Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
They don't have magazines here in the US. The cheapest he is here is $9 for the version without any weapons on the back, which isn't as bad as I thought, but still a good bit more expensive than the magazine. -
Dune 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Mandalorianknight's topic in LEGO Licensed
Immediate pre-order. I am so excited. Dune is an excellent movie and this is like the perfect Dune set. I have two complaints: Paul's face print isn't doing it for me. It's not terrible, just compared to all the others, I dunno. The red axles and blue pins. Really hitting us with the bionicle flaws. Everything else is perfect. This should be it's own theme, I want house battle packs. Let's hope this sells incredibly well so we can get a full theme. -

drip is a slang term/synonym for stylish street clothes in America. He's commenting on the outfit the collector wears in the trailer. I have to imagine it doesn't translate well. I really hope they use the 2020 War Machine, it might be my favorite design and I'd love for it to be in a $16 set, as overpriced as it is. -

The latter's a fair point, but you can't tell me that Warner Bros doesn't have a licensing fee in the range of disney. I think that's the point he was getting at. $5 more isn't much if you only look at the price, but if you look at what's actually there, the Ornithopter easily seems like 30% more value or more. And it was worth it. He seems to have a new head too, and.... as I'm typing this I guess it makes sense why they couldn't use the Luthen Rael head since the baron's bald. -
To paraphrase one of my favorite characters, "it's been a long five years" months since I collected people's set ideas for the third wave of the wishlist MOCS. It was long enough one guy just straight up made his himself (And did a fine job of it, too!), which may be one of the funniest and greatest things that I've been involved in on this forum. (Honestly I think your MOC should have placed in the ship category @Per_SW, it was really solid.) I was working an average of 13 hours a day over the summer, and was pretty busy during these first couple months of college too. But I'm finally done, so without further adieu: Oh, wait. If you're skipping through this, make sure to check out the Acclamator at least, I'm really proud of that one. "GWP" 1: TIE Reaper polybag (61 pcs): Requested by @Agent Kallus "GWP" 2: Jedi Temple diorama (271 pcs): Requested by Agent Kallus This one really only needed the one image. The Jedi I ended up including was Cin Drallig, as he's got an interesting role, doesn't require new molds, and wouldn't be in any set besides the temple Microfighter 1: Havoc Marauder (109 pcs): Requested by Agent Kallus (Thanks for filling out the lower rungs here man, people tend to prefer to do the bigger spots) Microfighter 2: Crosshair's shuttle (105 pcs): No request, done to pair with the Marauder. Microfighter 2-Pack: Anakin and Sebulba's Podracers (214 pcs): Requested by @TeddytheSpoon Battle Pack 1: New Republic Battle Pack (136 pcs): Requested by no one, I just wanted to make one Battle Pack 2: 212th Legion Battle Pack (117 pcs): Requested by @ARC2149Nova Duel: Count Dooku vs Yaddle (193 pcs): Requested by @ArrowBricks V-wing Starfighter (294 pcs): Requested by TeddytheSpoon Naboo Fighter vs Vulture Droid (504 pcs): Requested by Arrowbricks ARC-170 Starfighter (961 pcs): Requested by ARC2149Nova Jango's Slave One (1156 pcs): Requested by @YourLocalB2 I want to make clear that unlike most of my builds, instead of a fully ground-up redesign, this guy shares a pretty big chunk of his internal skeleton with the 2019 slave one. What you've all been waiting for, The Acclamator Assault Ship! (1850 pcs): Requested by Arrowbricks Diorama 1: Duel on Mustafar (845 pcs): Requested by ARC2149Nova Diorama 2: Executor Bridge (918 pcs): Requested by YourlocalB2 Other 18+ set: A subline idea I had: "Truth in Legends" (891 pcs): Ships involved requested by @Big_Daddy and @Per_SW Finally, a "celebration exclusive": The Mandalorian's Homestead (1049 pcs): No request, just something I thought would be cool I had a lot more fun with this one and didn't focus as much on whether or not we'd ever see a set like it, so it's got a nuts figure count, chrome pieces on the fighter wherever legos' made the element in chrome, etc. Thanks for looking at all my mocs and reading my ramblings. If you've got any feedback, please let me know! I love hearing what people think about these. I'll be taking a break from star wars MOCS for awhile (honestly probably from mocs in general for a bit, stud.io's been running on my computer for the past two months straight.), with my next projects being a Megatron in scale with 10302's Optimus Prime and a Spider-Man wave of sets, but I'll come back with an Ahsoka wave sometime at the end of this year/early 2024.

