  1. The local Lego stores have the Castle and Galaxy Explorer bundled for $630 AUD (also available online). I have just bought that (my second Castle) and will offload the Galaxy Explorer on Facebook. All up I am expecting $100 or $110 discount on the Castle for me, and whoever buys the Galaxy Explorer off me will get a $40 or $50 discount on it. Alternatively if you have friends who like space you could go in with them rather than selling it (sadly I have none). The VIP points don't tie into Lego VIP points, but they can be used in store at least if you have one nearby.
  2. Mostly minifig parts and animals, along with select bricks with the intention of creating castle MOCs in the future. I am new to Lego so coming from a different place to you. Since I have so little Lego there is no problem for me to order a few extra of things as I know I will use them in the future. When I started using the system I was quite shocked at the fact I could order a single brick, pay no extra postage, and someone would pick and post that one brick out to me without holding everything else up, and at no extra cost. It really didn't look like a sustainable system to me. My point is more that the IT system associated with it seems much better. I can see that the parts side of things is worse, and to be honest that is the key part of the system so I would agree that overall we are worse off now than before, but I am holding some hope that will improve in the future as we can see improvements are now being made to that end with new parts being added. A long term sustainable system may come at extra cost to us as consumers, but to be honest it is expected from all companies and I think that we had it too good to start off with. The fact it was such a good system for consumers before is what likely led to it needing to be redone. Not a fan of a lot of the price increases on some of the items though - they do seem excessive for some. I tried searching on the Belgium English and Belgium French site and searching for "half circle" brought that part (in solid colour) up on the first page (20 per page) with the ability to filter to get transparent versions using the filters. "Half circle tile" also brought it up, but the addition of the word "tile" adds additional results. Each extra word will give more results so maybe searching with less words will make it easier to find the bricks you are after (certainly the wrong word will get you nothing though and I tried other languages than English and got nothing). i.e. the search is showing results for each word, not the combination of words and I couldn't figure a way to include an AND statement to just find things that had both half AND circle which would filter it more. Hope you don't mind I sent you a pm. I do record my wanted pieces on a spreadsheet but would love to see a spreadsheet with the links including images so I can just copy it. Not hugely tech literate but could likely copy the links to get it working on my end.
  3. I am hoping that the reason they are not in order by newest is that they were available when they first came out (I think it was Jan when I got them from B&P) and then removed when the new system was turned on. So potentially they were already in the system when it was first released hence not new. Sorting by newest will be a massive boost to the site but definitely not if they release different parts at different times but don't make them live in the site at the same time.
  4. That is amazing - didn't realise you could do that until now - thanks for that tip. This is now the biggest benefit to me - just putting my entire wishlist into the search box and it all coming up at once (well apart from the fact they are too new to appear) will save so much time. I did notice you need to be careful not to include a set number in there though - not sure how many (if any) set numbers correspond to element numbers though. Turns out I had one set number in my list to find a part I didn't write the element id down for. Circumstances are different around the place. We have always had a $149 minimum order in Aust so when doing a PAB/BAP order ordering the $19 minimum seems like nothing when we need to order 7.5 times that to hit free shipping. Considering the items are bestsellers they will likely be around so you could just order them less often to hit that threshold and just get standard, or do what you do and get them elsewhere. I don't really see the problem with Lego not sending this stuff out for free which was essentially what was happening before for some orders where people - myself included - would order a 1 or 2 c part from the old PaB system, and the rest from BaP and stick Lego with the bill to post the PaB. Yes different warehouses is annoying but unfortunately I understand the logic behind it from Lego. I live somewhere where all postage costs and minimum delivery costs are high though, so I am much more resilient to high charges around this sort of thing. In my experience these charges are not that bad compared to what other companies charge down here. Also we always needed Bricklink/Brickset before as well so that hasn't changed with the new system (apart from this current wait on new parts). I searched half circle in PaB and then selected trans light blue and the half circle in trans light blue came up - maybe the search is different in Belgium - it does seem there are some differences in site functionality across the regions. You did say trans blue which I couldn't find on Bricklink either, so if the problem there is you want to buy a piece that Lego don't make, then yes - your solution is buy from another company which you were already doing - so that is not a new thing. As a novice I found old B&P unsearchable. I used to go to Bricklink, search the piece, find a set it was in, go to old B&P, search the set, find the piece, use the id to find others the same. I couldn't find an easier way to use that search system. I must admit I wouldn't have known the old element ids which you are using though, so yeah - Lego changing ids does suck if you learned the old ones. I have also used the category/sub category on new PaB to refine things down which worked well for me. I do find this new system much easier to use. I agree that having to wait for these pieces is really annoying - I am hoping over time it will improve but not holding my breath. Fortunately I have only just started building MOCs so this is not a huge issue for me yet. I can certainly see it becoming an issue for me in the future. As a novice this system seems much superior to the old system. Parts not being available straight away is the only issues I have - although thinking about it the new parts I wanted to buy (e.g. animals, minifig parts) would always go out of stock as soon as they released so the only change there has been how long I need to wait before I see everyone else buy them before I can.
