  1. Look, I agree with some of your general points, but the idea that it's harder for people to obtain a figure if the set they come from is bad is laughable. If anything, it's easier, since it's more likely to go on sale. Personally I think the type of figure they have there is alright...I see what they were going for. A figure that's a new outfit or variant, but not essential or highly fan-requested. You don't want a figure nobody cares about, but you don't want to stick Deadpool in a $550 set only. I think for UCS type stuff like this the best things to do are a hyper-detailed version of the pilot (so, like, a mk43 with arm printing), or a somewhat obscure figure that can be tied to the set (an obscure iron man armor like Midas or Southpaw).
  2. Is this that "Bryan Cranston should play mr freeze and be the Batman 2 villain" fan thing that's been going around? Look, I don't know what you were told, but I was promised that the hierarchy of power in the DC universe was about to change. Jokes aside I didn't think it would be any good. I was pleasantly surprised by the Justice Society, but the rock...a movie where he's just doing CGI powers and stuff does kinda show that he has one character he plays in every movie-tough guy with snarky humor. Also, that was the most annoying kid sidekick I've seen since early Damian Wayne.
  3. YEAAAAH BABEEE! THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT! A new TIE interceptor, which we haven't had in forever...and a MANDALORIAN FANG FIGHTER, my favorite obscure ship, the thing I've loved since I got it's x-wing model 6 years ago (Under the name "protectorate starfighter", and the first real MOC I ever made? I audibly gasped when I read that. I honestly wasn't expecting much from the MandoS3 sets but this just got jumped to the top of my wishlist. I mean, holy sh*t. I don't even care if it has awful minifigs or tons of stickers or something.... IT'S A TIE INTERCEPTOR AND FANG FIGHTER!!! Also, fun fact: For both the interceptor and bomber, a baby could have been born after they released and that baby could go on to celebrate reaching adulthood by purchasing a copy of the new set. That's how long it's been.
  4. Sure, but it's not like anyone's sending death threats or saying bad things about the designer. (PSA: Don't do that). People are definately saying a pretty bad design, but whether that was due to a designer, or someone who mandated the designer fit the buildable iron man in it, or whatever, it's not like they're directly attacking them.
  5. Honestly I thought black adam was pretty bad (my theatre had a free showing thursday night, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered), but I really liked the Justice Society and would totally have bought a Hawk Cruiser. It seems like such a no-brainer for a set, I'm surprised they didn't make it. Also, I know this is somewhat unrelated, but
  6. I mean, there's a difference between a modular building, where the interior is a much bigger point of the set, than UCS type sets, which tend to focus on the exteriors. Modular buildings are, well, modular buildings, whereas the UCS sets are more like scale models.
  7. I don't know why this is it's own topic, but yeah, it's what both The Stud and Murdoch said. Color-wise, it'd be a nightmare, since so many things would have to be recolored in drumlaquer (also hence the lack of a naboo royal starship, or actual silver Razor Crest). Structurally, it would be a nightmare. Something like the Hulkbuster BARELY works with it's chunky, pre-bent legs. A UCS C-3PO would be completely immobile in the legs and very unstable, even if they built it into a base. I just can't see that working at all.
  8. The Exo-Toa was a thing back in 2002, which shows how bad the execution is. 20 years on and they couldn't do it any better.
  9. Yup. It's been almost 3 years without Superman, and almost 5 without one in a system set. It's weird that our next one might be Henry Cavill again. (But I'm not complaining!)
  10. Thank you! I did try to add a bit of how creepy/unnatural a skeleton army would be rather than how they just kind of exist in a lot of fantasy era stuff.
  11. This is me, just, in general. I do like the duality of marvel being like "agh only 1 of our 3 D2Cs this year is any good" while DC is like 'Guys, we might get a minifigure next year! And not even of a batman character!". Don't get me wrong the BP bust and Hulkbuster are pretty atrocious, but hey, could be worse.
  12. It's crazy that lego Mxyzpltk has been in a non-lego superman comic, but hasn't been in an actual set. Also, here's that DC wave if anyone was interested. Between this and @Robert8's CMF you can almost pretend they're set leaks if you get high enough on copium.
  13. No one's talking about the fact that you can look through the torso? I'm also weirded out by why they thought it would be a good idea to change the proportions to fit the buildable iron man. It's not like you'd be able to see it when it's inside the hulkbuster anyway, and not like a system hulkbuster where play value is a factor and it can fit a figure without becoming completely disproportionate.
