desert outfit under the jacket. -
Pheonix's joker is so visually different from every other joker, and joker is literally one of the 5ish most famous DC characters, whereas deadpool really isn't THAT well known besides the R-rated films and the only thing differing him from the comic version is the shade of red. Even if you say they could bring in the grey suit, it's still deadpool being known as a super violent, profane charater as opposed to there being a version of joker that kills some people. In the comics joker tears his face off and wears it as a mask, it's more about the public perception of the figure than specific iteriations. I would argue james bond is different as it was a creator expert car set, historically sets most kids wouldn't buy, with no figures. They leaked the iron man from the mech and I hope it's fake so much, just because I wanted a new MCU suit, a more classic comic suit, or a cheap way to get mk 85. This is just a dark red one that looks...almost...like....the suit from the game..... wait a second! @HarryVader I agree, once I recognized it as the suit from the game my opinion of the suit drastically improved, as at that point my main focus had been "why are we getting some weird crossover of MCU color and printing with comic printing and elements?" instead of seeing how great the printing is. I hope we get a new tony stark face for the new actor, but this is a good enough figure that if they reused it it wouldn't be that bad.

Agreed, but I think it works for both, just better for kenobi. I forgot about build-a-fig, I've got to get to a physical store sometime. Between that and all the dual molded limbs, it's worth the $10 for or whatever it is. -
that's a great idea, and it makes so much sense, it's how they got around it for star wars why not marvel. I don't think we know yet, but if the aim soldiers have nothing but that head, it will be a new low for lego unless they look like that in the game. I want to go over the "lego can't make a commercially availible deadpool figure" thing, but santa-pool threatened to give me an active bomb in my stocking if I say that. Do we have any sources confirming that the leaked head is aim, or is it just that if you kind of squint it looks a bit like the aim helmet and the aim soldiers are in the next wave? Also, could the sidebuild of the venom mech be like the iron man and thanos mechs?
-
Agreed. I think we will end up with something, hopefully, there's no way they'd have the wrong coloured visor for something as iconic as the AIM goon, but that said this is lego marvel as you say. I would think that as well, but they would advertise a brick-built modok as a character, as they have with giant-man, ares, etc. The aim troopers might be reflective of the upcoming game.

I agree, it can't be that difficult to give us one of those in that color, either. EDIT: just noticed the damage to anakin's robes, my opinion of this figure has improved slightly. -
I fully accept that I was wrong and it's comic BP. Thanos figure looks good, but I won't be picking up the set Might get iron man mech depending on which iron man is in it, same goes for mysterio. Might buy the smaller avengers set too, interesting that AIM soldiers are the villians but only soldiers, not MODOK or anything. I'm also interested that they are AIM, a departure from the animated series, and the villians of the new game are AIM as well. As for the spider-man sets, unless it's a comic mysterio or we see some very good new figure in the venom set, won't be buying any of those either.

I read his profile just now, reading through his posts he seems to be in alot of the roleplay stuff. I think he might just be a kid (not that the roleplay stuff is a kid's thing). I think we actually have a fair chance of a new variant/version of venom since it's unlikely we'd get him twice in a year's time. bigfig venom, agent venom, it's all on the table. oh, I legitimately just thought it was an abbreviated form of original. I think lizard could easily be made as a normal minifigure, albiet with head and tail molds of course. And who knows, we got 2015 hulk in a $25 (or $30 I forgot) set, so it's possible, if unlikely.

I don't think so. In addition to @Lego-Freak's analysis, I'd add that lego has been making a point to show off the whole "plants from plants" thing, with only the plant parts of some sets being made from the plant-based plastic right now. I think they would announce when it was being implemented into other sets, and even if they were, deciding to increase the plant-based plastic's use soley to lightsaber blade parts seem like a really weird choice. -

Ugh. Definate pass, I already have the new finn, and with a price to part that bad I'm not buying the set for another tie variation and a KOR. As am i, though I do prefer the brick-built, they feel more lego. I can see a bantha design in my head, might try to MOC it later. the sith troopers supposedly are part of the first order, I think I would actually prefer this to literally anything else and gurantee it would sell amazingly. (of course they'd clearly never do it as it's kind of stupid) I'm personally expecting it to be something like 2 sith troopers, a jet trooper (either version) and the inevitable random officer. And yeah, the senate is third wave material or further, since the form he appears in (ghost, in the flesh, host body, cyber-senate, etc) would be a huge spoiler. -

