All those cliff hangers! And Game of Thrones is ahead too. I'm going to die by heart attack. Your task on that underwater look is magnificent. It's definitely a bold move to cover the ground with transclear plates. But it works so well, that I'm glad you dared to try it. It adds something enchanted to the atmosphere. Also the background and the wonderful effect the light source in the middle has. Amazing work!

A shooting range is an excellent idea for an educational property. And its execution is wonderful aswell.

That sounds like a excellent cup! I just wonder if uniform clothes for the whole team are necessary. That's one of the very few weaknesses of the Sea Rats.

Sea Turtles, my friend But for me, the dark tan suggests that the tide changes the water stage so that it will be possible to launch the ships by flood. -

I think most shipyards so far were licenced as artisans, given the craftmanship and mostly unique appearance of each "product". A factory is more like massproducing one product under exavt same conditions. But I don't know if someone would actually mind. -
[COR - Jul FB] Jaguar Tower, Myzectlan
Jacob Nion replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Oh no! Another big cat pops up and my panther remains unused. :/ But your use is stumning! As I said about Elostirion's build, it's a bit of a challenge to arrange those cats in a build in a way that works effectively. I must say it is positioned prefectly, sneaking along the river. It's placed prominently in the foreground and its colour scheme makes it an eyecatcher. But it only distracts for a moment, because the background is wonderful. First I would like to say that I love your guys task on Meso-american influenced natives in BoBS (adressing all the Eslandiard fellows awell). That really enhances this world. I'll love to make an attempt on that of my own one day. Your tower is immediately recognizable as being inspired by these civilizations. And for me personally, it has a great resemblance to the Aztec watch towers in Age of Empires, something that makes me liking it even more. I don't want to spoil my praisings here by nitpicking, but if anything, I would suggest to include a few more weathering and torn details in the texture to flesh out the age of the structures. Of course you stated that despite its age the tower was in excellent condition, but personally I think all the overgrown plants would look more reasonable on a slightly more ruined structure. Perhaps a few cheese slope here and there instead of full bricks, as if single bricks did become loose and fell out. But that does in no way diminish the impact of the whole. With no doubt a fantastic scene.- 17 replies

Great looking ships! Your water technique would work better on the pic photographing from a deeper angle. But very good work overall. -
[SR-FB 12] Shipwreck Bay (medium fort)
Jacob Nion replied to Jacob Nion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thank you Thaum! Thank you very much! Harr harr. Aye, I will strengthen our connections, be sure about that. But I think Sea Rats will stick to their own rules. Thanks Garm! In fact I had this idea in mind for a long time now. And since I wasn't able to come up with an interesting idea for the Tortuga fort I decided to use it here. Perhaps I will reuse the shipwreck some day at a higher scale and more detailed. Maybe for a large fortress. Thanks! Great you like it. Thanks for that! Funny that you mention it; while building I was surprised how well this simple colour scheme works for a wrecked ship. I can only recommend it to people attempting to build their own Silent Mary, or wish to modify the set. Thanks captain! Haha, thanks you! Aye, it's maybe a bit fragile. But as always, pirates win their battles by fanciness rather than strength. Thank you! Thanks! Aye, I found it important to have something piratey instead of another standard fort. Thank you all very much! Thanks Patrick! Thank you two! Thank you very much for all of the absolutes It wasn't that hard of a build. In fact it was the work of one evening. Once I had place the stem the rest was assembled quickly. I just added enough planks to give it a reasonable shape. Honestly it's easier than building a complete ship, since I can leave out any complex area where one would normally struggle to build a curved shape. Thanks! -
Indeed great background- and neat mini ships! I think the use of those slopes for sales is new to me. And of course the action shots are fantastic. Good ol' ice cream balls never let you down.

Aye to @Elostirion : What distinguishes a good strategy game from a lame are the differences between the factions. Every factory requires a little different strategy. And it adds to the identity of each faction to have individual bonusses. Look at Eslandola: their members are proud of being merchants and entrepreneurs. They define themselves by trading and commerce. Corlanders are the boldest explorers. Oleon finds itself the most exalted civilization. Without specific advantages from game mechanics that all would just feel like a mere allegation without any effect.

Famous Austrian? My bet's on Schwarzenegger But really, a skull does not inevitably mean something bad or destructive. Especially in indigenous cultures it can be associated with a large variety of meanings; circle of life, fertility, or just a connection to deities. It is the crux of western thinking that we project our own interpretation of symbols on any foreign culture. On the other hand... a pirate nest just needs skulls by nature. -

Damn! I wanted to be the first one using the panther! Now I have to catch up quickly. Great scenery, the cat is integrated perfectly. The hut itself is a gem. Especially the roof is very believable.- 16 replies

Good one! Great way to use the the lore from the island description. That must be the place were the natives of the surrounding islands used to sacrifice food offers, as it was mentioned in the original island text. Also very good job on the photography. -
"Before I leave, gentlemen," Morgan said, "I am afraid I have to beg your pardon a second time. I intend to take my men with me." In an instant the Eslandolan soldiers who had arrived with the Sea Rat came to the ready, aiming their muskets at both the remaining Corlandish and Eslandolan guards aswell. Several more muskets and pistols and swords were drawn, while the officers hushed to put their ambassodors behind them. "You may understand that I couldn't dare to set foot on the heaviest guarded island of the new world without bringing a guard of my own. Master Guilder, I am spoiling for an encounter with Lord Damaximus. Don Montoya, you are welcome at any time. I assure you that there is no reason to apprehend a thing while my men are present. My relationship with Corrington is of highest importance for me. Honourable sirs, good day." With a last smile Benjamin Morgan left the Negotiation tent, noticeably pleased, his disguised men slowly following, the muskets still aimed at Corrington and Eslandola.

