This forum would die without people rehashing the same points again and again, popular or not, and I am not implying you do that - I just remember the previous discussions as I found it to be quite an odd way of stealing which I had seen little evidence of. Yes it did happen but I only saw it a couple of times over years of retail management. What I was referring to was the fact that the problem you are raising around opening and returning Lego does not seem to be backed up in responses here, nor previous responses to the comment, so it may be localised i.e. specific to your country or at least, not to the countries most Eurobricks commenters are from. Lego boxes here also don't get broken into much at all that I see, but the boxes with cheap plastic like Hot Wheels often do. Similar to Lyichir's post, our stores tend to have alarm cords around the larger boxes when displayed, and also larger boxes not kept on display at all in some stores so staff have to get them from the storeroom. Monitored in-store surveillance is pretty reduced where I live as the wages associated with it are too high to counteract what they prevent - it does depend on the store but the big retailers who sell Lego along with a lot of other items tend to have teams that move from store to store rather than being in one location all the time - it depends on the store crime but we were lucky (or not lucky depending on your viewpoint) if we saw loss prevention officers more than a couple of times a year. Yes there are cameras, but they do little to stop people who can just pick up a box and carry it out of camera view giving them plausible deniability. Unless people are caught in the act or there is high amounts of theft from the same person with decent evidence the police will rarely follow up on basic theft. Even when people were caught in the act you needed to have decent evidence for police to move forward with a prosecution, so the result was a lot of money spent by a retailer, and the boxes were destroyed or damaged anyway so there was little benefit. All up you have posted the comments in the right thread as this is about unpopular opinions.

Potentially this is a localised issue as it seems not many others experience this on the multiple posts you have made on this in the past. Not sure what part of the Arctic you are from where this occurs. I worked retail for many years and the scenario you talk about was very rare. People just steal things here either the whole box or rip it open in store and take what they want. They don't go to the trouble of buying things, substituting/removing them, and returning them. It may be different again elsewhere. What we did often see (and I still see when shopping as I am no longer in retail) is that anything with a plastic type container you are describing will be ripped open in store and stolen. Hot Wheels are a perfect example with the $50 plus sets with exclusive cars having the cars stolen off of the sets in the store and the rest left there. Cars, like minifigs, would slip straight into a pocket all too easily. It is the reason the hard plastic cases now exist on high risk (especially small) products. Removing Lego from a sealed cardboard box and putting the desirable items in an easy to see and access spot would lead to more theft here, not less (unless they went to a much sturdier plastic case which would raise packaging costs significantly).

I personally think the red looks better. Although as a new Lego castle collector I think most of your heads look wrong. Been catching up on sets that have been sitting around for a while. Imperial Shuttle 75302 which I really enjoyed building. I was surprised with that one. I bought it on clearance for parts and figured I might as well put it together once. Now that I really liked the build process not sure if I want to take it apart. Imperial Light Cruiser 75315 which I didn't enjoy as much. This one also had a mistake in the instructions (which I didn't seen discussed anywhere else when I looked for it) which has the left hand side bridge sticker placed on it upside down. It continues throughout the build. The image on the front of the box (which is correct based on the sticker pattern) is different to how it is shown at step 220 of the instructions (image links stolen from MKJoshA's review). Lego supplied a replacement sticker reasonably quickly since I didn't notice until after I stuck it down. Given it looked like an easy to stuff up sticker I was very particular about following the instructions which proved my downfall on this one. Batcave - The Riddler Face Off 76183 Nothing special about this build. Hated the stickers but managed to place them well. I like the build overall though. Interestingly this one also had a "mistake" in the instructions where after bag 1 the step numbers started back at 1, and then counted up as normal through the rest of the book. Fortunately that made no difference at all to the build. Need to follow up with Lego though on a replacement for one a clear door piece which was scratched to buggery. Unfortunately it was one which had a sticker, which I haven't put on it yet, but have no idea where I ended up putting the sticker sheet with that left over sticker. Looking forward to getting the "otter battle pack" myself.

