I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just assuming Lego designers would rather design a sticker at this scale, this door is way too intricate. The build in the book is pretty clever, but doesn't really resemble the actual design that much
-
I would actually expect a vault or two to be included inside Gringotts, nevermind the fact they're underground but the vaults have this super intricate lock mechanism which definitely would be represented by a sticker. But I don't rule out the possibility that's it's just the atrium inside

I kinda have a feeling that the interiors will not exactly correspond to exterior (with the exception of WWW, which seems to be the main focus). There's lots of signs that are clearly meant to be put outside, but very little in terms of interior detail. The outside will look like it does have those 8 shops, but inside it looks like three or four rooms - obviously WWW, Ollivander's, Leaky and maybe QQS as it has half of stickers on the page. Following that logic, I'm worried about F&B as it doesn't seem to have much detail. Gringotts is a mystery, but I like the theory those parchment stickers will belong there.

it's on sheet c, next to the big green Flourish and Blotts one.

same here. LC, Gringotts, F&B, Ollivander's, WWW and B&B is all that really matters as they're the most fleshed out places. But the existence of Fortescue figure is so weird. Up until the leak I didn't even know hes was on screen! It does suggest that the set will be based on the theme park rather than what's seen in the movies. It makes it even harder to predict. The easiest thing to imagine is Assembly Square but with DA shops, but that's definitely too short of an alley. Potentially the set will have open back, leaving more pieces for other facades, meaning DA could be about 50-75% wider than AS, but that's about as large as it can be at $400 price point. C'mon lego, break the Fidelius charm, we can't wait any longer

Actually the title is The rise of Gru, which implies his role should be significant. And it's the Gru before he adopted the girls, which is full on... despicable That is a fair point. But Futurama set/theme doesn't have to (and shouldn't) be targeted at kids. None of the sitcom based sets were. But also none of them were full themes, Simpsons hardly counts with just two D2Cs and CMF series. We are yet to see an entire theme of few sets per wave that aren't kid oriented playsets. Although it could change seeing how Lego seems to be experimenting with those 18+ products like helmets and the newest Bespin Duel. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking, which is the main purpose of this topic

Gru from Minions? I know he's tame compared to Bender, but still the franchise uses a lot of "bond villain", "evil genius" etc tropes, definitely played for laughs and the movies are watched by even the youngest of viewers.

Wonderful series, I think it's better than the first one. It feels less generic due to having many scene specific outfits, which I prefer in CMF. Great selection of accessories, Fawkes and sword of Gryffindoor being obvious standouts, but others are desireable as well. Small bummer that Kingley has just a broomstick, but I'm aware his character hasn't really any specific item associated with him and there's no point giving him him something he has nothing to do with. Another small drawback is Hermione and Ron having the same accessory, although it kinda seems like the color of "liquid" inside their cups is different for each; we need better pictures to confirm or (most likely) deny that. Also I'm not a fan of that wrapped baby mold, looks too much like a cocoon, definitely would've preferred baby figure.

Sweet lord, Lily and James! I never thought we'd get them! This is brilliant, I need them right now, this instant! I like this roster a lot, I'll gush over details later when there are better pics, for now I need to go to work, which will be much more pleasant now with the leak in mind

This, 18+ is pure parketing. Althugh it seems the 18+ tag has "taken over" D2C sets in general, so I don't think we'll see 16+ on a box anytime soon. If anything, Diagon Alley will most likely have 12+ "rating", like Disney Train and Winter Village sets.

They don't have to give him a bottle. Besides Bender drinks booze to function properly, he's not actually an alcoholic. It's kinda like with pirates, everyone knows they drank rum.

Futurama (obviously). I know the series doesn't have too many iconic locations and vehicles, most episodes it's just the crew flying to a deifferent planet never to come back there, but I think there is enough material for two, maybe three small waves. Besides mandatory Planet Express ship and HQ, we could get Nimbus (Zapp's ship), Wong Ranch, New New York sewers, MomCorp, Elzar's restaurant, Lrr's invasion, Panucci's pizzeria, cryogenics lab. Intersperse that with buildable robot figures - Bender, Calculon and maybe Robot Santa Claus (I know Lego wouldn't produce "adult-themed" robots like Donbot, Roberto and especially Hedonismbot)

You're probably right. Keep in mind I'm just a consumer with ridiculous expectations and/or demands who doesn't know what to do with himself when they're not entirely met and needs to be brought down to earth once in a while . I don't mean to be too negative, I'm way more impressed than disappointed and I hope to get to build it one day, exactly because of its complexity, power functions or not. I have nothing other than respect for designers who pulled it off (and the project creator for making it possible) and I'm sure it'll go down in history as one of the best Ideas sets ever, not only because of its size. -

By uselees I rather meant pointless (just a poor choice of words, english isn't my first language). As in what's the point of having this intricate piece of lego engineering that really well replicates the real thing only for it to not actually function like the real piano when with a better app it really could? So it's rather fault of not having a better system that actually could detect which keys are being pressed, but I understand Lego couldn't have known those 4 or so years ago when PU was being developed. -

