Mixed feelings on this Arkham Asylum. There’s a part of me that feels like there’s not enough Gothic architecture used in the facade of the building, none of the stained glass or the such. Also idk if it was just me but I felt like the Minecraft leak felt a bit taller than the actual set, so this set actually being shorter and more compact also disappointed and it’s didn’t feel as imposing as I thought it would. But after living with it a couple days and letting my expectations subside, it’s starting to grow on me and I’m sure the interior will be killer as well. Just wish we got Nightwing and Gordon instead of Batwing and Batwoman. I do really dig The Riddler, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman, my favorite iterations of each respective character. And I dig the minifig forms of Croc and Bane, never liked the Big Fig versions maybe because I grew up with them in the 2006 Batman line and got accustomed with them as minifigs.

Is there a chance that the Hospital Wing would be Chamber of Secrets themed and come with all Pomfrey and all the petrified victims (Hermoine, Colin Creevey, Justin Finch Fletchley, maybe Ms. Norris) so it can not eat into the minifig count of a potential Viaduct/Chamber of Secrets set?

The Lord can take me now and I will rest easy knowing full well that a Lovegood House is finally becoming Lego set! Minifigure potential is great here, Xenophilius and Deathly Hallows Ron for the first time, Death Eater variants, cool building. Fingers crossed for a play function like the Temple of Airjitzu one where you can recreate the story of the Three Brothers, but I’m not counting on it.

Just finished building the Main Tower and I’m utterly in love with it, it maybe my new favorite Harry Potter set of all time. It’s just perfect from top to bottom.

MTT is easily and by far the best set here, build is good and the figs are great. Buildable Ewok is fire as a ROTJ stan, I would love to own it one day. Maybe I’m spoiled by the UCS Jango Fett but that this one doesn’t do it for me. Yay for Lama Su. V 19 is fine just not a set I care for. As for the Turbo Tank… I don’t want to hear anyone complain about the 2016 one ever again cause this one is abomination. Bacara and Galactic Marines are cool but a $160 for that is an insult. -
As someone whose been collecting Lego Harry Potter since the beginning of the line, while I do have a special place in my heart for the 2018 Great Hall the 2025 Great Hall and this new Hogwarts system dwarf it. Don’t get me wrong it was hype following the reveal of the Great Hall 2018 at NYTF and the return of theme, it was a groundbreaking set because it was the first time a set was dedicated to a specific location within Hogwarts and re introduced the modular system. But as gorgeous as it was in on the outside, the inside had so much wasted space especially in regards to the tower, it was practically barren. Where for $70 more (the 2018 Great Hall adjusted for inflation is $130), you get a bigger hall, you get a big fig in the Troll, an extra minifigure, the girls bathroom, the Hufflepuff Common Room and the entire rock base below it. It’s a far beefier model overall and bigger model and for the $70 difference I think I got to give it to the 2025 Great Hall. The 2018 line was a great Hogwarts modular line, it was a relatively cheap to get all the individual pieces but it wasn’t the definitive Hogwarts that this is shaping up to be.

5 days out from the release of the June sets and still no reviews is crazy work.
-
Wonder when reviews for the Summer Wave will drop, I want to see The Main Tower in the flesh

Couldn’t they technically put the Room of Requirement in the dungeon since it can move around anywhere?

I guess what I’m saying for me at least is that the most essential parts of the Hogwarts castle is the first two movies, mainly the climax action scenes with the Chamber of Secrets and The Challenges. We haven’t had a Hogwarts system that includes both pivotal moments in the same system since the inception of the theme. So if we get both of those in this new Hogwarts system, I’ll be ecstatic. But if they decide to do more from the other movies, I’ll definitely won’t say no, I’m all for it. Especially an Umbridge’s Office and a Lupin DADA classroom.
-
I actually agree with a lot of things you said. The first two are the most iconic and beloved because of how whimsical and bright they are, Chamber of Secrets is my favorite of the entire series. And me personally I wouldn’t mind just a Philosophers Stone/Chamber of Secrets exclusive castle, I still think the original castle interior from back in 2001/2002 is my favorite for that reason. But personal preference aside, I don’t see them doing the most detailed Hogwarts ever and only covering a fourth of the movies, especially when the last two lines spanned multiple films. But we will see soon enough hopefully.
-
Yeah the 2018 Hogwarts was a part of a 3 year plan according to the designers and the fan demand would decide if the theme would stay or if it would be retired and the theme proved to sell well. Now the design team knows HP is popular I personally think that this most detailed Hogwarts line will be here for a couple more years if not more. I don’t think they would do two waves focused sorely on the Philosophers Stone if they were in a rush to have a complete castle by the end of the third year cycle. It’s crazy you can now recreate every single major scene in that book/film with the sets presently on the shelf. And with potentially a Viaduct Entrance set to round out the missing scenes from Chamber of Secrets, that too will soon be complete. The 20th anniversary Hogwarts imo was something they didn’t plan to happen and was thrown together to the newfound success of the theme, hence why you have a very thrown together final product, initially with a focus on interiors then reverting to more exterior focused sets to form a coherent Hogwarts from the outside.