AFOLs have been stealing from intellectual property or real world items for long enough, and it is about time they stop. The Ghostbusters HQ, Welcome to Jurassic Park, Fiat 500, Crocodile Locomotive, Bonsai Tree, Harley Davidson Fatboy, The Colosseum, and now, the Snow White Cottage, were all straight up plagiarized from intellectual property and real life items. Clearly none of these things would ever been thought of but for that one person who made it once and uploaded it to a website and no-one before or after them would ever have been able to come up with those ideas.

The only real iconic castle I know of would be the one in the logo (I don't know if that is one from a theme park). I am a casual Disney fan and would think that besides the logo the castles in the movies would be known to more people compared to a theme park castle in the US. I would think the spread and accessibility of the movies is much greater. That said I would not be the target market for that castle as I would only buy Disney sets associated with particular properties I like rather than just general Disney sets. The set would likely target a more committed Disney fan and they would likely know more on castles. Is there a castle at the Disney park in Europe which might be in the running for a non-US audience?

Potentially you are not getting one flag. From memory the box in the set included two flags and a cape. Maybe they have packaged them separately for PaB but it may also be that you get everything together in one lot, but they have put it up separately on the page. I can tell you I am not paying that price to find out what they send though.

6329605 is the 1x4 wood grain print with 4 nails in medium nougat. It was the only one besides the1x1 and 2x2 round that was available last time I did an order.

You make the second one with a droid arm on each each side running the whole way down as the rope, with a bar running between the two as the rungs. It will be movable and slightly flexible.

It was a tongue in cheek response. Hard to convey in text. Just that terrible stickers were better than the lack of quality control which led to a set instructions having a sticker applied upside down in the instruction manual. If it was a printed piece then there would be no option to turn the print over. Don't know how to quote multiple quotes on different pages but your point on the other page about printed pieces just being another specialist part is the key for me. At least with a print I could remove it (yes you can wipe them off without visible damage to the brick) or turn it around if I wanted to. An umbrella is just an umbrella and while it can be worked into a build in most cases a 1 x 2 with an unwanted print will get more use than an umbrella or other specialty piece (although there are those who strive for NPU).

As a hater of stickers I had a situation today where at least a sticker was better than a printed part. The Imperial Light Cruiser instruction manual actually has one of the stickers placed upside down which I dutifully copied and didn't realise until all the stickers were applied. It carries on throughout the entire manual as well. At least with a sticker I was able to get a replacement so that I can place one the right way up (although maybe if it was printed they wouldn't have made the same mistake). I guess in the end I will have that part with stickers the correct way, and again with stickers the wrong (although right according to the instructions) way. I think over last year I had to use the replacement bricks service 5 times to get sticker sheets replaced due to them being damaged in the box. Between stickers and clear parts the quality control is very poor. Dislike of stickers is very much a personal problem and not a Lego problem though. Sure they take a bit of a hit from some who prefer printed pieces, if there were only printed pieces they would take a bit of a hit from those who prefer stickers (my kids love them). Either way they look at their bottom line first and that is why we are where we are today. I would be interested to know how many people prefer stickers vs printed, and how many don't really care either way (which would probably be the majority).

There is a difference between liking a practice and having an understanding of why it is the way it is. I hate stickers in sets and wish that none of my sets have them. Especially when I am looking at my large sets that I paid AUD$1000 and put a sticker on incorrectly because I don't have the dexterity to put a sticker on straight. I hate the practice, yet I understand why Lego does it even though I hate the practice. Fortunately I have not been in Lego long enough to see my stickers peel and discolour. I am sure I will be more bitter and ignorant like others when that starts occurring. I personally love a lot of speed champions sets, I looked at my collection the other sets waiting to be built the other day and realised I hadn't built any Speed Champions sets in the last two years. Every time I go to build one I stop and don't due to knowing I will have to put on a lot of stickers. If I was paying an extra 30% on the RRP of one of them to avoid stickers I probably would, and would enjoy the sets more. But many people would not. Lego have clearly made the business decision to not do this because of the impact it would likely have on logistics and also sales. While I love the Lego product, I don't like a lot of the company decisions, but I also understand that business make decisions in their interests, not in that of their customers. It doesn't help that Lego is so sanctimonious about so many things, yet in the end they are a company and their interests remain their bottom line, not that of the consumer. It just helps that a lot of the time what is good for the consumer will lead to more sales and a better bottom line. I'm going to put my unpopular (at least for this thread I am sure) opinion in here. My opinion doesn't actually matter as I am not in Lego's main target market. They may throw me a bone now and then, but ultimately my sales mean next to nothing to them so no matter what I like and don't like it won't make an iota of difference.

