  1. Pretty solid list, though it's disgraceful how low you've put bale (below KILMER? KILMER?) . I like your descriptions of Battinson and Batfleck. I'll be honest, out of all the Baleman criticisms, "lack of a character arc" is not one I've heard before. I thought he had a pretty solid character arc, with the first movie being about him forging his hero identity and channeling his anger and grief into something useful, the second about him learning what it means to be batman and how far he can take his fight, and the third about him giving up everything he has, including Batman, and finding happiness. Any list where Clooney is last is a good list. I like that you had something positive to say about literally everyone else. I also agree that Two-face would have been much better with Billy Dee Williams, since his charm would have made the wackiness of the character fit more.
  2. Again, glad there's absolutely massive demand for Luthen's ship here. It's like a polite version of the 501st battle pack. I liked the aliens, and loved the "tubes" bit, though it also I'm glad they didn't say f*** in star wars, as I think it's a little out of place like you said, but I love that they worked it in in a way.
  3. I don't know if they'll do it for Andor (Unless EP12 has my theory that ), but it's cameo in Andor definately won't hurt it from being a set. I do hope they go back to rogue one, between stuff like the partisan x-wing, Zeta Shuttle, TIE Reaper, and AT-ACT that we never got, and stuff we need remakes/bigger versions of like the U-wing, there's so much untapped set material. I'm glad to see so many people asking for Luthen's ship. I really hope they make it.
  4. Yeah, I never understood that argument. Most Batmans have killed, and at least Batfleck and Baleman had consequences shown instead of acting like it didn't happen. It also feels like something that, realistically, batman would have to do, so I'm fine seeing it so long as they take the time to show how it hurts him (forcing Baleman into retirement, the fact that Batfleck was basically an antihero in BvS). I'll give you that. I never had a childhood batman, because the first two acts of TDK trilogy came out when I was too young to watch them, and I never bothered to see the third one. I think the only Batman film I've seen on screen is the 2022 one. Over the last two years I've grown to love the character (and like the wider universe. The Lantern Corps alone could be it's own cinematic universe). So everything I've seen is from movies I've watched between the ages of 15 and 18, so... no nostalgia in the way that I've got for the Avengers (which is now declining... Zaslev really has a chance here to flip the tables).
  5. Ideally they'd stop using that sand green color, too. It would be nice to get a couple in an Andor set *cough* Luthen's ship *cough* Yeah, the only army trooper we have being a muddy, battle-damaged Han Solo that somehow costs $35 isn't conducive for army-building. Just putting two of them in a set would be enough for me.
  6. That's fair. Your list is respectable enough I suppose, I just wanted to highlight these two excellent takes here. I also love that that movie caused Tommy Lee jones to just actively hate Jim Carrey (The best joker from batman forever. Weird that they only did two jokers, though. The comic had three.). This is a solid list, and I feel like the most conventional one. I'll grant Keaton's got a nice suit. Did Keaton start "I'm Batman!"? because if so I might move him above Westman in my list.
  7. "New from lego the godfather" The forum talked discussed this awhile back, and someone pointed out that the set would need to be absolutely massive to fit both the Manor and Batcave in any real capacity. Look at the HAHAHAHHHAHAHAHHAH-I'm going to break your spine Nolan Batman is the best live action one no question-HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA Look, the list has Nolan at #1, and Clooney and Kilmer on the other end. There can be some debate as to who's in the middle, but the brackets are set. Dissent will not be tolerated. I could see an argument made for Conroy being put above him in terms of overall batman, but THREE people above Baleman, including live-action ones? No. Personally, I'd go: Baleman: The suit, perfectly modernized. The character realized properly for a grounded world. The unequivocally best logo. The only batmobile that makes sense in the real world. The best performance as both The Bat and Bruce. A perfect beginning, middle and end to his character arc. The best plots. It is a masterpiece, James. Complete, Comprehensive. (controversial pick): Batfleck: Not a fan of BvS, but snyder cut alone puts him up here. Where Bale is the Batman of the "real world", Affleck is the mythical batman of the justice league. A hulking figure in a fabric outfit, killing aliens. Solid symbol. Batmobile is good, the tank at the end is awesome. Weird start to his story but a great continuation in synder cut, alas without an end. Battinson: A solid attempt to dethrone Bale, but not close enough. An excellent logo and suit (albiet with a goofy cowl), as well as the best gadgets and batmobile. This batman might be able to increase his rank with later films, but his character arc and movie plot stumbled in the third act, and as of yet there's no bruce wayne. Westman: Look, for the 60s, this was pretty dang comic-accurate. He just needed slightly taller ears. Other than that, he's perfect for that era. The main issue is just that that era of batman was kind of stupid. (VERY controversial pick): Keatonman: The suit's pretty good, I'll give you that. But I just... I don't like his bruce wayne, or his batman. The films are simultaneously goofier than the should be for the time and really dark. Also starts the trend of batman killing in live action adaptions, except unlike the future ones this is not used to develop the character and no consequences arise from it. Kick-(megablocks? Really? I swear we used to be able to say that) Fine, "cool" batmobile, though. Kilman: He looks a little more like bruce wayne, but the acting's not as good. Clowney: Bat nipples, disco batmobile.