  5. https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/118184-lego-licensed-parts-available-from-bricks-pieces/ That has some updates about licensed and unlicensed parts. Not everything but some of the sought after pieces get discussed there. The new system also has a sort by newest, so in theory you can just check that every day for the updates. Unfortunately it doesn't help for working out when out of stocks come back in.
  6. The subset of people who believe that Lego couldn't come up with the Lego Ghostbusters headquarters by themselves and stole it from someone on the Ideas platform. They also brought us the Bansai scandal, the Cactus scandal, and I'm sure a lot of other ones too.
  7. Yep. When explained it made more sense. To me they were 2022 releases because they released in 2022 for most people but the US. The original post did not say they were excluded due to the year just excluding "The Batman" sets, which when combined with excluding Art sets and book sets I read as BrickBob excluding them for not being true DC sets i.e. not based on comics. Hence my comparison of excluding movie sets as they aren't based on original material i.e. the books.
  8. Legs - 6335666 Torso - 6335192 Shield - 6335631 But as mentioned they are out of stock so you need to have "Show out of stock" on. You can also search by set - e.g. enter 21325 which shows all brick from the Blacksmith set, which you can then view or filter.
  9. That makes more sense. Point taken. But if we do include them there is also the Technic Batmobile, and the polybag Batmobile to bring it up to 6 (really trying to look on the bright side here). I have neither of those but may get the Technic one if I get a good clearance special on it.
  10. If you ignore all the sets based on the Harry Potter movies then Harry Potter only had a trunk and an advent calendar this year. Only one more set than DC. I feel like I am the only one who actually like The Batman sets, plus I got a couple of the Art sets on a discount. I mean I would want some more, but I only have limited budget. I am kind of grateful there wasn't a lot of DC as it means I can buy extra copies of the Lion Knight's Castle. That said if Flash is all we receive next year I will be disappointed - I will be more disappointed if we don't even see it due to it getting "cancelled".
  11. I've only seen this reported in the posted Brick Fanatics link however that specifically says: Going forward, the LEGO Group’s intention is to launch novelty elements four months after their introduction – and to release new ones on a monthly basis. Highly specialised elements like printed pieces and animals may take longer to appear, however. So I wouldn't hold my breath for the farm animals just yet. I like how printed pieces are considered "highly specialised." I am assuming most of what I want will fit in that highly specialised category (animals and printed minifigures) so I may still be waiting longer for them although hopefully some will be in there. I now realise I need to have dates on my wanted list so I know when to expect things.
  12. Yep. They were available on Pick a Brick for a cheap price. I bought about 30 of them with no issues. They are also available in cheaper sets which were sold with discounts vs. a new exclusive set. People could order then 200 at a time from BaP (as it was then). They were on and off of availability for quite a while and there were plenty of opportunities to buy them (although not always all pieces at the same time). When the Blacksmith was first released they were expensive at Bricklink as well, but the price came down a bit when they became readily available. You also pay about a quarter of the Bricklink price on PaB and can order a lot more at once instead of piecemeal from many stores.
  13. I only ever buy from Lego.com or the local Lego certified stores if they have a good GWP or double VIP points. Everything else I buy through local retailers who have discounts. Basically direct from Lego I only buy the Winter Village set and very occasionally another set (or PaB etc.) to get a GWP. My understanding is this set will only be available through Lego.com and certified stores (according to an Aussie business who sells Lego sets) so I will be buying multiple copies, but only when there is a sweetener for me. My first copy I purchased when the Lego certified store had 11021 90 Years of Play as a GWP on Lego's anniversary (10th Aug?), and will wait for similar over its life to get more. I plan to get about 4 of these, as I have no other castle sets beyond 2 x forestmen GWP, 1 x Blacksmith, 4 x 3-in-1 castle, and a few bricks from PaB, and figures from BAM. If the Forestmen GWP was available with this set I would likely have bought 2 or 3 of them at that time to get the GWP. This is the first time castle has been available since I started collecting Lego (about 2016) and since I didn't have Lego as a kid this is the only stuff I have to build castle from so need multiples. On the discussions others are having re the sale or lack of sale in this set - I would note from my experience (I have biases about sets and times I buy so this is only as I see it) Lego.com AU site had MANY sets selling out quickly over the last couple of years and many out of stocks. Over the past few months this does not seem to be the case as much (it is still there but less) and potentially any production issues, or excess demand issues, are being resolved. Not selling out may simply be a case of this reduction in issues with producing enough sets, or reduction in demand for Lego overall, rather than an issue with this particular set. It could also indicate that Lego did not want a flagship 90th Anniversary set to sell out so they deliberately over produced in the short term knowing it would sell in the long term and avoiding the potential backlash they receive over sellouts recently. Complaints about costs of sets abound at the moment on most sets, and while I agree this is a massive price point and could have been lower, it doesn't necessarily reflect this set itself is selling less than any of the other sets in the similar price point. I do wish they had more affordable sets at the same time though. I am extremely disappointed that the GWP was not a retail set as I would have liked a lot of copies of it. Fingers crossed for the figs being released in Pick and Build as I will buy multiples from there instead.