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Jacob Nion replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
About that whole Era II: What does that mean exactly? Despite the rule changes and everything practical, I don't have that feeling like one great period had ended and a new age would wait behind the horizon. Don't get me wrong; I don't complain about ending a chapter. That's the normal turn of a eurobricks RPG. I just have the impression I don't get what's going on. Storywise, the Eslando-Mardieran war of 616/617 (aye, that's the official term now, get used to it) didn't feel like the one climactic final of the story that marks a caesura. Well, for ingame politics it is sort of, but you may know what I mean (in other RPGs a chapter usually ends with challenging an evil wizard threatening the whole world). The only rumours we have as a motivation are those of a reported new continent somewhere. But that wasn't communicated like it was a big deal (it certainly is!). Now the only thing I read about this era II is Corrington working on a new sign up thread. I didn't even know we'll need those. I myself would love to be involved in the Sea Rat plans of something like that. So, couldn't we just have an official announcement, something like "brethren! Era II lies ahead! Get excited because it will be even more awesome because of things like [...] and [...]. Launch date roughly two months away".- 897 replies

[MRCA] The Death Of Captain Morgan
Jacob Nion replied to Jacob Nion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A ghost ship's definitely something I would love to build one day! I have some serious ideas for that. It's never a waste to own an official Captain Morgan figure! Thanks! All those details are from the original Queen Annetta's Revenge. That was the most challenging part; to reconstruct the bow and forecastle. The ship itself was disassembled for a while, so I had to look into my pictures. The only thing different is the sprit topmast. I added it to give the build more structure. And I liked the idea that Morgan had refitted his ship over time to increase its speed. Thanks mate! Ahoy! Thank you! It seems you were right with your doubts. The large spider legs appeared in different Chima sets. I have these from 70226 Mammoth's frozen stronghold. Thank you! Thanks! Gladly it was not the end. Ahoy thanks! Thank you all very much! Here you go The Queen Annetta's Revenge Aye, when the results of our game actions are out, it's upon us to depict them in bricks. -

Ahoy there @RocketSeason ! Welcome aboard! Finally reinforcement has arrived. You will be added to our pirate message group soon. Your fellow brethren will be eager to answer any questions, so you can jump right into the fun (of pillage and plunderrrr!) -
"Don Montoya" the captain began with contrived indignation in his voice: "whether it seems reasonable or not for one to question another man's honesty, it does not belittle the insult. If I was indeed not the one I claim to be...who could I be instead? Who else would have dared to march straight into your session? As for what I claim to be... you may understand that I cannot speak up for all of my kind at all times, as less as you, gentlemen, can do for every company and settlement. 'Every captain's a king on his own ship', as you may know. But as for all matters concerning the entirety of this wild bunch, I assure you that I am your most sympathetic contact." Towards Don Montoya he added: "Although my people usually preserve an aloof manner towards strangers, I am confident to arrange an exception for you- given that you are willing to forgo a significant contingent of Corlandish millitary. You will understand; since Malto moved into the centre of public attention, one might reasonably ask for some warranties. Trust is a luxury no man should share frivolous these days."

"You are indeed right, sir," Morgan said to Montoya, "that the purpose of my visit is of general nature. Not more than the wish to commend myself." "We are indeed a nation, master Guilder." he said to the resolute Eslandolan statesman. "And a nation needs representation towards other nations, we live in civilized times. In my people's and everyone's common interest, I therefore offer my humble influence for further affairs. You will see, negotiations with the Brethren of the Sea Rats will become essential for the politics in this our new world, so far from the old continent. I encourage you to see me as counterpart for such matters." He accompanied these words with the most charming smile one would expect from a young, blithely Corlandish gentleman of a certain noblesse. "And please let Lord Damaximus know that I send my kindest regards."

"I am not here for Damaximus, sir." the captain said in a serious voice. "Nor did I come to intervene in your negotiations. As you can tell, we were gentle enough to establish our fortification in this area on neutral ground. I come to you as ambassador of what you maybe consider a loose grouping of condemned individuals. Do not make this mistake. This group might be more solid than you imagine. A factor of power every nation would be well-advised to enter into its considerations." Morgan waited for the Eslandolans and Corlanders to evaluate the meaning of his words.

Captain Morgan surveyed the attendants. "I heard word the Lord Damaximus would be present. It would have pleased me to meet that man in person. He seems to bear a personal feud against me. Likely that he would have insisted to put me in irons. Unwarranted, of course, out of his very own craving for revenge. As far as I am proficient in my own case Eslandola has no charges to bring me. As for my overestimated role in the battle near this island, you will all agree that there cannot be any charge against an official combatant in possession of a letter of marque. As for my personal relation with Corrington..." he looked quizzical at Montoya: "Have I ever crossed one of your convoys? I can't remember. Be that as it may. I did not intend to steal your time for discussing personal misconducts."

"...Gentlemen!" A tall young man with wild hair and a slight grin on his face walked over to the negotiation tent, making large but slow steps, followed by several Eslandolan guards, struggling to keep track. "May I beg your pardon for my uninvited, and surely unexpected but hopefully not unwelcomed intrusion. Similar visit of an -I think- Eslandolan "guest" in my people's camp encouraged me to drop any reservation to approach this gathering of power. So allow me, gentlemen, sirs, señores to introduce myself as representative of the Brethren of the Sea Rats, Benjamin Morgan. Captain Morgan, if you like." Speaking these words he bowed both to Corlandish and Eslandian attachés.
