  1. Edit: Since the Guild Names, Colours and Stories came I out, I would change my preference to Avalonia, because it is elf paradise and uses the colours my army has.
  2. Great MOC. Is it dog poo, next to the lamp? Or is it a donut someone bought with coffee and dropped and left it? I sincerely hope it is a donut. It would give me the creeps otherwise.
  3. Ahh, my mistake. Silver is better.
  4. Elves are like an ecologically aware Switzerland! They even speak in a language only theyself understand. Seriously, great map. Lots of borders to protect for the elves. Crownies are indeed a bit industrial, with their Castles made from stone and what not. I would also agree with what Lordofthedragonss wrote about Orcs and Skeletons.
  5. I like the guy! The overall colour-scheme is beautiful and gives the fig a coherent look. Sword, helmet and shield match the scheme. 2 thoughts, not criticism, ideas merely: - a different torso might help to avoid the colour visible over his belt. Maybe some torso with metallic silver there that would match the knee armour? - The breastplate has a nice roundish shape which matches the rest well. But it is a lot of gray. I don't have a solution for this, as a light blue breastplate would be too much light blue... Maybe if you changed the colour of the arms, the amount of gray would be reduced.
  6. Here are two more pictures I liked: Filndehuv right von MWardancer Findelhuv left von MWardancer auf Flickr
  7. So great! I like the fire, the round tower, the storyline and the overall level of violence.
  8. Prince Maerendil on Findelhuv – Leaving the Beloved for Jousting in a Foreign Kingdom The forest flowers were in full bloom when Prince Maerendil had to leave. His beloved elven wife, the most precious flower of all, he had to leave under the arch where they first met. Elves – as even a child knows – do not usually partake in the jousting sport the humans invented for their leisure. But now, with the woods in the West shaking from the enemy's boots and the smoke pillars of war overshadowing the Elf Queens Kingdom, a messenger had to be sent – and this was him. Maybe winning the joust would enable him to speak to the human’s king, maybe to Bretonia’s ambassador, maybe even to the Grandmaster of Ordo Penguinius… Alliances, friendships had to be made and this – as even a child knows – can best be done in playful exhibition of a warrior’s strength and the merrymaking a joust always provides. So with a last look at his beloved and his trusted steed Findelhuv beneath him, he left home, when the forest flowers were in full bloom. Motivation: I have been raising a custom elven army during the last months which I hope I can show soon after the contest. The fig started as a heavy cavallery and then became a prince on his way to the joust. At first I thought it would be great to make 4 more of these guys afterwards to have a regiment, but it was so much work that I won’t do another one for a while. As I hope you can see I strive to maintain a somewhat ‘purist’ Lego look, making things TLG would produce if they listened to me. So besides the Brickforge helmet and the paint and glue, 100% LEGO materials are used. Customized Parts: Brickforge Viking Helmet – Wings from Lego Dwarf Helmet cut off and glued on, painted Dark Green Breastplate Armour – painted Flags on Lance – carved to half size and shortened Horse – 1x1 cheeseslope parts carved and painted, legstraps painted, 2 Elf Capes cut to fit as saddle blanket, Laces on head painted so they match the head armours colour Horse Head Armour – Painted, tip of some lego pole cut off and painted instead of the unicorn-horn Head – This is not the usual Elf head, as its eyes are too narrow for the helmet, hair painted on back. Flower blossoms – painted to fit wife’s dress (that did not turn out perfectly, I spent a ridiculous amount of time and money for this) Hunter’s Knife – shortened Katana Costs: around 11 Euro for the parts (expensive wife and base not included), around 25 Euro for paint, brushes and a black fineline edding I used for the black lines on the breastplate, this is just so much because I had to try 4 shades of blue for the flowers. It took quite a while to make him. Although I have a Warhammer past, I have no big experience in customizing Lego. Painting the horses’s legstraps and carving the cheeseslope pieces for the foot armor were the most difficult parts of the work. Every leg of the horse has a different angle, which made it difficult. All brown painted parts were additionally coated with clear paint. The second hardest part were the blue flowers. I wanted to match the wive's dress, but I couldn't. One inspiration were these Warhammer riders: Warhammer Wood Elf Riders @Mods: If an Elf is not human enough, as the rules for the competition demand, let me know. Then I’ll give him a different background story. In my opinion, Elves are pretty humanoid. This one has a human grandmother, which makes him 1/8 human.
  9. Very beautiful. The trees are amazing and so is the overall atmosphere. Also I like that the ground under the swing has a sandy color.
  10. Kids usually practice that in christmas time, when presents are stacked under the tree and their content needs be felt weeks before.
  11. Ouhh, I feel the elven shield would be a great stimulus to me
  12. Agreed. As someone who got around 50 elves from the 5 stores in my city, I enjoyed the hunt. I prefer the dot codes to fingering though. Why is a kid treated different than an AFOL? They enjoy LEGO, so do I, maybe even more. I used the dot codes and so can they.