  14. The original blog post said "Whilst the original LEGO Vikings were heavily inspired by Norse mythology and fantasy themes, BrickHammer's Viking Village they created is more grounded and rooted in actual history." Although I would note that was simply from the description on the original idea. Like you I don't care if it's all realistic, all mythical, or a mix, but I certainly wouldn't take that quote as meaning the actual set the release will still be geared to realism - especially for something like a helmet. I don't see them adding Fafnir or anything similar, but I also don't think they will be as worried about the little details.
  15. Got my first copy yesterday. The Lego stores here (franchise ones) did the 90th Anniversary brick pack as a GWP ($300 AUD minimum spend) last week so picked it up then. I will likely get additional copies when there are more good GWP as I only have the current Castle sets (3 in 1, Blacksmith, Viking Boat)so the bricks will be useful to me for building additional related items and army building in lieu of BAP.
  16. How do we know that? I thought this set was getting the full Ideas treatment which means redesign and turn into a Lego set. I will be glad if it doesn't come with a helicopter. Edit. Never mind. I see your response in the other thread.
  17. How would you feel if you were a thanksgiving turkey? Does anyone know where to find out the box distribution order - or would someone normally post it in this thread? I may be able to get to a shop where they are not commonly bought from, so am hoping to pick up the Christmas ones and a couple of the knights. I am no good at the feel test though.
  18. I am one of those people who were pandered to - only had a couple of small sets as a kid in the 80's, never played with Lego as a kid - we were too poor to have such an expensive toy. Never had a dark ages because my first real experience with Lego was in my 30's. When the Ecto-1 came out my nephew was in to Lego so I bought him one. Liked the thought of it and bought one myself and loved it - then planned on buying up all the castle sets I could and until last year there were none which was disappointing (clearly there was some Lego advertising in my life to know castle was a Lego thing just that it wasn't in my life). That said I have spent thousands on sets since then and never looked back. There are a lot of "Ideas" I look at and wish I could buy but they never get made. But then I only have a limited budget. If Lego do release a set I like then I will buy it, but won't buy something else. They aren't gaining sales from me, but just moving a sale from one theme to Ideas. Ultimately the Ecto-1 Ideas set means that Lego now gets a couple of thousand in sales each year from me, additional Ideas sets will not increase that amount, but would potentially be the right theme like the Office to pull in a new fan like me who will then move on to other sets. If they don't move on to other sets it is still a sale they wouldn't have gotten, as opposed to just moving a sale from a City set or the like to an Ideas set. Now if all of these sets sit in evergreen Lego themes e.g. The Sitcom Theme, then they may still get new fans, but they will potentially miss out on all the free crowdfunding like advertising, news articles, local interest stories which get run around Ideas whether they make it as a set or not. A set that is just dropped on the Lego site rarely gets the additional crowd advertising that Ideas sets get unless it is some new special set like the biggest/largest etc. Note this is just from my own experience of seeing potential Ideas sets etc in local news, but rarely seeing anything for other themes. YMMV.
  19. Well. The five listed are the five I want. The others were related to part 2 of the question which asked about sets. They could come in completely different sets but it would still be doe, peacock, fox, wolf, and camel. There would be others I would want before peahen, duck etc. but if Lego put them in a set together I wouldn't argue. Yes - I really like that idea. Better be wary it doesn't count as 2 choices though ;).
  20. My five are (with some bonuses added along the way although the five are the five I want). Doe, a deer, a female deer. In a forestmen set. Peacock, with tail feathers spread. In a Fun at the Bird Sanctuary set (which will have a lot of other birds as well including a peahen and duck). Fox. In a farm set with chickens and a duck. Plus a shotgun mould for a farmer (non-military shotgun of course). Wolf. In a Lego Castle Wolfpack set with new torsos and shields. Camel. In a nativity scene with wise men, a manger with farm animals, a shepherd (with a brown crook) and sheep.
