I really don’t get the minifigs complaint myself, I think we got most of the essentials. Could we got an Arthur and a couple of random shoppers, sure but you can always make the shoppers yourself. I think the only thing that they could of done better is with the trio having their respective sweaters under their cloaks like Hermoine’s blue sweater. But the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw Quidditch uniforms and the PS Harry definitely make up for it imo, they could have just given us Slytherin and Gryffindor robes but I’m happy they went out of their way. And that Lockhart minifig is the bomb.

GARINDAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
If we’re comparing Diagon Alley and Mos Eisley Cantina without looking at the interiors so far, I think they are both great sets for different reasons. On the exterior, DA has it beat with all the fun colors compared to the browns and tans. However, what’s really tempting me to buy this set is the minifig selection which imo the Cantina has DA beat. All those molds for the aliens such as Ponda Baba, Garidan, Ithorian, and the Bith musicians are incredible. Always been a sucker for the MBS sets because they introduce a bunch of rare minifigs like Betrayal At Cloud City had those Cloud Car Pilots, Bespin Luke, Bespin Lando etc. If it wasn’t for them, I would probably be able to pass this. The other comparison is price, I think $350 for Mos Eisley is decent though it seems a tad small, where Diagon Alley is a monster of a $400 set. If I was short on money I’d buy Diagon Alley first but I need something to open Christmas still so I’m getting the Cantina regardless.

Just got back from the LEGO store. I went promptly when the website said the mall was open, but I think the hours were inaccurate as there was a line about 10 people ahead of me. Luckily there was plenty of stock, and everyone in line got one including myself. Talked to a bunch of folks there, it was an awesome experience. Usually hate waiting in lines but it was a lot of fun and the set looks incredible on the shelf display, you really have to see in person to believe it. Box is deceptively heavy. Feels good to finally emerge from quarantine, gotta enjoy those last gasps of fresh air before the impending spike coming with Winter. Haven’t felt this happy in a long time.

I’ve been binge watching all the reviews today, and I’m thinking to myself this probably the greatest set of all time, the only one that comes close is the Ewok Village. I own a lot of sets that others have said were the best like Ninjago City and UCS MF, but this just on another level or awesomeness. Like this set is everything I expect from a lego set, great on display but still a great play set with great minifigs because it’s still a toy at the end of the day. Like wow and to think we’re probably getting Gringott’s next year...it’s amazing. I was going to pick it up tomorrow and save it till Christmas to build it but now I just want to tear into this beast.
-
Anybody else binge watching the films before picking up Diagon Alley to further hype themselves up?
-
Personally I don’t believe that Diagon Alley will be as popular as the Falcon. LEGO and Star Wars are like bread and butter where LEGO and Harry Potter don’t intersect nearly as much. Will it sell out on Day 1? Probably but I don’t think we are going to see month long shortages. I’d wager it would run similar to Pirates of Barracuda Bay, sell out Day 1 but eventually come back to normal by October. Me I like to stay on safe side and I’m going straight to my closest LEGO store once they open on 9/1. Buying sets in person is so much more fun than online.

Call me naive but usually I personally try to believe most leakers unless it’s something completely outlandish like that one year’s fake list where we were supposed to be getting a Chambers of Secret and Diagon Alley in the same wave. I try not to scrutinize too much because I don’t want real leakers like yourself to feel uncomfortable in sharing the information you have. At the end of the day, it’s just info about toys, and I’m not going to lose sleep because some intel was wrong. If it’s right, that’s great but it’s really nothing to be paranoid over. Don’t want to lose the real leakers and be left with a bunch of attention seekers.

Have to say, even though Lockhart is not screen accurate in the slightest, I absolutely adore the version we are getting. I think they nailed both his face and hair, and even in the image where they recreate the scene where he takes a photo with Harry, really sells it to me of how awesome it is.
-
So is there going to be no way to purchase Diagon Alley in person on day one because I would prefer to do so then having thousands of people on a website that is bound to sink fast.
-
Bingo, I could care less of the box art, as long as the set is gorgeous, we’re good. Still kinda odd that they chose that particular angle for the box, it makes it look a lot smaller than it actually is. Head on, the set is actually massive and I prefer that view much more.

