  1. Keeping the perfect condition of a Lego box over time isn't easy!
  2. The new fire command truck is still disappointing.
  3. At the end of the day it can be found if one insists to search for it, but I don't need to waste this time and effort to convince you of a fact.
  4. How about a slightly damp cloth very minimal amount of water soaked? e.g. wrung out very much.
  5. I have never yet cleaned any Lego box with water or alcohol because I think liquid of any type is not friendly to cardboard. However, dust has really accumulated and I really want to clean them. Would it be even worse to the Lego box if wiped clean by a cloth soaked with alcohol or water and wrung out?
  6. It's fact, truth, widely accepted. Unfortunately, it has been years, I am not able to find out the related news.
  7. I am not able to find out the related news article but a few years ago someone from Hong Kong falsely claimed to have missing pieces and parts by a lot of different accounts or emails and at the end of the day, he built a Titanic or something great (I forget) with all the pieces that claimed from the Lego Group, and then showed off his work in the social network and proudly talked about his tricks on the Lego Group. It shocked the public and since then Lego reviewed and largely restricted their policies on replacement of missing pieces.
  8. 3 minifigures is a surprise for me. Normally it comes with only 2 minifigures for such a small set.
  9. just got it today, looks a lot smaller than expected
  10. Is it difficult to make some pocket money through uploading videos to Youtube to fund my hobbies? I have never been a Youtuber before.
  11. Looks like Lego Group likes to release some City sets in a larger quantity while some in a much lower quantity. e.g 40582 is readily available here everywhere for only $10 and it contains 162 pieces, while the recycling truck i.e. 60386 is selling for $30 and it has only 261 pieces and many shops don't have it. What could be the reason behind? I don't think the 4x4 ambulance is a lot more attractive than the recycling truck.
  12. Can anyone comment if the gift Lego 40586_Moving_Truck has size proportional or similar to most other City vehicles? I am hesitating because it doesn't fall into the City category. If it's size is much bigger or inproportional to other City vehicles then I will probably not get it. It depends.
  13. I have never run a Youtube Channel. I do not intend to make a lot of money but now I want to run a channel that can help fund my hobby. Is there any advice?
  14. but it's USED, not new and sealed in bag. Still good? I skipped it immediately without any hesitation, consideration and regret. The 2022 Police station isn't so the best, still has too much room for improvement, but at least it comes with base plates, which makes things a lot better. The 2020 one was just awful.
  15. Yes, the 2020 Police station was so ugly I just skipped it. the 2022 Police station is the first city station I have got.
  16. For example, Mountain Police Headquarters 60174 663 pieces for approx. USD $30. What do you think? Condition: USED
  17. What is the best price, or the price you will probably get quickly for a USED City set released in recent years (retired, but not too long ago). Assume the condition of the bricks is average, not in a perfect condition, not in a horrible condition though. Just take an example, is a USED CITY POLICE set selling for an average $1 of 20 pieces worth getting?
  18. What's the problem of making multiple posts of the similar comments over the years? Do you just give one comment and never say something similar again in a life time? Yes, I have made multiple posts over the years whenever I wanted to raise the awareness of the issue again. That plastic boxes ripped open in store and stolen is already a history. Plastic box has gone for many years and it was the time when in-store surveillance wasn't common. It's what I have said before, but you just ignored the key point that you can't argue. Try breaking a lego box in store today, see how fast you can get caught. Those who speak in favor of today's Lego paper box without visible plastic cover are only the extreme environmentalists who just hate plastic no matter what, no compromise, but they keep driving and burning oil every day, or who just supports everything Lego has done or changed, regardless of the correctness.
  19. Why little overall benefit?????? On the contrary, by being more visible to the customers, it is adding much more cost and risk to the theives, while more protection to normal customers. The merchant will more likely flip the box and have a look at the contents before issuing refund. The thieve will probably have to replace the stolen minifigures with counterfeit or something else. Most other customers will likely flip the box to see the contents inside. It is adding a lot more layers of protection for normal customers and against Lego thieves!!
  20. You are talking about theives who steal directly in the shop. I am not worried, because if you are worried about this, everything in a shop should be worried, not only Lego. It is criminal. In addition, it is not easy to do this thing in a shop, many shops now are surveillanced. I am talking about those "part-time" theives who may be a Lego fans and have a normal job but they just don't want to pay for their hobbies. (There are plenty of such disgusting people here in my city). These rats dare not steal Lego bricks or minifigures directly in a shop but they buy it first, break the box open carefully and then reseal it and return to the merchant. Toysrus here has been adding extra tapes for years because they allow refund/return but they also foresee or experience the problems. I will not say that it is not criminal but I think EVEN IF the merchant is smart enough to check the returned products to see if anything is missing and they found that, the customers won't probably be sent to the police but my experience is - MOST, if not all, merchants of big stores never check returned items. If they are cheap or fresh foods, they may go to bin directly. But I don't think they will let the returned Lego sets go to bin or check the returned Lego carefully before putting back to the shelf. Without any doubt, Lego boxes in the old day were much better. Visibility means, at least, major parts and minifigures can be seen before purchase.
  21. I have a habit of keeping used Lego sets in its original Lego box which is opened, but the problem is, dust and dirt will accumulate quickly over time, which in turns get into the bricks inside. One possible solution to reduce dust is to wrap the whole box with plastic wrap for food but it is so unfriendly to the environment. I am thinking about sealing the box opening with plastic tapes which won't use up too many tapes, I personally don't mind the condition of a Lego box but will the plastic tape mark left affect the value of used sets so much in the secondary market? What do you think?
  22. I find someone here in my country who is selling the city Wildlife set 60302 for approx. $45 USD which is new and sealed. Is it too good to be true? On Lego US site it is still selling for $71.99 after 20% OFF.
  23. My wish is to create a lot of old buildings that look like the area I was living in. However, it is quite impossible to get similar instructions anywhere on the web, that's why I have to get to learn. But you can imagine that I have zero experience and knowledge on MOC. Any general guideline for newbie on how to get started?
  24. I don't know if it's unpopular opinion. However, I seriously wish Lego would use the flip box in the old day that we could see the Lego inside. It's a great way to enjoy looking at the Lego without having to open it and at the same time, get rid of the possibility that the Lego bricks are stolen and resealed.
  25. e.g Straight and T-junction and the curve one I think they are retired, however, I find some deals recently. Do you think if they are still worth getting? Is 60304 (Road Plates) intended to replace the these two plates? e.g. 60236, 60237
