  1. My next step towards designing a transformer from scratch scaled to optimus prime, a "retool" of 10302, Nova Prime. Takara/Hasbro, like lego, has a budget, and as a result, it's cheaper for them to alter the molds of an existing figure rather than make wholly new ones, which they call retools. This leads to characters that are different enough from just recolors, but share the same fundamental engineering of the figure, which is what I did here with Optimus and Nova Prime: You probably immediately notice 2 things: 1: Nova Prime has wings and 2: Nova Prime is absolutely STRAPPED. His weapon loadout here is generally based on the new Legacy figure, though I gave him an extra one you'll see later. He has here two sort of minigun/chainguns attached to his underarms, two wrist-mounted blasters, and two shotguns holstered on his legs. Nova Prime is a little larger in every dimension than Optimus, having wider arms, legs, and shoulders, being slightly taller in the legs even without the wings, and having a torso that sticks out a bit more. Here he is in Cybertronian truck mode, alongside his wingpack, which I made transform a bit into a bird guy I'm calling Wingspan. Wingspan should be able to balance precariously here, though I haven't tested IRL with these exact parts, just general mass. Oh, and Nova Prime definately isn't back heavy, the official optimus is front-heavy if anything. parry this, mudskuffers B E N O T A F R A I D To compare, I removed Wingspan and his guns, recolored him, and sat him next to the official optimus to show you the alterations Anyway, next up is Megatron, 100% from scratch instead of using an Optimus base, though it'll take some time.
  2. "The UCS arkham we deserve, but not and the one we need right now."
  3. This fits perfectly with his motivations as a lethal protector, I have no idea what you're talking about. He clearly needed the money-and the mech-to prepare for Morbius's impending arrival. No, no, no. We've been over this. Venom (the one they've been using since 2019), Wolverine (the one from the mech), Venomized Wolverine, and wolverized venomarine (It's venomized wolveriene's mask and head with a US marine corps torso. Venomized, though, we can't have anything looking military-like) Exactly. If Daredevil and Punisher are too much for lego to do in anything but an 18+ set, we aren't getting deadpool sets. (Also, I still don't understand how Black Cat's costume is too sexulized for a minifig. We've had more "revealing" torso prints before. I can get not wanting to print details, but I think a tan triangle would have been fine. Not a huge issue, though, and it kinda resembles her PS4 suit.) The MOST I could see is a deadpool fig getting released in an X-men set, but a very clearly comic-based one, in an 18+ set, and probably shown to be in a villainous role on the box.
  4. Thank you! I agree, to be honest I was kind of disappointed with it before I saw it connected to Optimus, and now I think I'm gonna have to buy the parts to build it IRL for him.
  5. What are you talking about? The hoopty has 3 minifigs in a $90 set, which is an incredible fig/price ratio, and one figure even has LEG PRINTING! ' Do we have any reliable or semi reliable methods of finding specific CMF figs now? I'm not wanting to pay well above the official price just to actually get the figs I'm looking for.
  6. This any better? My main goals were better fuselage shaping, wings that close correctly, and fitting the full astromech.
  7. Same here. Looks good, but I just don't have $650 lying around to buy it with, or 3+ft of shelf space for a single set.
  8. Same here. The only thing that would get me buying more is a 212th battle pack, and even then, I have enough of the 501st now that I wouldn't buy nearly as much of the 212th as I would have three years ago, or even one year ago. But at the same time, the more clones we get, the cheaper it is to get clones in general on secondhand sites, which an increasing number of kids use (seriously, I know second graders who buy older figs off BL). Like you say, there's definately no way of knowing for sure, but I feel it's pretty apparent that at some point lego's going to have to lower the rate at which they're pumping out packs. Oh, don't get me wrong, I agree. I'm very excited for generic Phase 2s, especially the 3-1 ratio of them with Shocks, who I also wanted a fair bit (but not enough for the gunship). I'm just saying we've had such a large number of them now, I can't see future ones doing as well.
  9. Not to get too far into wishlisting, but I could see: Stormtroopers, Endor imperials (scouts and an officer/navy trooper), shore/death troopers, Gideon's beskar mandos, rebel fleet troopers, endor rebel troopers, a first order pack, etc all selling about as well as the current clone packs. Not to mention, they're eventually going to run into diminishing returns with the clones, right? I don't know about you guys, but I've been buying fewer and fewer copies of each battle pack, just because I already have so many clones. Now of course kids aren't as affected by this, but there's got to be a certain point where there are just too many clones on the market and kids aren't going to keep buying them regardless of what color the stripes on them are.
  10. Even better, I'm missing that one. Would that imply it's based on the first electro/sandman scene and the Lizard is just there because we're missing him?
  11. I'm assuming the Spider-Man is an integrated repeat, but it'd be a cherry on top to get some battle-damage for it or an Angry Holland face print. Or an electro face print without the mask. That said, so long as the set has a good buildible sandman and a Lizard minifigure, it's an instant buy from me!
  12. I love this pack, I'm very happy to get both one of my favorite legions cheap in the Shock Troopers AND finally get a massable amount of P2 shinies. Will definately pick up at least 2. However, I think this needs to be the last clone battlepack for at least a year and a half or so. We've had so many. Let's get something for the empire, or rebel endor or fleet troopers, maybe even First Order.