I think QQS will look better once Gringott’s gets released. LEGO put the brightest buildings at the beginning with the whites of Gringott’s, middle with the pink/red of QQS, and end with the orange/lavenders of WWW, right where the eyes naturally wander with the “duller” sets balancing them. This is why the set seems unbalanced atm, it’s not offset on the left side with a bright color, so your eye just wanders to the middle of it.
-
AHHHHHHHHHH! Yo this set is so detailed and beautiful and colorful! I always imagined it looking great, but this is just another level. Personally I really love QQS the pink and red blend so nicely and Flourish and Blotts has that nice brown and green contrast. And my boy Lockhart is in it looking spiffy as always, though not screen accurate but it’s no big deal.
-
I think Lego is waiting for the set to leak first and reveal it a couple weeks later, just like they did with the CMF, so the reveal will be just as anti-climatic. Get on it leakers!
-
Personally I’m putting money on Friday, teaser Wednesday. Very weird that they didn’t drop the Diagon Alley and CMF reveals together imo.
-
I don’t think the 2021 thread starts till we get a solid list of set leaks or at the beginning of the year. I think DH doesn’t have a lot of set options, the main ones to me would be: Bell Towers with Boathouse, Forbidden Forest 2011 remake, tent with Golden Trio and Gringott’s. Don’t think we’re getting Malfoy Manor, especially considering that we didn’t get Ministry Of Magic, both scenes have duels with major character deaths, the later being more iconic. I also highly doubt we will get Xenophilius’s house as casuals will never recognize it. The Wedding is fifty/fifty, considering LEGO likes doing festive stuff for both Astronomy Tower and Clock Tower. Now that leaves room for about two more sets in comparison to the current lineup, like Privet Drive is a throwback I’m putting money on the Lake Task and maybe Shrieking Shack as well, as it would be around the same price range where a Chamber of Secrets or Philosophers Stone add on would be too pricey with a third one hundred dollar set in the wave.
-
I really like this hairpiece, it would really do the flamboyant character that is Lockhart justice. I think many of hairpieces in circulation would suffice and do a decent job, but I’m really hoping for a new hairpiece myself.
-
Like legit, if you saw the set predictions for this wave last year, the only that wasn’t guessed right was Privet Drive which is reasonable because it broke the cycle of only focusing on two films , this forum called The Burrow, Forbidden Forest, Astronomy Tower, and Diagon Alley. The only set that didn’t come to fruition was Ministry of Magic.

Do we have any updates on if the Razorcrest pre orders are still getting shipped out on September 1 or if they got delayed due to COVID-19? -
For $350, that makes no Gringotts a little bit more tolerable assuming it’s at the $100 price range. So instead of paying $500, you’ll be paying $450 total. If the October release date is true though, we might be another month out from getting an official reveal. If we don’t hear a peep from Lego by the end of next week, I think it seals the deal of the set getting pushed back. Lord have mercy on my tainted soul.
-
What a bummer, especially at that piece count... personally if WWW or Gringott’s had to take the axe it would of been WWW, I can wait a year for WWW but Gringotts is literally the centerpiece. Am I still excited? yeah but man does that kinda suck. Is it a smart business decision? Yeah, but I’m not too thrilled by it myself. When I’m paying $400 for a lego set, I’m kinda expecting the most crucial part of it to be included. It’s one thing to pay $100 for modulars or add ons, it’s another when you’re paying $400
-
Same first I was like I’m buying Diagon Alley first beyond a shadow on a doubt, then that Ponda figure leaked and I’m like, well this might be closer than I thought. Then I remembered that DA would probably have Lockhart, and obvious to everyone who’s been following these threads for the last three years, he’s the minifig I’ve been most excited for since the revival and finally seeing a new minifig of him since the OG yellow face days is going to be amazing. I’m a big Lockhart fanboy. So Team DA for lyfe.
-
I really hope this is the case, that’s a phenomenal price to piece ratio and would be ample enough to give all the stores the justice they deserve. It also quells the fear that Gringotts may not be included imo.
-
I’m thinking personally: 1) Harry Potter PS version 2) Hermoine COS version with the black cloak and blue sweater 3) Ron COS version black cloak and R sweater 4) Hagrid 5) Lucius Malfoy 6) Draco Malfoy 7) Professor Lockhart blue attire 8) 2x goblins 9) Fred Weasley (HBP) 10) George Weasley (HBP) 11) Ginny Weasley (COS) 12) Florean Fortescue 13) 2x Quidditch mannequins (Would be cool to see Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, but Gryffindor and Slytherin more likely) 14) Rita Skeeter 15) 2x Death Eaters Maybe toss in a couple of random vendors and pedestrians, and I think that covers it pretty well. So about 17 actual minifigs and 2 mannequins.Though I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if there are an older set of the trio included as well like in the UCS Millennium Falcon.

I guess what I mean is that the big four would get more fleshed our interiors where the lesser known shops will have no interior or just be hollow. I think that the exteriors will all be similar qualities but the interiors will range from building to building based on how prevalent they are in the films, some larger or smaller than others, while some may have no interior at all. I’m sorry if I’m being confusing, I’m not much of a word smith. Didn’t buy the last Hogwarts D2C, no way would I buy a mIcRoScAlE dIaGoN aLlEy. Never been fan of other scales besides system scale. Minifigs are just as important component as the build itself in my honest opinion, and not getting minifigs in a set is a real drawback to me. That’s why my favorite sets always have a boatload of great minifigs like the Ewok Village and by the sounds of it the upcoming Diagon Alley.