That Code Red trailer is really interesting. The start wasn't the strongest humor even for these lego specials, but the whole collection gimmick is pretty meta, and it's interesting that Wolverine is a major player. The Hydra troopers are nice designs we'll unfortunately never get, and the collecter fig is the exact type of thing we'd have if we still got the DVD promos. But in terms of hints for new stuff, I don't think we're gonna see anything. The farthest along this seems to be is stuff from the january 2023 wave. However, you're all clearly missing the biggest thing from the trailer: HERO FACTORY TROOPERS ARE PRESENT. HERO FACTORY IS BACK 2024 BABY! I am of course joking, if they brought hero factory back before giving Bionicle another shot I'd have to thanos snap lego HQ -

This is the best marvel theory of all time. You should replace Feige as both the figure in the AT and the new head of marvel studios. They HAVE to know how wanted this is at this point, literally any blank black head with white eyes is disproportionately expensive on bricklink (Avengers game series black panther, Mighty Micros magento, etc). -

While I wish they'd give us a star wars version of those lego xtras packs, I've got a couple ways to get damn normal grey jetpacks: 104th Wolfpack Battalion battle pack: 3x wolfpack trooper (grey jetpack), P2 Commander Wolffe (grey jetpack). Build is a CIS crab droid Mandalorian warriors battle pack: 1x male Loyalist, 1x male Mauldaloiran, 1x Nite Owl, 1x female Mauldalorian. Build is something like this: Except they all have gray jetpacks. Ignore the stud shooters, I made that back in 2020 when they were still in battle packs. I'm procrastinating on the acclamator right now (922 pieces placed, probably around 700 to go), so here's a draft of an alternate anniversary wave for LSW's 25 anniversary: Battle Packs: Rebel Scout Trooper battle pack ($24.99): Rebel combat speeder with 4x rebel fleet trooper and a Rebel Friend anniversary figure. Clone Troopers battle pack ($24.99): 2x p2 shinies, 1x shock trooper, and 1x 327th star corps trooper with a BARC speeder and small mortar bunker. Comes with a Captain Fordo anniversary figure System sets: Vulture Droid ($19.99): Vulture droid (Trade Federation colors) with 2x battle droid and a Cal Kestis (Survivor) anniversary figure. Naboo Starfighter ($39.99): Naboo Starfighter with Child Anakin, R2-D2, 2x battle droid, and a Jedi Knight Revan anniversary figure. TIE Interceptor ($59.99): TIE interceptor with TIE pilot, 2x Imperial Navy Trooper, Admiral Piett, and a Mara Jade anniversary figure. TIE Advanced vs Y-wing ($119.99): Y-wing and TIE Advanced with Darth Vader, a TIE Pilot, Dutch Vander, Gold Three, a rebel astromech, and a Kyle Katarn anniversary figure. The Millennium Falcon ($159.99): ESB Millennium falcon with black jacket Han Solo, white jumpsuit Princess Leia, C-3PO, Chewbacca, Vader, 2x Snowtrooper, and a holiday special boba fett anniversary figure. Midi-Scale ships: Sith Leviathan ($79.99): Sith Leviathan with Darth Revan anniversary figure. Imperial Star Destroyer ($79.99): ISD with Thrawn (based on legends thrawn trilogy) anniversary figure. UCS: UCS Tantive IV ($399.99): Tantive IV with interior for all scenes of it in ANH. Comes with Princess Leia, R2-D2, Darth Vader, 2x Stormtrooper, 2x Rebel Fleet Trooper, Captain Antilles, C-3PO, and a George Lucas anniversary figure. The back of the box shows Lucas filming the opening scene of Star Wars in the main hallway. Anniversary fig list: Rebel Friend (Lego Star Wars games), Captain Fordo (Clone Wars 2003), Cal Kestis (Jedi Survivor), Jedi Knight Revan (Galaxy of Heroes), Mara Jade (countless legends novels, Galaxy of Heroes), Kyle Katarn (the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games), Holiday Special Boba Fett (The Holiday Special), Darth Revan (KOTOR), Thrawn (Legends Thrawn Trilogy), George Lucas (Reality) -

I mean some of it, yeah, but you act like the past few years of Marvel haven't been as rough as a good chunk of the DCEU, not to mention the love people have for the Rami spider-man movies, the X-men movies, etc. I mean, I could see it, but what would they venomize? I can't see a venomized building doing well, for example, and I feel like most people would rather have a D2C quinjet or Milano than a venomized version. -

It's not so much for adding desirability as adding value. $30 is pretty rough for just a BARC and sidecar, and if it's only got 2.5 figs, that wouldn't make it better. Last BARC with sidecar we got had a whole extra speeder with it and it's 2.5 figs (one of whom was Captain Rex, if we're going off desirability.) Is Kellaren all that desirable? Like I get that it's cool they brough him back and all that, but in the end he's just a bald human in jedi robes. I could take a Mace fig, swap the head and add a cape, and boom, Kelleran Beq. -

They're gonna put no clones and have it be just Kelleran Beq, Grogu, and then someone like Cal Kestis or Starkiller since they know it'll sell like hotcakes because of it. -

