  1. There was a thread about this recently in the sci-fi subforum that was in a similar vein, asking about the color meanings of the classic spacemen. I think ultimately it's up to you.
  2. I wouldn't say we won't see TASM3 (probably not at D23 though), but my guess is that the artist just googled spider-man and the image they did just happened to be andrew garfield's.
  3. To be honest, the only batman ones I could see being successful are the Manor/Batcave, Arkham, and Joker's Funland (and even then, Funland at a $350-ish price point seems a bit risky). Wayne Tower isn't that iconic, most people still know his base of operations as the manor and batcave. Oh, and definately not the iceberg lounge. As for other DC modulers, I think the Hall of Justice would be good, as well as the Planet, and maybe the fortress of solitude like you said.
  4. We were due MBS this year, but the RC took it's spot. I don't think we'll see a jedi temple anytime soon. My guess is the next 3 MBS will be Endor, Jabba's palace, and Geonosis arena, and that takes up at least 5 years. They might even do a proper Hoth or something before the jedi temple. The issue with the jedi temple is that A: we really only see 3 rooms in the films (council room, hallway, archives), and B: the only action scene in the jedi temple is.. well, order 66/the youngling massacre, and I'm not sure lego would go for that. (I'm not saying they shouldn't, just that I don't think they would) It probably was, but I still prefer it. I never liked the bubble turrets, they didn't fit the rest of the republic aesthetic for me, and I prefer a spaceworthy gunship.
  5. Hahaha what a funny joke, yes indeed, all a joke shut up, you're gonna bring lego's new leak snipers down on me
  6. Yeah, no, that was all a joke. None of that is supposed to be taken seriously. I don't actually have an inside source (I thought my comment was sarcastic enough for people to see it as a joke).
  7. Your wish is my command: Thanks for your input, I think this does look much better than the original design. I also have a request for everyone viewing this, as for what color a 7th spaceman included should be. Here are some of the possible options:
  8. If you're doing a mess hall, add Lunch Trooper. I know the planet's not right but hey, he's a shoretrooper. May he rest in peace. I'd love to see the updates on this if you've got them!
  9. They wouldn't do this, but for awhile, Commissioner Gordon used a mech as batman. It would be pretty cool to see that sort of thing in a set. Edit: Main continuity too, batman was dead or something IIRC
  10. A good friend of mine, who's a much bigger Indiana Jones fan than me, has maintained since 2018 that there will never be an Indiana Jones 5. Even after the teaser image, all the production images, etc, he refuses to let himself hope that we'll ever see the film.
  11. But what kind of dinosaur? Ankylosaurus? Also, now I have to be that guy and mention the AT-ATs are elephants. Their movement was created by having some of the guys working on the film go to the zoo and watch elephants walk around.
  12. Wishlist Update: 2 sets remain unmade: Citadel Tower and Fanblade. I'll be starting the Citadel Tower soon but Jeez, it's difficult to make the Fanblade. I have some ideas, but I'm honestly not all that confident I'll be able to make anything that doesn't look really janky for it. Anyway, here's a wave for the Thrawn Trilogy finale, The Last Command. This is the first of the three waves to have spoiler sets, just because the ending is so cool. Microfighters: Imperial Dreadnaught ($9.99): General Cowell The Starry Ice ($9.99): Mara Jade X-wing vs TIE interceptor ($19.99): Wedge Antilles and a cloned TIE pilot. Battle Packs: Wayland imperials ($14.99): 2x stormtrooper (nutrient frame), 1x imperial trooper (newly cloned), 1x fleet trooper. They all have faces with whitened eyes to show...what happens. The build is a small cloning chamber with ysamaliri tubing and a tiny turret. Nohgri rebels ($14.99): 2x rebel fleet trooper, 2x nohgri assasins. Build is a small speeder. No duel set, since there aren't any situations where just two characters go at it. Standard sets: Cloning chamber shootout ($34.99): Some cloning chambers and a catwalk above with a function to blow the cloning chambers. Comes with Lando, Chewbacca, and 2x cloned fleet trooper. Wedge's X-wing ($59.99): Wedge's X-wing in scale between it's 2021 and 2018 versions. Comes with Wedge Antilles, Hobbie, a NR astromech, and a rebel fleet trooper. TIE interceptor ($69.99): TIE interceptor with cloned pilot, 1x spacetrooper, imperial astromech, and 1x imperial gunner. Mon Cala Cruiser ($119.99): Mon Calamari Cruiser with interior bridge, microscale hanger, hallway, and briefing room. Comes with Admiral Ackbar, 2x Ackbar's Aides, 2x rebel crew, Borsk Fey'la, Mon Mothma, Garm Bel Iblis, and 2x rebel fleet trooper. The Grand Admiral Thrawn's Star Destroyer ($159.99): ISD with interior bridge, armory, and Thrawn's quarters. Comes with Thrawn, Pelleaon, 2x imperial crew, 1x imperial officer, 2x stormtrooper (nutrient frames), and C'baoth. Dioramas: UCS: UCS Chimera ($899.99): Largest-ever star wars set, a MASSIVE imperial chimera WITH PARTIAL INTERIOR. That interior being 2 microscale hangers (comes with 8 microscale ties, 2 microscale assault craft, and 2 microscale lambdas), a bridge, Thrawn's quarters, and a barracks. Comes with Grand Admiral Thrawn (new hair mold, side leg printing, dual molded legs), Gilead Pelleaon (dual molded legs), 2x imperial officer, 2x imperial crew, 2x fleet troopers, and 2x stormtroopers.
