I agree with the Brickster. It really is too early to call, but I voted for Brickbeard's Bounty, Cannon Battle and the Imperial impulse because I want to build up an army and the review and images on the ship look really cool plus I will need cannons for Brickbeard's Bounty. But I really shouldn't make that decision until I have the new sets.

I checked the .au (Australian) website, and not only is there no information on 2009 LEGO pirates, but there is no information on any of their products. www.toysrus.com.au is without doubt the worst website ever.

Imperial all the way! If we are talking if we were a minifig that is. In real life robably a pirate, because the conditions were crap regardless of your position and a good and short life would have been better. But if I was a minifig, I would choose imperial.

Well, that largely depends on weather or not you choose to take photogarphs from the back. It is allowed so long as you are using official LEGO bricks, but it just depends on where you take your pictures from.

Great review so far! I'll let you know what I think of the set in full when the review is done. But do those cannons have to face down on an angle so much? And WHERE DID YOU AQUIRE THAT SET FROM! You best tell, me or I will come and interrigate you. After all, Canberra is only a short drive away...