Youtube. All over youtube. I can't play a video without hearing about the galaxy's star child or whatever line Nick Fury says DC gets sets based off movies besides the current universe. Now if only it was more than 3-5 a year... and if they weren't the only sets produced each year... -

It'd be cool to get Black Bolt, the guy who can blow up the moon by shouting. His relevance to the hit show The Inhumans, a certified part of the MorbCU, is purely coincidental. I've seen so many ads for this movie that hearing "Carol Danvers, the galaxy's prodigal star child" or whatever is just white noise to me. The advertising is honesty working against it, I have gone from "I simply do not care." to "If I see one more trailer for this thing I'm carpet-bombing the universe" -
I didn't know that about the gunship turrets, that's pretty cool! Thank you! OCTOBER 2023 UPDATE: We've expanded a fair bit. I got the roulette spin of "lego accidentally sends you two copies of your order" when I was getting some battle packs, so the army's expanded significantly. The final count is now: 26x standard 501st troopers, 2x 501st BARC pilots, 6x heavy troopers, 2x 501st officer, 4x 501st sniper, 2x 501st jet trooper, 1x 501st grenadier, 1x 501st gunslinger, 1x 501st captain, 2x 501st swamp speeder pilot, 4x 501st gunner/driver, Fives, Rex, and Anakin in the 501st, for a total of 50 unnamed 501st troopers. Adding in the 2x clone pilots, 2x shock gunners, 1x shock AT-RT pilot, 1x clone gunner, 8x 332nd jet troopers, 2x 332nd troopers, 1x 332nd jet commander, 2x 41st troopers, 1x 41st scout trooper, 1x P1 shiny, 1x P1 shiny (CW style), 1x P2 shiny, 2x ARC trooper, 1x 212th trooper, 1x unnamed orange legion trooper, and 2x senate commando, we reach a total of 80 unnamed clones. Throwing in Rex, Gree, Neyo, Vaughn, and Fives, the final tally is 85 clones + Anakin, Ahsoka, and Padme. Vehicles/Armaments: 1x PLEX launcher, 1x infantry turret, 1x swamp speeder, 3x AT-RT, 3x AV-7 cannon, 3x BARC speeder, 1x TX-130, 1x AT-TE, 1x LAAT/i Here's a closer look at some of my non-canon customs I made using remaining parts (I was trying to maximize my standard 501st troopers using the parts in the 2023 501st specialists and 332nd trooper packs) L-R 501st grenadier, captain, and gunslinger. The Grenadier uses a custom PLEX rocket launcher as well as a turret from the 332nd pack, and has a kama and backpack alongside yellow caution markings denoting the high explosives he carries. The 501st Captain uses Vaughn's rank plaque torso with blue arms, a kama print, and a Heavy's helmet, and is just a standard 501st captain like Appo. The 2013 trooper gets a cape here and is made a 501st gunslinger, an unconventional soldier excelling in ambushing small squads by himself. I've never liked the 332nd. An orange helmet doesn't feel like a sufficiently different legion, and the fact that they were only ever active in one battle kind of decreases my desire to collect them. However, I got the extra packs when I just wanted one for the parts and Vaughn, so I tried to make them into an elite jet trooper group. The standard trooper uses the normal 501st legs and 332nd helmet, alongside a heavy's torso, sniper's visor, and blue jetpack. Their Captain has Vaughn's torso and helmet with a sniper's visor and officer's legs. My headcanon for their role in my collection will be that they're a special force of 501st jet troopers, and once the cost of 501st helmets with holes go down on bricklink they'll be gaining those.

I swear this has come up every month since that film's release. I'm going to now repost my thoughts on it as if it hasn't happened over and over again. -Yes, this could be a cool way to get Black Bolt and Mr. Fantastic, alongside a cheaper Prof X since this wouldn't be nearly as expensive as the mansion -This is really unlikely. The build would be random rubble/chairs, which is only suited to a diorama. We aren't getting a diorama of a single scene from a poorly-received movie from a couple years back because it had a couple figs people want. -This is not a comparable situation to NWH, one of the biggest films of all time, where all the villains and the two biggest cameos in movie history (are they even cameos, they're basically supporting roles) had yet to be made in sets, and the final battle was an interesting location/build to be represented in lego form. I'm restraining myself from talking in greater detail and with specific examples about how despicable I find hollywood's inconsistent standards when it comes to firing people for moral/legal reasons (I also want to clarify I am on the side of "if you beat your girlfriend you should be fired from your movie franchise"), but I'm just going to say that a comic-based Kang figure would make everybody happy here. Something like: Spider-Man- Edge of Time ($49.99): Kang's time machine and some futuristic attack drones in his colors. Comes with Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, Arachknight, Web-Slinger, and Kang the Conqueror. -
I haven't looked into it too much, but from my understanding the AI they create logs into a variety of sites with new accounts before posting the links in comments it tries to relate to the original posts (here seeing "Games" in a post title and jumping from games-tabletop games-gambling). I actually used to play X-wing back in the day, but I found it too expensive and space-taking to maintain a collection. I still play some of the games with fewer expansions, such as Rebellion and Outer Rim.