Less than half of the people agreed that the Black Knight's Castle was the best castle of all time (before Lion Knight's Castle). That said you could argue it shows that modern building techniques would improve previous castles if you assume that the almost 80% of people in that "'survey" voted the Lion Knight's Castle the best due to the modern techniques. Although it could also be due to its size, its minifig count, people wanting to show that people want new castles, many other reasons. Completely agree with your take on castle needing modern techniques and modern bricks.

Presumably referring to this quote or one of the other quotes from Mark Stafford "A few years ago, there were new Batman cartoons being released and DC was everywhere, so we had the opportunity to produce more sets." Since cartoons are still being released the quote could be seen as partially rubbish. Agreed though that new animated movies will likely not lead to sets. Without some sort of Blockbuster I would not expect more than a set or two. Came here for the ranking though. Apart from Clooney I did like them all so really a list of all good people for me. 1) Conroy. Would love re-releases and new Lego BTAS minifigs. Especially Scarface and Wesker, Solomun Grundy, Mad Hatter, and Grey Ghost. Missed watching this as a kid but watched in my 20's and my favourite Batman and one of the greatest animated series of all time. 2) Bale. I am a big fan of Christian Bale so may have clouded my judgement. 3) Keaton. My first exposure to Batman and a big Tim Burton fan so may have clouded my judgement here too. 4) Pattinson. He has room to move up the list though. 5) West. 6) Kilman. 7) Affleck. 8) Bader. 9) Clooney.

I don't think it would be selling poorly, but I personally wouldn't put stock in a marketing email designed to say "hey everyone is buying this, why don't you buy it too." I mean the Black Panther set and Hulkbuster are both listed alongside the Adidas shoe as Bestsellers on the Aussie Lego site right now.

A recent new feature I am liking is the icon for identification of Technic and Duplo parts. While there is no filter it will help to easily identify the parts so I don't accidentally order a Duplo brick (if the price doesn't give it away). It does show that they are continually making improvements as well - improvements that have been asked for since the implementation of the system. If they keep it up the new system has the potential to be much better than the old.

I know it doesn't really answer your question but I did get the dark red hood on B&P at the start of the year. I am not sure if I got 6395607 or 6329789 as there are two ids there. There are a number of things which were originally released then removed (including things like squirrels and kittens), however when they have come back they have seemed to be straight to out of stock. I wasn't on within the first few hours so can't say for sure if they sold out or went straight to sold out, but it appears to me that some items are being added with no stock in the warehouse.

Similar for me. Seems to be back to normal shipping times on my end - 4 to 5 weeks. Ordered 27 August received 05 October. No bonus bricks for me though. Had one missing head. Have another order which was done a few days later which I will hopefully receive next week.

Does anyone know the locations of the figures in the unopened box for this series? It should be released in a few days here and I know a store where I can likely get first dibs at a box. I have no skill at feeling so want a bit of a better chance of getting the figures I want.

With the way the current system works it would not really be of great use to me (the old system it would have been a godsend). The new system allows for really easy sorting of parts by type, colour etc. which is much better than the old so it makes it much easier to find pieces than it used to. What would help (from my point of view) although if it is in spreadsheet form it may help with recording things for myself between orders, and if the pictures are shown for those that have no pictures on the current site. Not sure how pricing will work and if prices go down over time, if so then it would be useful to have the date it is added to the system, and the list of pricing changes and dates. I guess the key for me is what would be added that is not already there in the upgraded system.

In Australia we don't need to worry about that. Lego online always sell out of the Winter Village set first week and it rarely comes back when the GWP is available. They do seem to have improved slightly on stock levels though (or people are buying less) so maybe it will be available at the right time this year.
