  1. This looks amazing! Makes excellent use of a lot of new parts; I'm already a little tempted to get a second one as a parts pack.
  2. That's referring to the date they put the picture on the site.
  3. Not gonna lie, this was yet another submission that made me think, "Cool MOC bro, now put it on Flickr and leave Ideas to the stuff that might actually get produced." It does look great though, so hopefully the final set won't have to stray too far from the submission. I keep telling myself not to get any beach-themed sets because then I'll be tempted to build a whole new section of my LEGO town around them, but there are some good ones coming up and I don't know if I can hold out much longer!
  4. I guess the Joker lowrider set the bar too high, but I was really expecting these to have a more overtly goofy aesthetic. Aside from some of the minifig designs, they look like "standard" Batman sets - not a bad thing by any means, I was just hoping for some LEGO Movie-style wackiness. Maybe we'll see that with some of the villain vehicles yet to be revealed. I do think this is the best-looking Arkham to date though.
  5. Hey, remember last year when everyone thought this year's modular wasn't coming out until April? That's because D2C sets are available through other online retailers three months after the official release, meaning some sources will show a release date three months later. So just to clear up any confusion, here's a release date even the backwards-talkers can agree on: 1/1.
  6. I vote that it is legitimate. Because of reasons.
  7. I am, let's say... 97% certain the release date is actually January 1st. Online retailers other than LEGO are allowed to sell D2Cs starting three months after official release, so if one of those retailers is the source of this news, the date would be April 1st as far as they were concerned. If I recall correctly, there was similar confusion about the Firehouse Headquarters release date around this time last year.
  8. Preeeetty sure that killer whale is a reference to something else entirely and has nothing to do with the modular.
  9. Well, there's only so much space and time to allocate to producing new products, most of which is planned out a year or more in advance. Ideas sets don't have the luxury of that much lead time - they may seem like they take forever to hit the shelves since we're aware of them from the very beginning, but they're on an accelerated timeline relative to most sets - so they're more dependent on how much "wiggle room" there is in the production schedule. There's also the issue of unpredictability that comes from 1) fans being heavily involved in the selection process, and 2) Ideas sets covering such a broad base of themes/demographics that it's probably hard to apply many of the same lessons from one to the next. So all told I could see how it would take a while to be certain enough of a good return on investment to want to go bigger. Something in the 2000-3000 piece range may well happen eventually, I just think they'd want to baby-step to it.
  10. Nope. Some Batman variants, mostly other characters.
  11. I think the "crystal creatures" might be some sort of sentient Kryptonite, which could be a really fun Silver Age-y concept.
  12. Mmmm, II doubt it. Assuming the usual pattern holds, the next corner won't be until 2019.
  13. Well, they are gradually stepping things up in terms of size/piece count. I think the increase is bound to be gradual no matter how successful the line is overall because of the intrinsic risks of the platform.
  14. No, it's 20 figures, but not all of them are Batman variants. So Catman could show up in there (and I sincerely hope he does).
  15. I hope it's a 318 connection; the piece looks too big to be held securely with the smaller pin.
  16. They are for whoever wants them. Perhaps this will help.
  17. Yeah, frankly I'm most surprised that Marina City isn't in there, and I'm disappointed but not surprised that there aren't any original Chicago School buildings like Monadnock or Chicago Savings Bank. But I knew there was never any way I'd be completely satisfied with the set unless it consisted of about two dozen different buildings. At least a red box will make for a nice color contrast, I guess?
  18. There's plenty of stuff yet to be revealed, folks - just because you haven't seen something yet doesn't mean it's been cancelled.
  19. If you look at the Batgirl figure in the Dimensions pack compared to the one shown with the Joker's lowrider, her hair appears to be in two different positions. So her hair is likely a separate piece plugged into the back of her cowl.
  20. This is delightful. Can't wait to see the submarine itself!
  21. Hmm... yeah, I suppose you could pull this off with a Scurrier mold.
  22. Are you talking about the hat that eventually showed up on the Prospector CMF, or was there a different one?
  23. "Second place is the first loser. Sad!"
  24. None of these sets have counterparts from one year ago. Their counterparts are from two years ago, because they alternate every other year. Even then... yeah, I think I mostly prefer 2014's figures, with the exception of this year's vampire, which I like a lot more than the 2014 bat.