  13. That's different. Lego has a pattern of making sets off concept art (Because it's not like they have the finished CGI models by the time they start making the sets...), so it's not like they knew it wouldn't actually show up with an exterior view. In addition, that was part of a $30 set. Other concept art snubs like the first order scout walker from 2017 were... $50, maybe? Anyway, the point is, they're system sets, and generally not super expensive. I can't think of a single time a D2C/UCS set was made off a movie releasing as close to the set as WF is assumably to this D2C. The Sanctum was half based off infinity war. The Razor Crest took almost 3 years to get made.
  14. I think it appears at the end of the Thrawn comic alongside an imperial shuttle. Not sure if the panels themselves are helpful, but at the very least it's a situation where it appears alongside a ship with a known size in visual media. Thanks! It is a great book. I think they should adapt at least the Hand of Judgement's part into a disney+ series. Yeah, I know, I've just never had the time. That said, I've started reading whenever I'm eating a meal at college, and I ran through the entire 90s Thrawn trilogy in a week, so... I hope the campus library has them.
  15. OH YEAH IT"S MORBIN TIME BABEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE but yeah we already have the 2023 list. Better descriptions would be nice, though.
  16. Oh, right. Sorry. I spoke to my source and he did clarify that my previous list was false, this is the real one. It'll also include an exclusive UCS invisible jet (no figures though) with special environmentally conscious "invisible packaging". In terms of mechs, here's what I think we'd see based off the marvel mechs: Wave one: Batman mech (classic black and yellow): juniors batman Joker mech (green and purple): most recent joker Batgirl mech (DBG and navy blue): batgirl from the juniors set with riddler A system set includes a Harley Quinn mech alongside a small batwing. Wave two: Robin Mech (red and green): most recent robin Aquaman mech (orange and green): most recent Aquaman flash mech (red and yellow): most recent flash A 2 pack of batman (black and DBG mech, rebirth suit) versus riddler (lime and purple mech, most recent riddler) Wave 3: Cyborg mech (LBG and flat silver with trans-red highlights): slightly updated cyborg figure Superman mech (blue and red): new superman figure Batgirl mech (purple and yellow): new batgirl figure A 2-pack of batman (navy blue and LBG mech, a batman figure that would appear in other sets that wave) and Mr Freeze (rebirth figure)
  17. Eh, you're close. I obtained the list, which has a whopping 5 sets! Here it is: June 2023: Batcycle polybag ($4.99) Batmobile 4+ ($9.99): 4+ batmobile with juniors batman and 2019 mr freeze October 2023: Batman versus harley quinn ($39.99): Batman mech and harley quinn mech. Comes with Rebirth Batman, harley quinn from the most recent accessory pack, , and an exclusive new figure: Joker but with a slightly different torso print. Batboat attack ($59.99): Batboat and penguin ducky sub. Comes with Rebirth Batman, Penguin from the most recent accessory pack, Robin from the arkham batmobile set, and another exclusive figure: Bronze Tiger with leg printing. No release date...but it's totally still coming, guys: Batgirl Tie-in set ($19.99): Batgirl's batcycle with the incredible new keaton batman suit and batgirl, as well as firefly (with a plain black head though, no brendan fraser face print)
  18. I think the answer has to be no, right? Like, if WF wasn't coming out around the same time, they could at least boast exclusive figs for somewhat desirable characters like M'Baku. But because of that, the only character I've seen ANY requests for that we haven't seen yet is Ramonda (And of course, Everett Ross, as any true Rosshead knows). But I don't think Ramonda alone is a strong enough choice to stop an otherwise bad $50 set from being sentenced to the clearance bins, much less a $500 one. There's just no one in the black panther mythos that's that desirable, much less enough to justify a $500 set, especially when almost everyone is appearing in other sets within a month of this one. Like, a quinjet provides (finally) updates to the 2012 avengers cast. An X-mansion... I mean, wolverine is literally the only currently available x-man, and we still are missing VERY important characters like Professor X, Beast, Iceman, a non-comic con exclusive Jean Gray, Rogue, Gambit, etc. Even characters like Storm and Magneto are pretty expensive secondhand. The Avengers mansion could easily be a vehicle for classic comic versions of the entire marvel universe. An Endgame battle could provide highly desirable characters like Ronin, or just other variants missing like White suit Valkeryie, instant kill iron spider, final battle war machine (and rocket? I forget if we got him), plus of course potential for hyper-detailed versions of Thanos and the Big Three. Any black panther set provides.... Ramonda and Ross. I mean, if it's infinity war or endgame based, there's POTENTIAL, but I doubt they'd make a BP focused set with a minifig selection based on an avengers film.