  13. Agathas all the way down Not for most people. I got that NWH final battle WAAAAY earlier than I thought I would, and I am ready for that NWH set. I really hope it's the supposed expansion with a buildible sandman and a lizard figure, fingers crossed!
  14. I agree about the later shows, but I feel that Skeleton Crew has a shot. If it releases in spring 2024, I could definately see them releasing the ship in January. From what we know of 1HY, Andor and Acolyte sets are likely 2HY, so while any potential sets are likely designed, I don't think they would have started production yet.
  15. I'm not going to hunt through that E-wing set for recolors, but I would easily have taken one of the NR figs getting a re-used print if they had orange sabers, and a yellow blade over the jedi texts book (or the sweaters, I don't remember if those are new) I bought a couple awhile back for TROS Rey, Bastila Shan, and... I don't remember who the fourth one was originally meant for but it's just sitting in my minifig accessory bin right now. Lego should have made it, but for those of you who don't have the blade in trans-yellow, they are currently under a quarter each on BL in most countries, get them soon because if lego's not gonna make 'em, that price is only going to go up.
  16. I've been trying for some time now to make transformers in-scale to 10302 optimus prime, and I figured I'd do the easiest other transformer to make first, Nemesis Prime. Nemesis Prime is, in the source material, either an evil clone of Optimus or (The one I prefer) a version of Optimus from an alternate future where Unicron has his soul. Either way, he's often just a recolor of Optimus Prime with other accessories, so why not do that here? Here's Nemesis with a sword based on one of the figures that's been produced. Nemesis has a variety of melee weapons depending on his source material, but I prefer the sword. Like I said, he's functionally pretty much just a recolor of Optimus. And of course here he is in truck mode... And with his trailer (which I don't think I've ever seen in actual story material but he's often packaged with it as Black Convoy) "My future self, Nemesis Prime. The monster I am destined to one day become." I am going to try to build a transforming Megatron again, but I may do some retools of Optimus like Motormaster or Nova Prime along the way to get the engineering right for a fully different transformation process.
  17. Updated with images of Optimus Prime (10302) connected to the trailer.
  18. Rude, and clearly untrue. Look at the size of this thing. Is it the single most detailed build ever, no. Does it still have a lot of greebling where greebling can be placed, and shows palpable effort and building techniques? Yes. And as @TeddytheSpoon said, the source material isn't the most complex design, it's not like a blank white wall needs a lot of details. Even if you, for whatever reason, think this is bad, why don't you keep it to yourself, or at least find a better way to phrase it than "awfully low quality"? No need to be an absolute jerk about it. As I commented earlier, I think this is a hell of a build. If you want to start calling the builds others put tons of effort into "awfully low quality" and "hardly any effort", you better be able to handle similar comments on your mocs.
  19. Welp, that's the best gunship moc of all time. The shaping, detailing, etc.
  20. Black. F***ing. One. Lego, you make a Black One set sized around that of the 2021 X-wing, and I will personally buy enough copies to make it worthwhile. Don't even need figs beyond Poe and BB-8. It's crazy to me as well. You can't tell me that wouldn't sell well. I'm pretty sure it's frosted yellow as well.
  21. This is incredible! There's so much palpable effort and time put into this MOC, and it really shows in both the sheer scale and the detailing. I know that arc from Andor really grabbed me as one of the best SW stories, and really affected me. Clearly, it had an impact on you too, and I love to see the creativity that impact led to.
  22. It's such a weird set to me. It feels like the type of thing that would have been a GWP. I just can't see it doing well as a wide-release set. On a parts-per-piece and number of figs level, yeah, it's solid value. But on the other hand, I'm pretty confident this is going to hit discounts after Christmas that'll make the advent calendar discounts look like nothing, so I'd wait. I could legitimately see this hitting $15-20.
  23. You might be on to something. The last time the yearly polybag didn't correlate to a set releasing that same year was 2019 with the Naboo fighter (even then, we also got the 20th snowspeeder and podracer polybags corresponding to their respective sets) 2020 had Poe's X-wing, 2021 had the Lambda, 2022 had the hoth AT-ST, and 2023 had the X-wing.
  24. Same. I would have preferred we had a layout like this for wave one: Shin Hati's starfighter ($49.99): Shin Hati, Marrok, Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren (armor) Baylan Skoll's shuttle ($89.99): Shin and Baylan's shuttle (Single-seater cockpit with room for 2 others in the main hold) with Shin Hati, Baylan Skoll, Morgan Elsbeth, NR officer, and 2x NR trooper. Ahsoka Tano's Jedi Shuttle ($139.99): Larger shuttle with interior training room, 2-seater cockpit, and tailgun. Comes with Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren (no armor), Huyang, Hera Syndulla, Chopper, and 2x HK droid. The existing one isn't bad and I still want all the sets, but this would have them at the top of my priority list. As-is, I'm mostly interested in the figs, as while I love Ahsoka's shuttle, it's absurd to me that it only fits 1 fig. Same here. The way I've been describing it to people is that if Andor's been the Breaking Bad of star wars (In terms of being just an excellent, grounded, deep show), Ahsoka is the Star Wars of Star Wars. It might not be quite as good on a character development or thematic level, but it's the most Star-Warsy the franchise has felt since Mando S1, maybe even the 80s. It's certainly the most continually excited I've been for a star wars project since I was a kid.
  25. Venomized Morbius vs Morbizied Venom, including Venomized Carnage, Carnagized Venom (use the same prints just have different names), and a venomized spider-mech
