LEGO Ideas Discussion
Friscorays replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
They already have: "Update - 30/04/2020 Following a thorough review of the submission SONY WALKMAN TPS-L2 1:1 by Patrick60 we have made the difficult decision to remove this submission from the contest, as we have determined that it does not sufficiently stand apart as an original design. While we highly encourage members to inspire others and be inspired by the community, we are not able to approve the submission of designs that lend too heavily from other LEGO designs - be that official models or fan creations. The decision has been made taking into consideration that when basing one’s creations on an object that exists in the real world then some similarities may certainly occur, especially when building at the same scale too with a limited variety of LEGO bricks/available techniques. However, in this case, we have determined, on a building technique and element use level, that the submission didn’t differ enough even though everyone is free to create their own versions of the same real-world object. As a result of this, you may or may not have noticed that this ‘Top 10’ has shrunk to a ‘Top 9’, which we will continue the fan vote with. We will not be re-setting the fan vote and we will not be adding a 10th submission to the fan vote. Members who have already voted for the SONY WALKMAN TPS-L2 1:1 will have their vote returned to them in the coming days, so that they can vote again. We want to thank the community for helping to bring this to our attention. It’s difficult to know absolutely every LEGO fan creation in the world, and we’re thankful that we have a community who are so knowledgeable and passionate." https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/a4ae09b6-0d4c-4307-9da8-3ee9f3d368d6/post/e9e21526-4c72-4c2a-b363-13fd125cb22c -

If you are asking about the sets whose photos were recently released, LEGO USA is currently listing them as available on August 1.

If true there should be no controversy in the appropriate response: the entry should be disqualified. -

259.99 CAD to be precise. https://www.lego.com/en-ca/product/a-wing-starfighter-75275 -
It really hasn't.

The person who designed it said as much in regards to both of your concerns. In fact, he actually went out of his way in the video that he produced to specifically point out that bridge was 3 studs too wide on each side and four studs too tall (at the 2 minute 18 second mark of linked video). Still, I think it is unquestionably quite an achievement in Lego design.

I've seen estimates in the $2500 range.

Photo provided by Lego, and posted in included quote by parsom, does show a sideview mirror on the actual car. I don't know why the set designer decided to omit that detail....

Don't know what Lego designers will do with the interior but the Lego Ideas submission shows and describes some of the interior features. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/15ab26fc-149b-4d80-8000-aecac4d0f4cf

North America has football and soccer. The remainder of the world pretty much has football. Manchester United plays football in Old Trafford, a football stadium. -

Latter post seemed unnecessarily harsh at the time, and hasn't improved with age. Thank you for what proved to be solid info kiwinewt! -

I believe you are referring to Bender, who could simply not be included if Lego finds the antisocial characteristics of a fictional animated robot to be problematic for impressionable children (who clearly aren't the targeted customer base for this set). I will consider it a crime against humanity if the set doesn't make it to production and as such willl accept a crew limited to Fry and Leela if need be. -

Not sure any need to be sceptical. Same price, minus a penny, posted three pages ago.... -

The designers of the Planet Express submission stated that they were working on minifigures. For example when asked about minifigures in the comments section they said "We hope to finish them soon! Gabriele is working on the head moulds, but they take a lot of time to 3D model." The submission simply achieved 10k support before they were able to finish the figures. I think it is a very safe bet that if the set makes it into production, it will include a crew to populate the interior: Fry, Leela and Bender. -

It will need to be a pretty big museum unless you are going to display the Fossils outdoors. 32 x 32 baseplate is just over 10 inches. T Rex is 15.4 inches long (and nearly 7 inches tall) and Triceretops is 10.6 inches long.