Sort of? These guys were conscripts active right after ANH. A couple accidentally panic-kill an extremely aggressive ISB officer and the 5 of them flee in a freighter that turned out to be a kitted-out ISB stealth ship. (I actually made the ship, shown below: They then waffle around for a bit, trying to figure out what to do, before deciding to just go around helping people deal with corrupt local governments and bandits- what they think the empire should have done. After Mara finds them she doesn't turn them in, but basically has it so they have to help her out on missions- which happen to be along the same lines as theirs anyway, so works out well. In the end, they But in terms of who they are, it's kind of the opposite of the Bad Batch. They do have some dedicated roles (LaRone is the leader, Macross is intel, Graves is sniping, Brightwater is the scout trooper, Quiller is the pilot), but none of them fall into role stereotypes like the BB do. They all act like normal guys. Good point, you're right. -

I will not tolerate Mara Jade slander: Mara Jade was the emperor's hand- a badass spy and force-user She genuinely believed in the emperor and empire, since he manipulated her and mainly sent her after corrupt imperials- much cooler and more complex than "haha im so evil" She worked with the Hand of Judgement, a special squad of stormtroopers who left the empire officially due to it's corruption and helped struggling people deal with corrupt local governments- based special stormtrooper group After Palpatine was killed (manipulating what she felt to make her hate Luke, by the way) she deserted the empire, since without palpatine manipulating her she saw what it really was, and worked for a smuggler group -cool smuggler She was one of the few people in early legends to kill a dark jedi - power the likes of Luke and Yoda TLDR Mara Jade is awesome If we want to get REALLY pedantic, Mara Jade's shown up in a billion things, including the mobile game SWGOH in the disney era, a game that's received a fair amount of merchandise, including Pops and this year a vintage collection figure pack. I mean, she was technically retconned into ROTJ back in legends, so we can use that too. -

Not that they don't do this (The shield agents, for example, or just about every hoth rebel trooper, hogwarts student, etc over the past 2-3 years), but even if we view it through that lens, some of the minifigs still don't make any sense. Why is Wasp there? Why not Maria Hill, or an AoU Widow? Exactly. The minifigure choices here are just weird. For the Bugle, a slew of supes made sense. It was comic-based, anyone could show up (And even then, they restricted the new characters to either ones heavily tied into spidey, such as Firestar, Punisher, and Daredevil, or ones they couldn't do in a non-18+ set like Blade) Here, it makes no sense, especially since a number of ACTUALLY related characters (ones that would need new prints and ones that could be made from existing parts alike) aren't present. And I don't believe this "to celebrate the entire MCU" stuff either, because as others have said, where's spidey? Dr. Strange? Black Panther? All characters who wouldn't even have needed new prints! -

My thoughts: Tony Stark, Iron Man mk 7, Cap #1, BW (I'm gonna count the new leg print as part of Hawkeye), Loki, Nick Fury: Solid Re-Uses for characters that needed to be in the tower. Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye Ultron: Very important figures to have in the tower, new prints/molds/colors/whatever were used well here. Vision: UNIRONICALLY THE BEST FIGURE IN THE SET. That leg/cape effect is INCREDIBLE. War Machine, Scarlet Witch: Solid Re-Uses for characters related to the tower, even if they didn't show up in these specific outfits. Erik Selvig, Pepper Potts, Alexander Pierce: Good part re-uses for "civilian" style figures. 4x Chitarui: I'm fine with them showing up, it's good to have an army to go against the avengers. Dr. Cho, Kevin Fiege- There were new characters we may have needed more (Ultimate Ultron), but I'm not holding it against these two since there are other slots for new prints taken up by worse options. Cho is a great shoutout to AoU and Fiege is perfect for this set... though three new prints may have been a tad much. Tony #2 and Shield Agents: This is a fun way to get shield agents, I like it. Good way to make a single new print stretch out. The other two agents have inaccurate heads, and I feel proud to complain about this as possibly the smallest nitpick of all time. Falcon, Wasp, damaged mk 6 (Why? Am I forgetting the plot of this movie? Shouldn't it be a damaged MK 7?): Waste of new prints. Should have been Ultron drones/Ultimate Ultron/anyone else who was actually at the tower. Cap 2, Wong: Waste of a re-use. Should have been Bruce Banner, another civilian type, etc. I'm kind of surprised they reference that so directly here. My thoughts almost exactly. How the hell were they supposed to do a half clear/half yellow cape with fabric? Sew them together?
