Review: SDCC 2012 Hobbit Bilbo exclusive
The_Chosen_1 replied to Solscud007's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I caved and got this on eBay, even though I know full well the Bilbo minifig will be released soon. Like purpleparadox said, the sack and map were just so Tolkien-esque that I couldn't pass it up. Speaking of which, did you get the map as well? -
LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors

Good catch. Looks like the perfect place for a minifigure to hide. -
LOTR Project: The Return of the King

Fantastic work! If Lego comes anything close to this if/when they do a Minas Tirith set, I'll be very happy. -
I agree, to a certain extent. To the general public it will make no sense that a 320-page novel is being adapted into three films. Not only that, but to me personally it will feel strange to have a Hobbit "trilogy". It sort of lessens the gravitas of The Lord of the Rings, in a way... The filmmakers make a good point, though, about there being more of Tolkien's material to go off of that takes place during The Hobbit time frame. Even then, I expect to see a lot more Peter Jackson content than Tolkien in these films. Only time will tell.

A new video has been posted on the LEGO LotR page, entitled "Two Minute: Quest of the Fellowship". It's basically a recap of the four previous videos, but it's worth sticking around to the end.

It would be amazing if even a few of these made it as sets! Those are some really spectacular ideas.

Done! As a marketing student myself, it was a really well-made survey. It definitely made me think about my fandom. Thank you!

MOC "Frodo to the Rescue" vignette

Yes, we did. They are actually a very inexpensive piece. -
True, but that opportunity has come and gone with the films I'm afraid. Unless there are more Narnia films on the horizon, I can't really see them doing it.

MOC "Frodo to the Rescue" vignette

I don't recall the exact amount, but it was around 650. -
I was thinking about the Gollum minifigure the other day, and I'm sure we'll get multiple versions of the minifigure (each with a different facial expression) before the line is done.

The cinematography of the trailer footage was amazing; the film will definitely look good. I'm a bit nervous about the direction that they'll take the character in, though. As much as I love Christopher Nolan, I was hesitant about the idea of him being involved with Superman. Batman benefited greatly from a gritty, realistic interpretation, but the Man of Steel doesn't need that.

Nice job! I really like the way you designed the spiders, and how such an iconic scene is captured in a small space.
-
Nice job! It reminds me of the room on the Helicarrier where Tony Stark keeps his suit.
-
No, it's from The Padawan Menace.

I seem to remember hearing a rumor last year that a new Yoda's Dagobah Hut set is on the way. I hope that's still true, I would love a new film-based Yoda minifigure.

That just seems like such an impossible concept to me. RDJ is Tony Stark. Period.

I could have sworn that the video showed a very brief glimpse of Evangeline Lilly in costume. I'd have to go back and watch again to be sure.

This is just incredible!! I really love all the different details you captured in the room. My favorite is the way you used minifigs as action figures.

Very interesting Star Wars/Lord of the Rings comparison

Whoever wrote this article needs to do some research if they think Kenny Baker played Jar Jar Binks, or Bonnie Piesse was the older Beru Lars... -
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be kept the same; did they ever change anything like that in LotR?
-
It looks like they were just recently put up. Thanks for the link!

To me, it depends on how you look at it. The minifigure selection certainly falls under the "army builder" category (with the arguable exception of naked Lurtz), but the pricepoint does not. It's a battle pack on steroids - more so than Uruk-hai Army, which is a much better value in terms of minifigs.

One theme that actually seems like a good possibility (and would be a dream come true!) would be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, since LEGO already has a working relationship with Viacom for the Spongebob theme. A TMNT theme would be great!

MOC "Frodo to the Rescue" vignette

That would make the boat tip slightly more toward the camera, correct? Good suggestion!