  14. I've been sitting on this one for over a year, but I think I'm finally going to start designing it: Hell's Kitchen ($299.99): Built on a 32x32 baseplate. The first floor is mainly Fogwell's gym, but with a separate staircase up to the second floor on one side, with the Nelson and Murdock sign out front. The second floor is the offices of Nelson and Murdock, with a common area, kitchen, conference room, and Matt's office. There is a spiral staircase continuing up the third floor and to the roof. The third floor is matt's apartment, with his main living/dining area and bedroom. The roof has the chimney Matt's chained to alongside other things. There is, of course, a nice alleyway around back. I might also try to integrate a long hallway on the first floor, because... of course. Figures included are: Matt Murdock (suit), Daredevil, the Man in the Mask, Foggy Nelson, Karen Page, Kingpin, Melvin, Owlsley, the russian, Ben Urich, Father Lantom, the Punisher, Electra, Stick, Nybo, Agent Nadeem, Vanessa, Dex, 2 Fisk thugs, and 2 Hand ninjas.
  15. Neither will I. I've bought scattered copies over the years, but I will never buy a boxed CMF figure, even if they do, like, a Star Wars CMF. Unfortunately (I mean, fortunately for me, as I have a deep-seated and irrational hatred for fortnite), the fortnite thing was a hoax, so there's no reason to think lego has an epic games CMF series coming. Plus, every fall guys figure would have to be that weird bean shape instead of a standard minifig, and while I know they tried that with Unikitty, I just can't see them making another CMF series without actual minifigs.
  16. From inflation, the shuttle would be a little under $330 nowadays, so we'd probably see a new model selling for $350. Coincidentally, 260/350 is really close to 180/240 (the old vs new R2-D2 set prices, which is especially helpful considering the $240 price includes the new price increase). It does bring up an interesting thing, though. Neither that or an endor MBS would work well at the $200 price point of the May D2C, so the only way to get them both would be the rare triple UCS year.
  17. I mean, it's been over a decade since the Lambda UCS, and we've never had an MBS endor (Even then, it'll have been a decade since the last ewok village and 14 years since the last bunker). Feels like it's been enough time. Not to mention: UCS Lambda was $260 upon release and the cheapest USED US one on brickset is $750. A remake would be pretty nice for those of us who haven't been collecting for over a decade. I'm not a fan of constant remakes, but you can't act like this is another landspeeder or snowspeeder.
  18. Looking forewords to it! Thank you! Yeah, I figure if we're going batman based, making the sets justice league team ups is the best way to still get wider DC characters.
  19. It's also important to note that the theme isn't literally dead. We did get a 4+ set and art set this year. I think that if the new plans (The 10 year plan focusing on the big three, and then whatever the hell the rock is doing) start working, the theme will kick back up, but it wasn't like IJ, Harry Potter, or lord of the rings, where we went multiple years without anything at all.
  20. The year is 2015. Humanity's last resistance fighters have sent one man back in time to warn lego before they can produce 76031 The Hulk Buster Smash. The AI have sent their own lego hulkbusters back to stop him. James Cameron thinks this would make an excellent movie and travels back to the 1980s to tell his younger self about it. Honestly looks like it skipped arm day too. It just did a TON of core exercises. But actually, it's like they designed the torso first and then realized they couldn't make the limbs big enough and still have it fit that price point.
  21. Dude, we've had either 5 or 8 hulkbuster sets depending on how you count them, with a 6th/9th coming The year is 2085. LEGO 66666 Hulkbuster returns has hit the shelves. It's priced $300,049.99 includes 207,235,433 pieces, and is twice the size of the IRL hulkbuster. 100% agree. I assume what happened is due to concerns over the DC film slate, they allocated more budget to the marvel part of the theme (since they're apparently scared of comic based sets), hence what we got.
  22. WOOOO! THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM! UCS MORBIUS IS GONNA BE OFF THE WALL! But yeah, I have no idea how they messed up this badly. It's the mk48, isn't it? I mean, it's a weird mix in some places, but that gold padding on the forearms is pretty mk48 looking to me. Ignore this, I forgot the mk44 had them too. To be fair, 4 1/2 years is a fair amount of time, but yeah, it should have been an avengers tower, or quinjet, or helicarrier, or milano, or...
  23. Yeah, too many big sets too fast, and so many of them that just seem like odd choices. What I worry is that they'll see the BP bust and other sets selling horribly and decide "huh, people must not want marvel D2Cs" and then just not make, say, an MBS avengers tower or something that actually would sell well. No. Bad. You can't have an opinion that's not the online majority's opinion. I'll give you this, it is massive. I can understand the appeal there. I get the complaints about the constant hulkbusters, but I kind of understand why. It's like, the one vehicle that's both seriously iconic and fits a $30-40 price point for marvel. UCS Rings of Power title screen.
  24. Thanks. ....oof. The codpiece thing is weird but not a huge deal, but...wow. It's definately a weird mix of the mk44 and mk48. It honestly looks a bit ugly in some places. I'll also point out that the Quadrepedal $800 AT-AT is taller than this bipedal $550 set.
