LEGO exhibition opens in Seoul, South Korea

Love the Imperial Inspection. Impressive! -
I built 2 sets in the past 3 days. 41999 took me two full days (I was at work, LOL), 9396 took me one full day. It was really enjoyable taking my time building these 2 awesome sets. I made a couple mistakes here and there, but it was really fun hunting down the parts in 2 large trays for the large items, while I leave the pins in their small bags. I guessing the mobile crane will take me 3 days at least!

I wouldn't do that if I were you. With the new generation of Technic boxes, if you cut the tape carefully and open the box slightly, the gap should be big enough for you to pour out the content w/o opening and damaging the box. I just did it this morning with my 9396 Helicopter box. Looks brand new still.

So I managed to put a 2nd set of lights in the boss. Problems is my old ones have a yellow shade instead of bring white shade of lighting. Plus, it only turns on when I operate the wench. Bah, I took it off.

This is pretty off topic, but at the same time it has to do with the 41999. So there are 2 places to tie the string for the wench on this monster, at the spool and on the hook. I've discovered the fishing knots work really well for this application. http://www.netknots.com/fishing_knots/ I use arbor knot for the spool and centauri knot for the hook. Looks really nice. Try it out! Bowline knot is another favorite of mine.

Wish I got the ironman poly bag, thats a nice set. Looking forward to getting the mini vw t1 camper next month though!

So I started building the boss this morning. I must be the slowest builder ever, or I'm just taking my sweet time, 'cause I'm only on book 3. LOL! I tested the wench with my key chain, it's hilarious!

LEGO Ride on Train

I was thinking, OMG, what is that dude doing, he's gonna break the train! But then he started the train, and I was like, OMG it's going so fast! -
I keep reading about how the Orthanc is show piece, but personally I feel like it's just a big black column, there's nothing special about it... For the wow factor, I'd go with the Ewok Village with its expansive layout with the tree houses and walkways. And it has 15 minifigs!

I don't know if other countries have this incentive, but for US LEGO shoppers, online or in store, when your purchase reaches a certain amount, you will get a free small LEGO set in a bag. This is the polybag everybody's talking about. The problem with the polybag in this case is that it's packaged together with the fancy 41999 box, which due to the weight of the box sitting on the hard edge of LEGO bricks in the poloy, creates indentation on the surface of the 41999 during transit to the buyer.

Former SAP exec's scheme to get LEGO for cheap
FuzzyBallz replied to Mike S's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's a mental sickness. Just like some rich people tip like crap. Some people just like to steal, it gives them the rush they can't get from anywhere else. -
I see. I thought the setup look familiar when I got my eyes on it the 1st time. I have the 8043 as well. That's a good look model!

They placed the hotdog cart polybag on the corner underneath the 41999. There's visible indentation on the box. I just went meh, not really a box guy unless the box looks like it got chewed up by a wild dog. The content inside the box is packed to the edges! Glorious!

That's what I'm thinking as well. I'll get the VW T1 Camper + Minecraft 21102 in September, then the other 2 Minecraft sets in October! This is a tricky one. On the one hand, LEGO makes a new version of the x-wing every few years, while they've only made 1 b-wing. In fact, the b-wing is so unpopular, you can get it with 25% off at a lot of places. In terms of visual appeal, the new UCS x-wings trumps the UCS b-wing hands down. If it were up to me, I would still get the UCS x-wing despite knowing they'll come up with an updated version in the future.

You're a good man Jurgen. I look forward to your enhancements for the 42009. I normally don't do mods to my sets, but I might make the exception this time! The superstructure begs to be motorized and RC!

Update: Ordered 10 minutes after the item went live on S@H on West Coast of US, around 8:40 PM I think. I got 1493! Can't wait to build this tonight!

Ok you guys I got a tough one and need your help. Here's the scenario. There are 2 items (well, I clump a set into 1 item) I want to get for September, VW T1 Camper Van (10220) and the 3 Minecraft sets (21102, 21105, 21106) . The VW T1 Van has been out since October 2011, it's been on the shelf for 2 years. I have a feeling it will be retired soon, because 2 years is a very long time. Some models don't even last a year. Minecraft sets are super popular, and with the release of 2 new sets in September, I predicting another shortage in supply. They're both great looking display pieces and I don't wanna miss out on them when they're still available, especially the VW T1 Van. An option I can do is get the current Minecraft set plus the VW T1 Van on September 1st, then order the 2 new Minecraft sets in October, as I don't see them retiring any time soon, at least not this year anyway. Ps. I'm also planning on getting the 42008 Tow Truck sometime this year as well.
