An illuminated UCS Falcon engine What could be better? (apart from an illuminated UCS Falcon engine via Technic LEDs ). I'm going to modify mine one day but I need 3 more sets of Technic LEDs and a load of 2 x 3 trans clear.

Thanks ACPin for the photo, really appreciated. I can now sleep safely without the fear of seeing a chrome ewok! Anyway, that's the last I'll say about it, until another rumour appears He looks soo cute!! I can't wait to get one; I'm going to take a day off on the 4th to make sure that I don't miss it. Last year the UK ran out of the ARF troopers really quickly (due to an error in the ordering system which added one to any order above £50! - I think that the technical term used at the time was 'Doh!'). As I'd spent £250 on a UCS shuttle and didn't receive one with my order, and that I'd seen Lego were actually selling surplus ones in the US, I emailed Customer Services about it. All credit to Lego, a couple of weeks later one arrived in the post Would it be a good idea to modify this thread to a 'what are you going to buy so that you can get the cute TC-14 that ACPin found for us?'
-
Excellent work Moodswim! Great use of parts, especially his ears! I did debate adding a slotted Jar-Jar to my Episode I CB, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy one! This is just as I dreamed it would be...with the (usual) lack of comprehension on his face!

And this is from someone who i) had 'annoying' as a name tag until very recently ii) seems to make a lot of very consise posts that really don't say a great deal and iii) aren't often related to the topic... Back on topic & being a little more serious, do you have to meet certain criteria before you can become a moderator, or do you wait to be 'invited'?

Excellent news! Actually, either C-3PO or TC-14 would be fine. Infact, and to be honest, I'd be happy withing anything other than a chromed ewok !!

Hi Kim, good to see that you'll still be around on EB. It's all been a bit quiet without you & fallenangel I hope that it all goes well for you at Lego, they must be an amazing company to work for (they have the best Customer Services of any company that I've ever dealt with and the staff always sound so happy!).

It's starting to look really nice BobBong1895, and thanks for the regular updates It will be interesting to see what the eventual cost is compared to the average Ebay second-hand rate (approx £750-£800). I've been inspired by this thread to 'Bricklink' the UCS Death Star II (10143) and placed my first order last night! I've wanted one for a while, but at £500+ for a MISB version I couldn't really justify it. It doesn't seem to have any rare parts (unlike the Falcon) so it should be fairy cheap to build....! Anyway, keep up the good work, it will look amazing when you've finished it

Great work wokajablocka Instantly recognisable, and all the more impressive considering that you had a limited amount of bricks available. I've never tried building a mosaic, but it must have taken a lot of time! Cheers, Robin

I've just found it on the Lego website: link here Release date is the 1st May..we might just get a chrome R2 as a promo! (certainly a better idea than a chrome ewok!! )

As soon as I saw this thread I knew that it would start a heated debate! The UCS X-wing and Star Destroyer are both beautiful, but could undoubtedly be improved with the addition of new parts and/or a re-design in my opinion. In particular, the Star Destroyer's 'stability issues' (due to the use of magnets) could be corrected by using the same method employed in the Executor. Personally, I'd be pleased to see any re-makes or re-releases, but can understand why some don't. I just want Lego to keep selling UCS sets (preferably OT!!)

I purchased this for my nephew for his birthday & he loved it! I'll admit that it does look quite nice, and it's quite a lot bigger than I expected. However, the UK RRP (£29.99) is way above what it's worth (I grabbed one for him during the pre-christmas sales @ 50% off, which was far better! ). Not a bad set, but not for me.
-
It's too small & narrow to fit well and it would look rubbish, as demonstrated by Han! : And, anyway, you don't want to upset Aeroeza with that thought!!
-
Sorry, I was a bit slow on the uptake! I'm more than happy to add to the discussion if it helps.... Great work BobBongo, it's starting to take shape nicely I've built a falcon twice and, if it helps at all, you've done the hardest part. The docking rings and panels around these sections look beautiful when they're done so please don't give up as it will be worth it!!

That's an impressive collection of Sandpeople/Tusken Raiders that you have there! I love the Banthas
-
Amaxon (UK) currently have 7965 - Millennium Falcon at £94.99 (29% off): (link here) As usual you might need to be quick

I've had a really long day, but I think that you are possibly missing a key word or two in that sentence....! Anyway, back on topic: This is getting quite interesting, BobBongo Firstly, I'm in awe of anyone who has the determination to build one of these via the 'Blicklink' route. It's hard enough to build it even when everything is supplied in one large box, let alone sourcing all of them! I'll admit that I was a little sceptical of the use of 'old' and 'new' grey when I saw the first photos, but they're starting to blend together rather well. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Robin

I hate to say this, but I feel obliged to.....not really, there were only two at any one time, not sixth!! Ok, I'm really sorry about that - it won't happen again

Like everyone else, I’m really sorry to hear that you’re leaving us You’ve done a cracking job as a Moderator, even though it must have been very difficult at times. Best wishes for the future, I’m sure you’ll love working for TLG!

Totally amazing (as usual!) ACPin I love your attention to detail, there must be a lot of parts in this! How did you manage to create the curved walls; do you have special parts for this? Cheers, Robin
-
Very nice work Walt It's interesting to see how you did this; in hindsight I should have used more dark grey in mine as yours looks much nicer! I especially like the 'skeleton' droid on the left wall and the shop counter - I found it really difficult to re-create this. All you need now is to add a few Technic LEDs Cheers, Robin

Thanks for the photos GRogall! R2-D2 looks great, lots of nice details, and the box art is beautiful (apart from Darth Maul). I assume that it will be released around the 4th May, so at least we should get free postage (and maybe a chrome ewok ) as a little bonus!
-
Now that seems far more likely than a chrome ewok!! Logical reasons not to as follows: i) I've never seen an armoured ewok (even in the numerous 're-mastered' versions of ROTJ!!) ii) Ewoks would be difficult to chrome (think of the fur, it's almost bordering on cruelty, but thinking about it they are ewoks after all so it wouldn't be soo bad......) iii) Stability of the chrome & wear issues on rounded (fat) body iv) They're rubbish & there's so many better options....TC-14, R2-D2, Hoth Stormtrooper, Emperor, Emperor's Guard etc

I'm really impressed by this a definite purchase for me when it's available. I'm surprised by some of the (underwhelmed) reactions; it's accurate, a decent size, the third leg is a nice addition (without being gimmicky - like the bridge in 10221!!) and £150 seems very reasonable. Not too sure about the circular saw though, I'd prefer a periscope, but I'm an ESB fan so I'm biased
-
Excellent work cavegod, as usual! I'm surprised that you can dye bricks, but it clearly works well. Did you use white bricks or does it work with other colours as well? I've been really looking forward to see the inside, any chance of a sneak preview?

Having seen LDD StoutFile's version of Cloud City I thought that it might be fun to try & create a 'modular' design (and it will hopefully end up considerably smaller & less expensive than my original plan!) so I've started again from scratch. I've updated the first post with a new photo of the carbonite chamber; I'll add some more of this section tomorrow although it's still a WIP. I'm quite pleased with this so far although I'm debating re-building it in black, and using trans-orange rather than trans-neon orange; ideas, C & C welcome!