  8. I think this is the first time I've heard someone complain that we DIDN'T get a new made-for-merch stormtrooper variant. Either way, this show has non-mimban Army troopers, which was huge for me as a fan of the old legends notion that stormtroopers were shock troops and most troops were just standard Army/Navy. And yeah, it's debatable as to whether or not they're new, but still, it's something. A minfigure would be different enough, at least. I do think that Tbobf needs that set. I didn't like the show, but the set would sell well. And I think that's the difference between quality and how well a set from it would sell. Luthen's monologue by the elevator is one of my favorite SW scenes, but it'd be a terrible set. Meanwhile, I think the TBoBF finale was a disjointed mess (though I loved the scene where it was just Boba and Mando alone), but it would be a great set.
  9. I mean, yeah, no one's saying The Batman is worse than Black Adam. But Black Adam probably has more appeal to kids, with flashier heroes, a more simple story (and for concerned parents, a lack of f-bombs and exotic dancers). Quality of the movie has never been the metric of sets. That's like saying all our DC sets should be based on the Nolan trilogy (which...don't tempt me) or hell, if we take it far enough, that we should have sets for The Godfather trilogy rather than any DC sets. A few people have, but it's good to repeat. We get so caught up in arguing with their premise that we forget the premise itself is nonsensical.
  10. No, no, no. Digifigs are a thing of the past. Link will have a Cyberfig. It'll look like a digifig, but it's entirely digital and you can only see it by putting on an expensive pair of lego vr goggles.
  11. I didn't even like black adam, but I'd be tempted by a hawkjet, or at least a Dr. Fate figure. Since the superheroes budget is shared, I think it went into the Marvel D2Cs this year. So glad it did, the BP bust and Hulkbuster are the two best D2Cs ever made. "Who can help batman instantaneously turn Riddler into a pile of ash so batman can circumvent his no kill rule by not being the one to do it?"
  12. I've never heard of 5x vip points before... that does not bode well for the set. I hope that they realize that the modulars are the ones selling best and start making mostly those for D2Cs, but you just KNOW they'll get the wrong message and decide marvel D2Cs don't sell. Could be, but I don't see why they'd lie and say it was the "we can't count to the anniversary" or whatever if the real reason was that Marvel didn't want to.
  13. And not even the famous one, but the much more obscure (yet no less cool) miniseries! Your overall point is a good thing to remember, not just in the specific scenario (People, including me, focusing more on the "hah, gotcha, there were kid friendly DC movies this year" rather than the fact that they can make DC sets without movies), but in the wider world as well. It's not just that their argument is inaccurate, but the premise doesn't even make sense. Of course lego can make sets not based on the movies, I'd guess they make up the majority of DC/Batman sets!
  14. It's definately suspicious. I mean, between that and some other excuses they've made like: -we couldn't figure out how to count anniversaries (for why we didn't get super heroes anniversary sets). This is a stupid enough excuse for DC, but for marvel it's either the 10th or 20th anniversary, so it's not like you'd have to put something like "16th anniversary" on the box. -recent DC content has been too adult focused (for why there was one (1) dc system set this year) *If you're not aware, there was a theatrically released animated kid's DC movie about the justice league's pets this year in which Batman and Superman have supporting roles* It really seems like the lego designers are giving BS excuses. Reminds me of "all yellow clones look alike" from last year with the republic gunship set.
  15. Ugh, this is realistic enough bureaucracy that I'm willing to believe it's true, but still super annoying. Like @Robert8 says, it's not like everything DC's been putting out has been for adults. I can also see the conversation about the anniversary date now: "Hey guys, we should do an anniversary wave for the 10th year of the DC license". "Well, wouldn't it be the 16th year? It started in '06." "Are we counting the gap years? Because then it's only the 13th year." "2022 is basically a gap year if we're not doing anniversary sets" "Well, Technically there were the convention exclusives in 2005 and 2011, so it's really the 18th year" "Yeah, but if we count the gap years, it's the 15th year." "Wait, the theme can't drive yet? That means we shouldn't make Batmobiles until 2023!" "Well, if we can't make batmobiles, I don't think there's anything else from DC comics we can do. We'll put out a 4+ set or something so it's not a gap year." "But if it's not a batmobile, what can we do?" "A batcycle or something, I don't care." "Can people under 16 drive motorcycles?" "Probably in some country somewhere. Look, I'm 15 minutes late for my lunch break, can we wrap this up?"