  21. Could be the first but more likely the second. She doesn't have tablet/phone screentime at home - normally only on long car rides every couple of months (she does get to watch a tv show every night on a tv), but unfortunately they do have tablets at schools and no schools around here don't. The fact is she wants to use a tablet, and this gave her an opportunity to do it at home so she has jumped at the chance. At the same time she can improve fine motor skills, instead of just playing outside and improving gross motor skills. Kids want to do what the other kids get to do and other kids do have tablets - peer pressure starts young. I do agree that it seems like a good way to wean them off (or in my case it allows some usage where it is providing alternate benefits she wouldn't get otherwise). Thing is though all people are different. The lack of creativity is as much a trait of people as creativity is. Lego may be marketing more to the non-creative people (maybe there are a lot more of us). I do not in the least enjoy making MOCs (and ordering bricks to make them is something I dread) so she could take after me in that respect. The things I enjoy about Lego are building and displaying sets. Once built I see them as no different to any other non-functional piece in a home like artwork, or flowers, or tens of pillows on a bed (none of which I understand but they are for other people to enjoy). With the new Castle I will be trying my hand at MOCing though. I would rather just have a castle scene made of Lego produced sets, but in the absence of that I am forced to make my own. Apart from a couple of small sets in the 80's I didn't have Lego until the Ideas Ecto-1. When I bought that (based on the IP) I looked for Castle sets as that was the only theme I knew of that Lego made that really interested me. Unfortunately until the creator castle/ideas blacksmith there has been nothing released that fits that description. I am really hoping that now there are available castle minifigures and associated pieces I will be able to find a creative side in myself to make something good for them. So yeah - fingers crossed I am moving from consumerism to creativity over the next year. Apologies for any typos/grammar/nonsensicle sentences. It is almost 0100 here and I should be sleeping.
  22. That really depends on the kids. The Animal Rescue mission set is the first time my 6 year old has been able to complete a whole Lego build without being bored and walking off. That was due to the tablet interaction. Kids having too much screen time is generally the fault of the parent or schools, not Lego, the builds for these sets are not long and so the tablet interaction can easily be limited - especially since it is broken into separate missions giving a structured break where they can stop using the tablet and just interact with the Lego or go and do another activity. For my little one it was a real treat getting a little bit of time on the tablet at home (which is normally quite limited), plus it got her spending a lot more time with Lego which I want so she can build her fine motor skills. She currently doesn't have the patience or creativity to spend with Lego so anything like this that would increase her time on Lego I see as a benefit. She is looking forward to doing two more missions this weekend - there are 8 in total so doing two per weekend will give her a full month of fun from the app (before I steal the animals for my collection). This next comment is not specifically in response to Jodawill, but a lot of the arguments/discussions I see on this forum really amount to people not understanding "this product is not for you" (I am sure I am also guilty of this at times). Probably there are many kids with too much screen time who shouldn't be given sets like this, but there would also be a large number for whom the screen time will actually be beneficial in increasing their understanding and enjoyment in a product which otherwise they may otherwise miss out on. In my case it certainly was much more beneficial having an app based set rather than an instruction book. I am hoping that the next time she gets a Lego set she will be able to use the positive memories from this one to push her through the whole build. Plus I might actually look into using other app based instructions if they are set up in a similar way to enhance her building experience.
  23. It took me 3 weeks for PAB bestseller and BAM. It took 3 weeks and 2 days for PAB standard. This was to South Australia.
  24. I bought a couple of the barn set for the animals when I saw them at more than 30% off. Depending on what they came out on PAB I potentially wouldn't have bought the sets. Although with animal prices at the moment I think to get the same quantity of animals from BAP I may have got the set anyway.
  25. If you are really interested in seeing trademark infringement cases look up "little trees" lawsuits. They make the air fresheners shaped like pine trees that you hang in your car, and sue anyone and everyone who infringes on what may look like it is trying to copy their idea. Everything from tree shaped dog toys to plane shaped air fresheners. What is and isn't classed as trademark infringement is quite interesting in and of itself, but the limit they need to go to to ensure their pine tree air freshener is the only pine tree air freshener, and anything that could be classed as looking like a pine tree is in their sights regardless of actual use. The way I understand it is that they ensure that the pine tree air freshener is always theirs and theirs alone. Similarly Lego want the shape of a minifig to be theirs and theirs alone. If you stand to make any profit as a result of using their minifigure shape then you should be in their sites. That would include providing any sort of company logo on a minifigure, as you are profiting based on their trademark. As mentioned above the fact that they dilute what is a minifigure would definitely act against them in a court of law, but so would allowing a bunch of randoms to use the minifigure to promote their company, or club, or event. If it is seen as common use, and they allow it for common use, then it no longer becomes theirs and therefore people have a reasonable right to use or copy it.