"Our piano doesn’t have a ‘natural piano’ function where you play the keys as if they were real because that would have been prohibitively complicated to produce as a LEGO set. (...) You don’t need to know how to play music with this, all you need to do is press the keys.” That's a bummer. Not really sure why I expected more, probably just a habit of hyping myself up. Also only 10 songs inside the app that can be played? Should be at least 50, and that's only scratching the surface of royalty-free classical music that could have been included. Unless you can upload other tracks yourself, then yeah, it would be pretty neat (albeit completely pointless, other than "just because") to have a beautiful piece of music accompanied by a toy piano pretending to play it. But there's still the issue of loud motor which you'll have to listen to along with the music. Hopefully it's muffled enough with the lid closed. Still it's a great model, I mean, what other set has the "technical" inside prettier than the already gorgeous outside? I don't even think it's that overpriced, ideally it could lose 30-40, or 60-70 if the power functions weren't in the set, but considering its complexity I can see why the price is so high. It's just a bit of a shame that all this hard work went into a set that can play only 10 songs and it's apparently useless without the app. -
It looks like it on the render, but the first group photo on promobricks has it in trans-light blue. Although in the same photo Padma/Parvati has Hermione's dress for some reason That's a lovely selection, I must say. Cho is definitely a standout, but Patil twins are great, too. Speaking of which, I'm not really an expert in recognizing new face prints, but if if they have them, they better be double sided - the twins need faces of utter resignation and boredom The builds are nicely done, the variety is very much welcome after four banners. The wrapped up Nimbus is a bit misplaced, someone must've run out of ideas And I would've ditched the Yule Ball poster for a print of Hedwig's Theme on the note sheet

Can't wait for the reveal, if only to see how it's supposed to be "playable". The price is steep, almost a double of what Pirates and Tree House cost, which in itself is absolutely crazy and would've been impossible 3-4 years ago. It better be worth it -
I hate myself for loving this. It's such a weird concept, but it's executed so neatly I can't help it. It could be just pure nostalgia, although I played Mario not on NES but local knock-off, Pegasus (and never finished it, later levels were way too hard). I love how detailed the models are despite being blocky. Looks like there are plenty of quite useful prints, especially the white lines surrounding the "controls" and the volume knob. Obviously I would've preferred a minifig Mario, but I must admit the 8bit figurine has its charm. Kinda a missed opportunity to include Luigi, but that's pretty much the only gripe I have (other than the price, which is always too damn high). Also getting a licenced TV brand would be a nice touch (Sony perhaps? )

My list: 1. Astronomy Tower, but ever so slightly above 2 because it depicts a better scene, ergo has more desireable figures (for me at least) 2. The Burrow. The house itself is near perfect and on par with AT in terms of looks, it's just down to scene and minifg selection. 3. Room of Requirement, another great small set. The more patronuses, the better! 4. Privet Drive. Lovely house, great Dursley figures, but unnecessary Ford Anglia and weird Dobby bring it down a bit 5. Forbidden Forest. Even though executed well, I don't really care for Grawp. Still a must have for the centaurs and Umbridge 6. Hedwig. I do want to build it, see how it looks on display, but it's of the least priority compared to other sets
-
Had a weird thought just now: do you think the Diagon Alley will be 18+ and have a box similar in style to Star Wars and Architecture? I know 5 sets (so far?) isn't any indicator, but it seems to me that that's the direction Lego is going in with adult-oriented sets this year
-
Sorry, there's no way I'm reading 20 pages, I'll just say a few words and be gone Wonderful builds all around, can't really decide which one is the best, honestly. I'm qiuite surprised how actually nice Privet Drive looks. Never thought I'd like to have some average english house on display AT is a big step up from last year, it has a nicer shape and the rooms are more detailed. RoR is a neat little set, nice variants of the characters and the patronuses are a must have. The Burrow is fantastic, still would've preferred DH version with the wedding, but what we got looks perfect at this scale. Grawp looks surprisingly good, but we all know people will be buying the set for the centaurs (and Umbridge). Hedwig is a bit weird, but it's a nice sculpture nonetheless

Damn it, so many pictures on IG and still no HP. Or maybe that's a good thing, more time to process what we've already seen, there's a lot of it. How do you do that?
-
That is a showstopper of a set, regardless of how much was changed from the submission. I am simply in awe, the ship itself is just gorgeous and alone worth the price, but I also like how the wreck is presented, that it's not so obvious it's just three parts of the ship. I think it's well hidden behind foliage and docks. My only small gripe with the set is the usage of those large tan pieces, whatever they're called. They're way too uniform to represent sand, it doesn't look natural. I think I'll try to replace them with just layers of plates, it shouldn't be too hard
-
That makes much more sense I didn't notice the monster book before.
-
I does seem off, too many characters from our wishlists But the new pieces look legitimate. My biggest concern is why do a remake of Neville with mandrake? What was wrong with the old one? I'd much rather have an older version of him. Other than that, the figs look marvelous, especially Richard Harris' Dumbledore and Sprout. Can't wait for more pictures That's Griphook