  13. It just came to my mind that if a map were made of Lego historic kingdoms, this could end in a physical map and profit to me made that could be used for contests or other useful projects. If someone designed a map that looks professional and does not change more often than say every six months, it would be beautiful to print it professionally and sell it for cheap to euribricks members. The money raised could be used for contests or given partly to the designer of the map, who could in turn redo it every few months. I am sure many AFOLS would love a physical map to show where their faction lives etc. I am thinking of maps in a style like this: In a related matter, I am not sure about a grand narrative about the factions living on the map. I imagine it kind of hard to reach consent about such a story. Also it would limit the ever-changing character of lego historic kingdoms. As in real life, I would prefer a map in which fragments of histories,counter-histories, myths, single events etc. could be placed instead of one binding history.
  14. I like the overall color scheme, collar and the shoulder pads! Maybe cleaner lines could be achieved by using tape, painting over and then removing the tape.
  15. Sounds good, how about combining this with a big map where all factions and mocs can be situated. Like on of these LOTR-Maps or in Warhammer Campaigns. One could could go "Oh, today, let's see what happened at the border between Crownies and and Orks in the last 2 years." And then you all mocs that users have situated there would be marked by little X-ses. It an area of the map was underpopulated, contests could work towards vignettes or scenarios in that area. Someone would have to program this though.
  16. I am not sure how worthy my plans are, but since you asked what is to come, I might as well tell. As I have mentioned in a few threads, I am focussing on making an wood elven faction. I wanted to release that weeks ago but the minifig customization contest made me delay this as I want to partipate. I have seen elves in many mocs and customs, but I have not seen someone making them into a full-blown faction. Elves are something that many AFOLs love, as the interest in Kingdoms Joust's Princess has shown. A first step is to focus on figs and smaller MOCs. That's what I've been doing the last months. 4 different kinds of regiments, 3 special characters, 3 magical creatures and 2 mythical creatures and a long list of ideas I have so far, many customized, some not. Future plans involve many more types of all these, also war machinery. As as next step, these will need homes, trees, homes in trees, bridges, dioramas. After that, they will go to war against my already outnumbered crownies. Parts of that will happen in the history forum, some of it might belong in the customization forum. At first I thought I might make a blog for this, but Eurobricks gives me all the infrastructure I need. I hope not only to show some of my works, but also bring elves back into discussion and hopefully bundle some of the ideas that float around. If a Lord of the Rings Theme is introduced next year, which we all hope, my army will join whatever comes the way... I am quite new on this forum, so not many MOCs I made are known. One fig I will send to the joust contest this week, which might give a first impression of my plan. Edit: Apparantly, the question was not aiming at our personal plans, but more on a conceptual level. Anyway, I'll leave this here.
  17. Good thread! As someone who is also eagerly waiting for the elven princess I have give it a thought, too. Here's my idea: In my opinion, not all elves need to be blond. I own about 50 elves and it looks a bit dull when they all have the same hair colour. The colour of Elisabet Swanns hairpiece is some half tone between blond and red, as the regular elf hair is not bright blond either, so they go well together in their "flax"-look. Also I think the reddish tone will complement the green dress of the elven princess, as green and red are complementary colours.
  18. I am preparing something for category 3.
  19. I like the bear best. But I cannot shake the impression that 1 single wild animal in a forest theme is not enough. Have all other animals become extinct in a realistic "city" theme. How about a racoon scavenging for food in the recycle bins? A wolf threatening some campers? A fawn or deer or stag that can be fed by joggers or run over by a car?
  20. The hi-res reveals that the aztec's medallion is another lego head. I know why red riding hoods eyes are so big. In the story there is the "'Grandmother, Grandmother, why do you have such big eyes?' 'So I can see you better.'"-part, in which the wolf disguises himself as grandmother. The conclusion therefore is as inescapable as it is moronic: It is not a red riding hood minifigure, but a bad wolf disguised as red riding hood, who has already eaten both the poor grandmother AND the original red riding hood. What a sick twist!
  21. I am also very amazed. That's 4 army builders: Aztec, Valkyrie, Knight and Space Marine. Some thoughts: - Great to get the Bride for 2,50 Eu as I am marrying next year. - Although I love the idea of the aztec, I fell it is too much gold on him. The spear elaborate for example ist maybe too much. I love the helm though, it has gem stones in it. - Was a new flower piece really necessary? - Ocean King's crown consists of seashells. - As I am craving for female warriors, I am happy about the valkyrie. Bu i am a bit sad that her hair will be linked to the horn helmet, which limits its use. Elves don't wear horns. I guess that means cutting and glueing then... - The read hood will make good kingdoms guards or wizards. - Too bad the picture hides both the aztec and the knight's shield. - What's going on with TLG and evil berserk warriors. First the chaos dwarf and now a bloodthirsty black knight (Kingdom jousts Black Knight's evil brother?) I guess I will focus on valkyries and brides.
  22. I especially like your usage of the gray horse. By giving it the head armour you covered its blinders and turned it from a work horse into a war horse.
  23. Does this mean the horse is not taken into consideration whatsoever? This suprises me, with knight and horse being one unit aesthetically especially in a jousting context. Most knights even look a bit odd with long lance and thick armour without a horse. (Sorry, I don't wanna be a smartass, I am just curious. I am quite new to this contesting.)
  24. Thanks for Category C, I am very excited to partipate. One question: Can I use a waterslide transfer from Games Workshop? It's a small rune. If I can't, it's ok, but I wouldn't want to be disqualified because of this.
  25. I was astonished that there is no kingdoms advent calendar this year. Is the a sign for the end of Kingdoms?
