Lego City 2023 Leaks, Rumours, Speculation And Discussion

Do you think Lego will release similar baseplates to replace the retired sand baseplate? i.e. 10699 I think it shouldn't retire. -

I really don't understand why the price per piece for this set is so high among most other city sets released in recent years. Is there any very special piece exclusive to this set? -

In most cases I take the price per piece as a reference but this set has the highest price per piece for most city sets, if not all, released in the recent years. -

I find that price of the grocery store i.e. 60347 is so stable and never has deal. -

It isn't the best price, the best price should be $14 by my experience. After all, I am not in the US -

Just got this set today for approx. 17 USD today. Good price? It's probably the first Police truck (except the patrol car last year) that I've ever got. Appreciated that police truck has been improved. -

Looks like there are a lot more City sets released in early 2023 compared to that of the 2022 -
You are already paying A LOT MORE for the cost of creating printed instruction paper booklets that have the same problems as you described.
-
Cardboard inside can help contain bags in better order, without it, they just throw all the bags inside randomly and it ends up some getting packed up too tightly and crease the box! You don't have to be this sensitive, paper cardboard can be recycled!
-
I bought a mobile crane recently from another country the customs of my country BROKE OPEN my Lego box set (not the shipment box). Whole box is badly creased. Lego should really use some more paper cardboard for medium sets to keep the items well.
-
Another "Unpopular" opinion for Lego is that they should use more paper cardboard for smaller sets which has already been used for very big sets e.g. Creator Expert. Many City box sets that aren't too big, not too small though only have a thin outer box, sometimes bags inside will fall aside which easily crease the box in the long run. The controller for trains should also come with a little bit more protection, when you turn the box around it could fall practically from a small height which may damage the controller. Do you agree

I'm happy with most of the trucks which are to be released in early 2023. But the mini fire station and the police station are still garbage
-
I hate most of the City police and fire sets released in recent years, very badly designed and even ugly. The only set I have got is 60316 released this year, I am not very happy with it though.

Prices of most other city sets released at the same time are reduced in the actual market except this grocery store. -

happy to see so many new City sets in the coming new year. Unfortunately I still have a few sets released in the summer that I am waiting for discount. -

Can anyone comment if 60347 (Grocery Store) is a really special, exclusive or retiring set because I have been watching prices of different City sets from time to time but I have never seen this set sold for deal anywhere, many sets I am interested in (and probably others are too) have dropped in its price in the market drastically e.g. barn and farm, farmers market van etc. This is a set I cannot miss but I am always patient waiting for the best deal. -

I am NOT a Lego investor but I am a fans of City theme. I usually like to buy a few more copies of my favorite City sets when the price is right in hope of reselling them and earning a little bit to reduce the cost of my hobby. If City set is a poor investment then I will stop getting more in the future. -

Recently I am getting a lot of great offers for retired Lego City sets which are new and sealed. For example, approx. $12 for 60179 (Retired), approx. $6 for 40578 (not retired but price is really low). Does it imply that Lego City is a poor investment? -

One purple pick I see on the Lego site is selling for $1.92 but quite a number of people here locally are selling them for $1.5 only and they have a lot of it, which means they shouldn't be taken from their box set. How could they get these figures cheaper than the Lego site? I really want to get a lot of purple pigs for my city farm! -

Can anyone comment on how much does a City mini-figure worth usually, on average? Is it reliable? Some Lego City sets released in summer last year or even summer 2020 haven't yet retired, e.g. City airport and areoplane, wildlife rescue etc. At least they are still widely available and prices aren't raised. -
What sets do you think are a good investment right now?
ks6349 replied to Lasivian's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I am a Lego fans and I am not able to judge and predict the value of a Lego set fairly without any personal preference. I resell Lego sets because I am always unhappy about the price of Lego because I think they are earning too much. Sometimes when they have big sales you'll probably spend less than 50% for the same set bought, and for the discounted price they sell they are certainly not losing money, but just earning less for clearance. This is the reason I buy and resell so that I can get my toys for less in the long run. If you totally rely on selling Lego to make a living, you should contact the direct supplier for a real price that they can give to the retailers. Selling retired sets as an individual isn't a way go. However, I am still experiencing hard time selling retired Lego sets, since I only buy the themes I like e.g. Creator Expert, City and Star wars. and I only buy and stock a lot of sets that I think it's too nice, e.g. City mobile crane, barn & farms. -

Yes, the front of the new one turned me off too, but is the details of the later part of the new one better than that of the old one? The station of the newer one is undoubtedly better and they have 2 more mini figures. -

Can anyone comment if you like the older passenger train i.e. 60197 or the newer passenger train more e.g. 60337?
