  1. Those expecting the Bard minifig to be available at retail down the line are gonna be disappointed...he's clearly part of the series of 4 SDCC minifigs which are in fact true convention exclusives (and command price tags in the hundreds of dollars on the secondary market). It's disappointing, but at least it's a character that is available elsewhere, unlike all of the previous Superhero minifigures.
  2. Too many folks taking this too seriously!! It was an interesting (and very cool looking) experiment. One of the coolest videos I've seen in a while.
  3. Thanks goodness the Star Wars SDCC exclusive is something that can easily be parted out. Can you imagine the uproar if one of the SDCC exclusive MINIFIGURES was a SW one??
  4. Actually, that's not always the case. Not by far. Lego City is the company's best seller, and because there are no licensing fees involved it's almost a guarantee that Lego's margins on it (or any other internally developed theme) are higher. Popular licensed themes like Star Wars or Superheroes are profitable by virtue of sheer volume of sets sold. It's very likely that Lego LOTR just never moved enough product to justify the line continuing, even if Lego continues to hold the license. I hope I'm wrong, as I want to see LOTR continue as much as anyone; but from a realistic point of view I don't think the line sold nearly as well as Lego would have liked.
  5. D2C = Direct to Consumer, aka a Lego store exclusive set.
  6. What an utter disappointment if the news is true. So many wasted opportunities on Lego's part with the LOTR theme. :-(
  7. If the Tumbler is indeed a $200 set, I'll mostly likely pass. I'd MUCH rather see a D2C Marvel set at this point.
  8. According to IMDB, Tyler Bates is composing the score: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0061045/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cr11
  9. Crossing my fingers that the UCS Slave I will be minifigure-scaled, ala 10212 and 10179.
  10. ^ I couldn't agree more with your thoughts. Lego missed some great opportunities for minifigures with the Tatooine sets this year.
  11. This is honestly the first I've ever heard any criticism of 10188. Quite frankly, it's a fantastic display piece, and the minifigures don't look that outdated.
  12. ^ Seems as though you're a bit conflicted on "JPII".
  13. Unless the film turns out much better than I'm expecting, I'll probably be passing on the new sets. I much prefer the cartoon sets, and hope they continue :-)
  14. Sounds like I'll have to give the series another shot. I paused after watching Season 1 on Netflix because the cutaways got so incredibly annoying.
  15. Funny that you mention this, as I saw Edge of Tomorrow over the weekend. It's essentially the sci-fi version of Groundhog Day. It's actually quite good, and a lot more humorous than the advertising makes it out to be.
  16. I would love for Marvel to do a Golden Age Namor film, perhaps with a cameo (or even co-starring role) for Chris Evans as Cap. The First Avenger worked really well as a period film IMO, and it could be a neat way to introduce the Submariner as well. All speculation at this point, of course, as the studio heads themselves apparently don't even know where the rights lie. :-/
  17. No, they don't. Here's the latest on a Namor film: http://collider.com/namor-movie/
  18. ^ Exactly my thoughts as well. Lego really dropped the ball with including THREE Bith minifigs but not Wuher, Ponda Baba, or Dr. Evazan.
  19. No, it's not included in the Cantina. I was implying that I will be putting him in the Cantina, where he belongs. ;-)
  20. The addition of the Ithorian definitely improves the Cantina set. He'll be right at home there.
  21. Definitely a HUGE day for news about the 'Wars!! The cast is shaping up to be absolutely incredible, and now there's an Oscar winner on the roster to boot. Also, it's been noted elsewhere online, but one of the structures in the leaked pics is very much based on a Ralph McQuarrie painting. It's extremely exciting and encouraging to me that the production crew is continuing to mine from previously unused McQuarrie concepts - something that Lucas did often in the PT, and more recently The Clone Wars.
  22. I agree, Marvel is due for a large exclusive set. Perhaps now that the X-Mansion had reached 10,000 votes on Ideas it will clue Lego into producing something like that.
  23. Hopefully this means that the Slave 1 will be in true minifig scale!! Awesome!!
  24. Since I missed out on the previous MTT, I'm really looking forward to this one! The smaller size doesn't bother me, plus it looks the most accurate so far (at least to me).
  25. ...and that, in turn, is your opinion. Believe it or not, there is a large majority of fandom that loves and appreciates the prequels, and either doesn't know or care about the SE changes. To say that one point of view is "correct" shows a very limited understanding of what fandom has become; there are varying interests and opinions in fandom, due in large part to when someone is introduced to it. Doesn't mean one or the other is wrong.