Idk if it’s me but I actually prefer the look of the Astronomy Tower being shorter than the Main Tower even if it’s not accurate to the movie or lore, so I’d be cool with a shorter Astronomy Tower. Still tall enough to recreate a particular scene tho…

Man seeing the lifestyle video of the Great Hall and Main Tower put together, it’s a massive display!
-
10/10 absolute cinema is the rating I give the Main Tower for the Pajama Neville alone, they gave him the teddy print and there’s actually standing room in front of the Mirror of Erised this time!

So now that makes two sets where I want the minifigures but couldn’t care less for the build. Both the Clone Turbo Tank and the MTT have these long desired mini figures in Bly, Galactic Marines, and Bacara but with undesired builds. So frustrating… -
It has all the tasks, the common room, the staircase, and Dumbledore’s Office? Count me in baby! This is what I wanted from Lego along and it’s nice to see it finally happening. Fingers crossed for Chamber next year.
-
No way they are finally gonna make me splurge on the new Hogwarts because if Neville in Pajamas, I’m so excited we are getting that new minifig
-
The set that features the Ron and Harry are from the Hogwarts Express Book Nook. The Grand Staircase Tower will include at the very least the challenges in some form, may not be all of them but maybe a couple of them. The last time we got all the challenges in one Hogwarts system was the original 2001/2002 castle. Given how the 2018 grey roof Great Hall included just the Mirror of Erised and the 2021 green roof Fluffy’s Encounter included just the trapdoor and devil’s snare, without touching The Room of Winged Keys or Wizards Chess that’s actually inside the castle, I’m guessing we will only get a couple of them. And considering there will more than likely be a Dumbledore’s Office and Staircase of some sort, I don’t think there will be room for all of them, though I hope I’m proven wrong cause having all of them would actually make me pickup this new castle line. So I’m guessing Mirror of Erised at the very least since Harry has the Stone, maybe Room of Winged Keys because Hermoine has a key, and the Chess Game.
-
We have leaks of new minifigures, most noticeable a Professor Kettleburn and Harry Potter with The Philosopher’s Stone (Philosopher Stone Trials???)
-
Personally I hope and I think Shrieking Shack is left out of this D2C, that location is popular enough on its own to justify a remake and is a huge part of the climax of Prisoner of Azkaban, much like Gringotts being able to be its own set. The Hogsmeade Station is still on shelves. So I’m hoping for Hogs Head, Honey Dukes, Three Broomsticks, Zonkos and two more of the obscure shops even if it’s just a small slice of each. I want to say it’ll be $350 but with Lego’s pricing of late wouldn’t be surprised by $400
-
So we officially have the D2C Hogsmeade Village confirmed with a piece count of 3228 with it releasing in September.
-
For me I have loss interest in the theme because I have felt that everything I could possibly and feasibly want from the movies/books has already been made and the remakes while cool (I actually really like the new 4 Privet Drive set) are a no go from me, I’m one and done unless it’s a major improvement. The last full wave I bought was in 2022, having bought every single wave outright since the return of the theme in 2018. From 2023 onwards, I bought a set here and there. 2023 Black Lake & Gringotts, 2024 Durmstrang Ship, 2025 Dueling Club and maybe I’ll get Malfoy Manor on discount. If they make a Lovegood House or Inferi Cave I’ll pick those up but beyond that, there’s nothing that interests me personally. But I do think Lego Harry Potter’s sales are largely attributed to those outside the AFOL community hence why the sales are still strong, kids will intermingle the various castle sections despite them being from different systems, myself not so much I’d rather have one uniform Hogwarts.