I finished my MF last night, and seeing it firsthand, I'd argue the improvements are substantial. The lack of the gaps of the 2015 and 2018 falcons is a HUGE improvement, along with the mandible sizing you mention. That said, the set does leave room for improvement with some gaps in other areas, like the space between the top cover and mandibles, and a section next to the cockpit. I think it's only rey, but that's good they're updating the lightsaber blades. -
Agreed. You might have gotten this confused, there's talk of the series returning as in the OG is on disney+. In addition, even if there was a show made, which couldn't even begin a script being written until after the deal was finalized, so it'd take at the very least 2-4 years anyway. And the only thing we really know about future x-media is that they're working on making more deadpool and bringing mutants into the MCU. And even in the best case scenario where disney somehow gets a show written, animated, and released by, say, 2022, you then have to hope that lego make sets for said show, which is unlikely as there are inevitably less non-mcu sets in years with more MCU stuff and the amount of MCU content EXPLODES in 2020 and 2021. So even in this really unrealistic scenario that disney quickly gets a show out and lego decides to make sets for it, then you have to hope that A: gambit is in the show, B: that he's got a large enough role to be in a set, and C: that lego makes a set with gambit in it. Long story short, the odds are very, very low that gambit shows up in a set before 2025-6 with the possible intro of mutants to the MCU, and even then it'll take awhile as he'll have to have a large enough role in the film, or a spinoff film. And we all know what happens to gambit spinoff films... You can't find some of the trans orange in better colours ( I looked) but if you use a slightly different windscreen shape with your colour swap that could be pretty cool. @Viper Knight Please explain your earlier comment I really don't understand what you mean. As far as I know I'm not in any cinematic universe, and gambit has no cinematic universes about him.

Golden age flash has the metal helmet, right? That'd be great to see. Golden age moth should forever be immortalized along with gonk droid as full subthemes of their own. -

I'm personally pretty happy that the y-wings finally got an update, but I expect as with everything the resistance uses that these were probably created not that many years after the battle of endor, so they'll still be old. the best/worst of both worlds, depending on what you wanted from it. I agree with most of what you've said about the 2020 sets, except I've ruled out the kenobi hut and will buy the mandalorian battlepack almost no matter what. I'm very excited for that bantha microfighter though, we'll fially have an official lego bantha, and I personally prefer brick-built large creatures to the giant molds, so this will work well as a baby bantha or something. I mean, the designs of the ships are very similar, I'm not sure how different they could make it look without veering into further inaccuracy. -

Another amazon set would be pretty cool, especially if they continue to have elements of non-film/show mediums. Any way to have Aphra or Cardinal would be so cool. Exactly. Lego won't be mad, just confused as to why the other stores are lowering their profit margins. Lego may get very slightly less money than if everyone bought directly from them, as they surely offer bulk discounts, but that's the price to having your sets sold at retail outlets. @Cut the Kragle Yeah, it's really weird, it might even end up being a 20th anniversary thing released in the 21st year of lego star wars. -
What do you mean by "I knew it'd be easy"? Also, a character being minor to you has nothing to do with their prevalence in the comics and films, and Gambit is definitely more of a minor character than the others you have mentioned. In addition, as @linnormlord says, all the characters you list as examples except ms marvel are DC, not marvel, and have no effect on this. And even though you personally haven't "experienced" ms marvel, again, that doesn't change the popularity of her character.

So the sith tie fighter likely belongs to the sith troopers? I'm now hoping for a sith trooper varient of the FO pilot. I believe based on our current information via merchandise; TIE whisper is Kylo's TIE dagger is sith fighter However, the merch could be wrong. -

@lego the hutt since you asked here is where you say it was endor, specifically stating not the forest, moon, therefore a gas giant. Again, it is not in fact a gas giant shown in the trailers. Thank you. It's either DS2 or something new, as the remains of the DS1 were canonically used to build new alderaan. Y-wing's only $55 at amazon!?!?! Though I would say lego still had amazon and walmart buy those from them, so they probably don't care as much. -
Ms. Marvel is/was a very popular character, but more importantly was in the avengers tv show those sets are based off of, we won't have full out x-men sets until their film (excluding mighty micros, comic con, etc), certainly not enough where a character as minor as gambit (read: not wolvierne or magneto) could show up. I'm sorry, I don't entirely understand.

Endor is 100%, canonoically confirmed to be a gas giant. People have theorized the forest moon of endor (sometimes called endor to shorten it/because some people don't realize it's a moon and not a planet) could be where we see the crashed DS, or where leia is training rey, but as far as I know you're the first person who's suggested the celestial body containing the death star is a gas giant. I just opened my falcon, and can someone please explain to me what boolio's deal is? You'd assume having a lego figure instead of rose, babu frik, the other knights of ren, etc, he'd have at the very least some information or an image of him somewhere online, but nope. nothing. -

Ah. Thanks We don't know the name, leading many to believe it's an existing forest planet/moon. "coughs in I haven't built my falcon yet, but I did build the mandalorian at-st and promos I got. The endor promo is great, the box is different so you can open and close it for storing the set (albiet you'd have to remove the trees.). The whole thing is very well done, I especially like the at-sts. The bb-8 that came out awhile ago was another promo online and personally I don't like it, the head especially just doesn't look lego, but the body is not spherical enough, and it just looks weird as a result. The raider at-st is one of my new favorite sets ever. It's a very detailed and well-built vehicle, making it well worth the $10 more than the 2016 walker. The figures are great too, the mandalorian especially, and it's nice to get some klatoonians.
