  1. @Drunknok I was thinking that I might have to call you out if I saw any more stories like this. BOBS doesn't have nearly enough duelling for my liking.
  2. @Wellesley that is a great little tub! I particularly like the "headlight brick" hatches. A neat little detail that I'm impressed you included. I'll look forward to seeing you on the Brick Seas.
  3. Fake news! Fake news everywhere! So far the Padré has only killed one demon by himself. Most of the other times were just intimidation, or people no-one would miss...
  4. I thought that was the WTC's job?
  5. Oh, I didn't realise there were 2 stories about the Padré! It's almost like he's an easy target or something. Either that or he's got the WTC worried... Whatever the case, you'll be hearing from that little girl again. And you'll wish you hadn't...
  6. @Mesabi it looks a bit Captain Pugwash to me. But that's all fine with me!
  7. @Mesabi I've thrown a couple more pics on Flickr for you. Going to be doing a second build shortly, and I'll put my paperwork in then. What do you reckon a cleansing religious pyre counts as? Arts and Culture?
  8. @Drunknok Brilliant! Didn't realise it was a knitting circle that made the map we're using.
  9. Report by Sergeant Lecoq to the second meeting of the Astrapi Collective Diocesan Council, on behalf of Monsieur Jones. After our return from exploration in the hinterland, the expedition leaders agreed to split the expedition temporarily. Padré François would take half the troops to investigate concerns he had with the Temple of Zeus, while the rest of us would be detached under Monsieur Jones. Our objective was to investigate a marker on the coast that had shown up on a map captured from the Prometheans under the label "Zeus' Bolt". While the location given was not far from town, we were unclear what we were looking for. Therefore we agreed to divide the unit into pairs, in order to cover a wider area. Upon discovering anything promising, we were to fire a shot, summoning Monsieur Jones. After three false starts and most of a day searching, young Denis finally found what we think we were looking for. The lad had seen something glinting underwater and had summoned us accordingly. We gave him a double ration of rum, and began investigation in earnest. Monsieur Jones dived the site. After a few minutes of exploration, he surfaced to announce that there was some sort of key fixed in an undersea cave. He instructed us to pass him a rope, which he passed through the key. Thereafter, the entire unit heaved on the rope and, after much toil we were able to break the key free. Unfortunately the shaft was somewhat warped from our exertions, but I anticipate that a good blacksmith should be able to get it back into shape. As to what lock the key fits, there was no clue. Perhaps another member of the council will be able to furnish the answer. @Mesabi is this build cave-y enough? I wasn't 100% sure.
  10. I haven't burned anyone at the stake yet. Who reckons it's time?
  11. @Mesabi Thanks for this! There are some really nice options here. I'll get on this ASAP.
  12. Do you think you can tell? @Mesabi Thanks! The FigBarf was mainly for Keymonus, who is going to do a complimentary build. I could probably have made the rest of the building, but my partner won't let me demolish Hogwarts for the parts. Spoilsport.
  13. A convent of Artemis. Built and licensed as my competition reward.
  14. @Ayrlego @Kwatchi @Drunknok Thanks! I'm pretty proud of it myself. One day I may make the whole building! Watch out for @Keymonus's additions. Hadn't really thought of the connotations there. I'm not planning on anything going wrong, though. They're nuns. Strict, but decent.
  15. @Capt Wolf Thanks! Especially for adding Arts and Culture as an additional category. Well done to all the participants.
  16. @Fraunces @Roadmonkeytj Thanks for the feedback! I'll try to keep up the good work! @Keymonus Looking forward to seeing what you build. I mean, it was an age of ink and parchment, right? Messages took ages to reach the other side of the world. Mistakes were made. It adds to the flavour of the game.
  17. The Convent of the Sisters of Our Lady of Artemis by Ross Fisher, on Flickr Extract from the continuing adventures of Padré François, as narrated by his companion, Monsieur Gallo The only name she gave was "Weasel". We never found out why, but maybe it was because she could slip away from any problem. She was a born survivor. She had outlasted her parents in the initial terror that hit Fatu Hiva, and she had made it out of the jungle when so many of the rest of our militia fell to the head hunters. I suspect it was her survival instinct that impressed the Padré. When we finally escaped that hell-hole, he ensured that she was well looked after. Took her to the local convent of Artemis and payed well for her to have a good education. Weasel had gone through hell in her life, but things were about to change. -------------- OOC: This is my small Arts and Culture reward from the Fatu Hiva challenge. In my canon, it happens chronologically before the Padre leaves the Ile d'Or. Any inconsistencies like this are Monsieur Gallo's bad bookkeeping.
  18. @Bodi Thanks for the feedback. Looking forward to the final word from the council.
  19. Moar @TomSkippy! Feed us moar of these delicious builds!
  20. Yes but this lapdog is a lieutenant in the Royal Musketeers, and the king's old drinking buddy. If he can't get a knighthood, who can?
  21. @blackdeathgr, @Captain Genaro, @Kolonialbeamter, @Phred, I'd like a title please. I do hope you're amenable to blackmail? If not, I'm sure some cookies could be arranged. Ross
  22. Letter from Duchess Celeste Dupré to Guérin Godefry de Tourment dated 3 November, 618. My darling Guérin, I hope you are well! It has been too long, simply too long since we last met! How is your darling wife? We miss her dreadfully at my salon. Please tell her the conversation is simply drab without her charming sparkle. And your daughter, she must be nearly of an age? When do you plan to let her debut in society? You must allow me the honour. I will throw Granoleon's finest gala ball for her. I am so sorry to hear of your son's sickness. I will send my best physician to you as soon as he is ready to travel. I know the boy has his father's strength, and I have faith that, with the grace of the gods, he will recover. But I am afraid I have a silly request to make of you. It's my little brother. Not the priest; I hear the Order plans to promote him after some business in the colonies, to Abbaye or something? No, we need to do something about the baby of the family, young Pierre. Possibly you have heard the nickname he has been lumbered with? "Le Chevalier de la Chasse" - so humiliating! As if he was some sort of debauchee. His vices don't even compare to those of his peers in the provinces. Like that Hollande fellow, scandalous! Oh, I agree the fellow needs to change his ways, become a productive citizen of Oleon. But he can hardly do that under the cloud he is suffering with. To that end I am asking you to invest him with a rank. Make "Chevalier" more than a mockery. Give him a position he can apply himself to. I know you can. And you do owe me a favour or two. More than one member of your family owes their necks to the gentle words I had with the crown after that debacle during the Juniper Wars. And let's not forget, there are a few secrets of yours that I have been graceful enough not to share with your wife. Please, help me Guérin, you're my only hope. Your affectionate, Celeste Dupré P.S. It occurs to me that you may not know the François family crest - we've been out of favour for a long time. It is, I am given to understand; A falcon displayed parted per pale azure and argent on a field counterparted argent and azure. I trust that you can make sense of that? I certainly can't. [1] OOC, this is my request to the Oleon leadership for a promotion for my Sig. Being a clergyman, he cannot accept a noble title. But his little brother can! And perhaps you can see to it that the Padré receives an appropriate commensurate rank at the same time?
  23. @Drunknok You're building a prison? DM me. I have ideas. I'll go halves with you. For my money, I was thinking of making it a fortification.