  19. It wasn't. My point is the way he phrases this makes it sound like he's receiving multiple BP sets, and therefore, one of them could be the $500 one. Lego's done collections before, but generally at least some of the ships are iconic (or in the case of ultimate space battle, about to be heavily featured in what was at the time thought to be the end of star wars films. So a pretty safe bet). For example, people might not have flocked to a TIE-d drone, but packaging it with the Advanced and normal TIES made it's inclusion safer. In this case... neither scenario works. Black Panther two will be a big film, I'm sure, but I don't think it'll make as much as the first one, let alone Endgame or No Way Home. And as so many people have already said, superheroes aren't as tied to vehicles as star wars is. And none of these are remotely iconic. Like, it's not a dragon flyer packaged with the Quinjet and Milano. There's nothing there. Honestly, I have no idea what lego's thinking. Whether it's a single vehicle or a collection, this just seems like such a mind-boggling bad idea. Not just a terrible choice for the biggest superhero set, but just from a profit perspective... who is going to buy this? The only way this thing stands ANY chance, IMO, is if it comes with an MBS number of minifigs, and includes some heavy hitters. I don't see people shelling out the big bucks for a new variant of Shuri or Klaue.
  20. It's driving me nuts, I just need to see it, I need to know how they packaged it or what figures are included or whatever is in this set that makes lego think people will pay $500 for a black panther ship. Almost 0. My guess is, as a disney anniversary series, it'll focus on mainline disney characters and their older variants, not acquisitions made in the past 20 years. "a set that hasn't been revealed along with a black panther set" I think he's implying the one that hasn't been revealed is the $500 marvel set.
  21. The only one missing here is "celebration of the theme". You can pretty reasonably talk up anything from an avengers or iron man movie (or even the Raimi films since they were the first marvel sets) as such, but BP? I mean, maybe the packaging is endgame or infinity war, but that's still a pretty tenuous connection. There's got to be more to it than just being a black panther vehicle. Lego's made some wacky decisions before, but most of their giant sets are pretty iconic things and sell fairly well. If this really is just a black panther vehicle, I think that's unequivocally the most astoundingly bizarre choice lego's ever made. (I would say their handling of bionicle G2, but that was mainly marketing errors. The production of this set has to be the weirdest thing they've ever done)
  22. I'm a little confused here. 6950 you could see as militaristic, I guess. 6940 definately, it's very clearly an AT-AT. But 6983 is an Ice Planet base that doesn't seem to be either classic space or militaristic?
  23. Yeah, this is an astoundingly strange decision by lego. Did they do any market research? Is there actually interest in a black panther vehicle lego set this big? I suppose that's definately a possibility. Still a really bad move by lego IMO, like, who's going to buy this. Actually, is anyone here planning on buying this (assuming it is either a giant BP vehicle or a collection of BP vehicles) for any reason other than completionism?
  24. I'm gonna give a slightly different opinion here: I don't like the wakandan vehicles, the more I think about them. They're kind of boring. Honestly, even a purple trim like on the kinetic BP suit would have been something, but as-is they're very "generic sci-fi vehicle" In terms of $500 worthy vehicles, I think there are 5: The Quinjet, Milano, Benatar, Helicarrier, and Sanctuary 2. (even then, the sanctuary 2 is a bit of a strech, and I think it would require a small endgame diorama or at least a really solid figure selection to work. On the other hand, there are a great deal of LOCATIONS, both from the films and comics, that I think could work well. The reason for this, I think, is that superheroes generally aren't about vehicles, they're about the characters. There are iconic locations, like Avengers Tower, the X-Mansion (and avengers mansion for that matter...not avengers mountain, though), but a big part of buying a big superhero set for a lot of people is being able to display their heroes in battle. Hence sets like the ultimate bridge battle. Yup, that's it. You found the set.