  16. I think the only pre-disney+ show that we know is canon right now is Daredevil, and even then I think/fear Born Again will be a soft reboot and tonally different. According to leaks My guess is the netflix shows will be canon, but not the shows from other networks like AoS, Runaways, or Cloak and Dagger.
  17. Very impressive! I would say it's on part with the official helmets, but that almost feels like an insult to this one, which doesn't rely on stickers or prints to convey details.
  18. Very nice. I think the T-6 and Gunship are totally going to happen, though the shuttle might be a little smaller than $130. I tried to build ventress's starfighter over the summer and I couldn't figure it out. Now the lego designers are assumably much better at this, but I just can't see a way to build it in a way it can fold without a massive cloth piece.
  19. I'm not saying they should have made it look exactly like the movie one (but transparent parts exist, so they could have gotten at least a little closer in that regard by using more than 3) but the front portion of the sub especially just doesn't look like the movie one.
  20. I honestly don't understand that outfit at all. It looks more combat like/wakandan than the tracksuit, so I'm not sure where it would fit in the movie. As for the minisub (Don't think it's a spoiler, but I'll be safe) As for the other question, that's a double no. Braids would be a very nice piece. I mean, even outside of marvel (And the ragnorak Heimdall figure we need), Uruk-Hai and vikings use/used braids, and not only does there seem to be a castle-type thing going on with vikings where we'll get a set or two a year, but LOTR is back... definately worth the investment of a mold or two.
  21. I like @cosmic's idea, heres my thoughts on the sets: (First off, I though the movie was "pretty good". Nothing special, but definately better than the other 2022 movies. A bit long, a couple confusing plot choices, etc. M'Baku is the best character, again.) Sunbird: Like cosmic says, a good idea, but the wings are completely wrong. Also, I don't think Shuri ever wears that outfit in the movie. Namor's Throne: Fine. Minisub is so inaccurate it might not be based on the in-movie vehicle, but I like the throne. War on the Water: The set makes more sense to me now, but it really doesn't feel like a "war on the water" in the set. I think it needed more figures, and I don't think it was the best set choice. A new Talon Fighter would have been better IMO.
  22. I'll let Jdubbs take this one for me: Just to add on to that. Yeah. Characters like this we can get simple emotions from. But you can't put the complexity in the face of a man who's starting to realize there's only one way out, or a man who in a CGI character. You can't tell me that the "I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them" speech would be as effective coming out of chewbacca (and not only because it'd sound like "grgrrrrgrrgrgrrr") And gives the most emotionally complex performance he ever has. ...I don't think that group would be fine with "well, they're going pretty fast. They probably won't recognize that we're human". Anyway, to try and stop the conversation from going completely off-topic, we should be getting images of the january sets in a few weeks. They almost always leak around thanksgiving (Actually I think the leak has fallen on thanksgiving itself multiple times in the past 5 years or so)
  23. Nope, Kirby and Metroid are still allowed. I think this does mean something.
  24. But the rebels were disguised as Dhanis on their way to the base. I'm sure there'd be a way to work them into the plot without any big story changes, but they'd have to make slight alterations just to add aliens, when it wasn't necessarily needed. Aside from someone like Brasso or Timm being alien, there's not a ton of room for it. In general though, I think the reason he doesn't want to do aliens is that as humans, we read human emotion best. 100% agree. They even sorted by homeworld. My guess it was human males to manufacture that particular widget, and aliens more naturally adept at something else at work in other prisons on other widgets. No idea what you're on about, I bought like 4 of the tatooine battle pack (I'm sort of joking? I personally did buy 4 as I love jawas but I totally get how it's a questionable decision.) My guess is it's economic. The prices of battle packs are climbing, and whether or not that's TLG's fault (I'd say for the battle pack it's not really, inflation's a bantha, but there are certainly overpriced sets out there), it means that they aren't as easy for people to army build. It might just be that lego believes it's no longer economically feasible to have multiple wide-release BPs out in the same year. For instance, I wouldn't buy as many copies of the 501st specialists pack if they were also releasing, say, an endor rebels pack the same wave. Back when BPs were $13 or even $15, I might have bought 2 of each, but now it'd just take me from 2 501st packs to one of each. Ofc that's just an anecdote, but if you've got enough of those anecdotes, it gets to the point where it's no longer worth it to produce another pack if it's not going to increase sales that much. Now don't get me wrong, I'd prefer more battle packs a year, I'd prefer to have that choice. But Lego might no longer view that as profitable.
  25. Glad to see you've turned back around on this show, Stellen Starsgard and Andy Serkis alone are making it the best disney+ series no contest. But yeah, not much set potential improvement unfortunately. Unfortunate, but thanks for letting us know. So...you just want wider releases of them/more stock? Or do you have something against the concept of the set?
