[SR - FB1] Sugarcane Plantation
Ross Fisher replied to TomSkippy's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Honestly, this is a really nice build. Instantly transports me to the Caribbean. Very good work. -
[COR Troop] Raising the Block Watch
Ross Fisher replied to Spud The Viking's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I just wanted an excuse to build some kilted figs for Oleon. Failed Highland rebels fit the bill so well! -
[COR Troop] Raising the Block Watch
Ross Fisher replied to Spud The Viking's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Headcannon that the rowdy clans are Mad MacSpud's kin. A really nice little build. I'd love to see more of the Block Watch in future. -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Ross Fisher replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
That's fine, I can only afford the upkeep on a small fortification. Although a lot of my expenses are being taken up by troop costs, so maybe they can offset one another... -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Ross Fisher replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Bregir Kingsport is an occupied settlement, right? So it would fall under those rules. -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Ross Fisher replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Bregir That's really frustrating. If you'd managed to post this deliberation two days earlier I could've gotten my fort built 18 days before the TRMCA deadline. -
[COR FB] Customs Post, Jameston

Honestly, the quality of your builds is so consistently great that I've gotten a little too comfortable with it. Need to keep reminding myself. -
[OL - FB2] Drydock, Beauchamp Shipyard
Ross Fisher replied to CapOnBOBS's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Perfect illustration of a dry-dock. Now we just need to see it with a ship in! -

We're through the Looking Glass, people... -
[OL - FB1] Beauchamp Residence - Eltina
Ross Fisher replied to CapOnBOBS's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It is a really nice looking residence. A very melancholy story to go with it, though. I hope that the Admiral isn't feeling his age too much. -
[OL - FB] A necropolis for Acropolis
Ross Fisher replied to Ross Fisher's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Ah well, it was worth a shot. Thanks anyway. -
[OL - FB] A necropolis for Acropolis
Ross Fisher replied to Ross Fisher's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Exactly. I'm trying to differentiate the three gods by their styles of funeral. So Poseidon is all about burial at sea, Hades (being the god of the underworld) would accept burials and cremations, and Zeus would be all about exposures and mummification, I guess. -

I've tried holding lights while shooting before - for example in this build. Most of the time it's really not worth the hassle for me. Any builds that are too large for the box get a combination of overhead room lighting and ambient daylight. My flat is north-facing, so it's never too strong. Still, I envy the guys who have a decent studio setup. -

I'm using a small lightbox to shoot these pics. This one, I think: That material is just one of the optional backdrops. I prefer black. -
Settlement: Acropolis, Pharos, Oleon
Ross Fisher replied to Capn Frank's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Licensed as a Small Arts and Culture. -
"Are you sure that they even need one of this scale, your eminence?" ventured Gallo. "What do you mean?" his master shot back. "Well, it's just that Acropolis is actually quite a small settlement... It hasn't existed long enough to have that many dead citizens." "And why should that matter?" the Canon responded. "Every devotee of the Underlord deserves to have his death respected and honoured in style." "To be quite candid, your eminence, up until this point most of those who have died have been sailors. They have been buried at sea after the custom of Poseidon." "Ugh," Canon François responded. Monsieur Gallo knew that he was not fond of the other Aplynician Brothers muscling in on Hades' responsibilities. "The value of the Brick Seas is not in its waters; still less in it's vapours. It is in the blessed dirt. We must remind people of that fact. And how better to do so than with a mausoleum of spectacle?" And, with a shrug, Gallo was forced to concede the point. Unless anyone has any objections, this mausoleum will be licensed as a medium Arts and Culture in Acropolis.

Agreed. Although... are there three of them? All Musketeers? I think the redcoats might have a harder time of it than they anticipate.
